• Recent Eats & Easy, Protein-Packed Snacks

    June 23, 2014

Hi, friends! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a FABULOUS weekend! Mine was really nice. Mal and I had all sorts of visitors to our house on Friday and Saturday to meet baby Q.

It was so nice to see everyone and catch up and many of our friends came bearing (ridiculously adorable) gifts for baby Q!

These onesies?! The cutest thing ever, right?

And my friend Marie made this wall hanging herself. Beautiful, right? She is so crafty!

On Sunday, Mal and I took Q to a friend’s barbecue, which was one of our first out-of-the-house adventures since Q was born. We’ve visited the pediatrician, the park with Murphy, and taken a bunch of walks together, but other than that, we haven’t left the house very much.

So, traveling with a newborn? I can’t say Mal and I are totally comfortable with it yet (we must look like such rookies), but it’s getting easier each time. Leaving the house is definitely a whole new ballgame with our little man!

My favorite protein snack is a hard boiled egg. It is so filling and gives me energy.
I love the smiley face on the lasagna. Looks like a lot of good eats!

    Kristine June 23, 2014 at 7:06 am

Have you shared your birth story? I missed it if you did.

    Lauren June 23, 2014 at 7:10 am

The little peanut onesie is adorable! We’ve been calling our little guy “peanut” since the day we found out about him. Any idea where it is from?

    Tina June 23, 2014 at 7:14 am

My friend said she bought them at a little shop in the South End.

    Christine June 23, 2014 at 10:47 am

@Tina: I’ve seen both of the onesies at Gifted in South End! (they have plenty of other adorable baby odds and ends)

    Katrine June 23, 2014 at 9:36 am

@Lauren: we got a gray onesie that says Little Peanut from Baby Gap.

    Lisa June 23, 2014 at 9:44 am

@Tina: @Lauren: it’s definitely from the store Gifted in the South End on Tremont St! I’ve purchased both of those onesies there as gifts in the past!

    Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat June 23, 2014 at 7:12 am

Seeing as I haven’t eaten breakfast yet, all these food looks delicious and now I’m officially starving. Yum! My favorite protein packed snacks are nuts, Quest bars, smoothies and trail mix.

Anele @ Success Along the Weigh June 23, 2014 at 7:40 am

Those onesies are adorable! Who would’ve thought lasagna could get any better but yeah, add a smiley face and I bet it already tastes better! Now you’ve got me wanting pancakes. Those look yummy!

Carla LOVES the GREEN NUT:) June 23, 2014 at 7:42 am

Im all all all about the pistachio these days :-)

    Tricia June 23, 2014 at 7:49 am

LOVE that wall hanging especially the little dinosaur :-) It gets easier going out in some ways. We didn’t go anywhere for a while with people because our son was born in flu season. It gets harder for some babies. My son is 7 months and really won’t nap at parties. No nap = difficult time going down for bed. But every baby is so different!!!

Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl June 23, 2014 at 7:56 am

It will definitely get easier every time you go out with little Quinn! Looks like some delicious eats. It’s been forever since I’ve had Lasagna… need to put that on the menu soon!

    Jessica June 23, 2014 at 7:59 am

Wow, good for you! I couldnt even think about leaving the house for an outing when my first baby was that young. I was a leaky-boobs, hormonal, tired hot mess!

Julie @ Coastal Runner Girl June 23, 2014 at 8:06 am

Love the onesies!! And that sign looks awesome :)

Oh, I’m all about easy, ready-to-go protein snacks.. my favorites are trail mix, apple + almond butter, protein bars, & protein shakes.

