We made it to 40 weeks! Holy cow.
I honestly can’t believe I am writing this post. I really thought I’d have a tiny baby boy in my arms before I hit 40 weeks, but, hey, I guess Hippity wants to make an extra special entrance into this world!
CRAVINGS
Knowing that the end is near, I fully embraced all of my junk food cravings!
AVERSIONS
Just the same ones I’ve had all throughout my pregnancy. No new ones.
OTHER SYMPTOMS
Frequent urination: Still a peeing machine and woke up multiple times every night to go.
Morning sickness: It was still lingering a little, especially at night, but not bad at all.
Indigestion: Ugh, lots of it. I guess Baby H. had a growth spurt or something because I had some terrible indigestion and heartburn last week.
Sleep: Not great. I had trouble falling asleep almost every night last week and then I would wake up super early in the morning. I’d say I was probably averaging 4-5 hours per night.
(I made apple-orange-carrot juice at 5:00 AM on Saturday morning. #notnormal)
Clear skin: Still looking great!
Colitis stuff: I have nothing nice to say. The Prednisone only helped a little, so”¦ lots of blood”¦ lots of trips to the bathroom”¦ blah.
Signs of labor: Last Monday, I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced, but other than that, no obvious signs. A Non-Stress Test also showed that I was having irregular contractions.
Weight gain: At my 40-week appointment last week, I gained 37 pounds.
WORKOUTS
I took long walks with Murphy just about every day.
I also did a 30-minute workout in our home gym, which was mostly strength training (squats, KB deadlifts, shoulder presses, bench presses, ball slams).
ADDITIONAL UPDATES
I tried all sorts of things to encourage labor. I ate lots of pineapple, Chinese food, spicy Thai food, and eggplant Parmesan. I got a prenatal massage, pedicure, and went on loooonnggg walks with Murphy. I know babies come when they’re ready, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to try!
I relaxed and enjoyed my final days as a pug-only mom.