    Jaclyn @ BumpSweat June 23, 2014 at 8:08 am

Love the onesies! I’m a big fan of larabars, smoothies, and cheese + crackers or fruit to sneak in a little extra protein.

lindsay @ lifting in lilly June 23, 2014 at 8:11 am

    Anna June 23, 2014 at 8:54 am

Thanks for all of the food posts lately! I’d love to see daily recaps but whatever works for you is great. I’d forgotten about boiled eggs as a snack so thanks for the reminder. I’ve got a lot of travelling coming up in the next few weeks so I’m trying to think of healthy, portable things that I can eat. Congrats on the arrival of baby Q by the way – he is adorable :)

Heather @ Housewife Glamour June 23, 2014 at 9:02 am

Love the cheese smiley! And those onesies are absolutely adorable. I love to turn to hard boiled eggs, protein bars, Greek yogurt, and almonds for a quick protein-packed snack any time. Have a great week with baby Q!

    Hilary June 23, 2014 at 9:29 am

I love nuts for snacks and oddly canned tuna has been a favorite of mine as well! Mixed with some mustard and seasoning it is the perfect thing to help fill you up!

    Shel@PeachyPalate June 23, 2014 at 9:36 am

Did you manage to make the banana bread yourself? If you did you are super woman and it looks incredible!!!

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries June 23, 2014 at 11:05 am

I LOVE the lil peanut onesie – adorable!

Great snacks! I love nuts, spoonfuls of nut butter, protein bars, and smoothies with greek yogurt or protein powder for quick and easy high protein snacks.

    Emily @ Fit as a Mother... June 23, 2014 at 11:12 am

The wall hanging is so cute!! Love it.

Stephanie @ My Freckled Life June 23, 2014 at 11:21 am

Those onesies are adorable! Baby Q is going to be one stylish little man!

    Kristen @ Vitamin K Girl June 23, 2014 at 11:23 am

My favorite protein-packed snack is plain Greek yogurt with a handful of almonds–it has almost 25 grams of protein!

    Julie June 23, 2014 at 11:41 am

    That lasagna looks fantastic!

I like to bring along Quest bars, mostly because they don’t require refrigeration.

    Jolynn June 23, 2014 at 12:20 pm

Hey friend Marie.. can we be friends? 😉 I love that wall decor!

Alex @ Kenzie Life June 23, 2014 at 12:35 pm

Those onesies are adorable! I also really love the poster with Quinn’s name and birth info. So cute!

    Emily June 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm

They should host “outing with an infant” as a competitive game show. You win if you get there on time without forgetting anything and the baby falls asleep.

My go-to snack is an apple with almond butter. I find a good fat holds hunger off for much longer than protein, especially when I fool myself into thinking one of those high-protein bars will do it for me. Nope! It just tastes like I want another bar.

    Allyssa June 23, 2014 at 1:09 pm

I would say Quest bars but since those can get expensive hard boiled eggs are also good! Especially on some pita chips! YUM

Katherine Baker June 23, 2014 at 2:14 pm

so cute!! love the sign. and my favorite protein-packed snack is greek yogurt with a chocolate vitatop muffin mixed in…yum!!

    amrapcindy June 23, 2014 at 2:16 pm

    Annette@FitnessPerks June 23, 2014 at 2:33 pm

That sign your friend made!!! Does she do that as a business??! B/c that sounds like a wonderful thing for my baby’s room!

    Those onesies are so cute.

    Lily June 23, 2014 at 2:33 pm

When are we going to hear your birth story???????

Sarah @ Sweet Miles June 23, 2014 at 2:59 pm

Homemade banana bread is the bomb.com. SO. GOOD!

    Nikki June 23, 2014 at 4:14 pm

First of all, congratulations on your newborn! I have been reading for a little while, but kept pretty quiet. I love the onesies, and I am such a sucker for baby clothes.

    Monica June 23, 2014 at 6:17 pm

Awww-I love the name Quinn Tripp!
All your food pictures look good-I’m hungry!
You guys will get all the baby stuff down, it gets easier. I had some friends that were driving to see their parents with their 2 month old. After making MULTIPLE trips to the car loading it down with baby stuff, they climbed in the car with a sigh of relief, then realized they left the baby in the living room-haha!!!

    Michele June 23, 2014 at 7:07 pm

I can’t believe I won the giveaway!! Thanks Tina! I just emailed you. :)
