• My Friends (and Me) In Magazines

    March 5, 2014

    Good morning!

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments and suggestions on my post yesterday. I spent the majority of last night pouring over them and making adjustments to our baby registry, so now I am feeling really good about things. You guys had so many great recommendations! Thanks, again! I’m lucky to have such awesome readers!

So, I had a nice little Tuesday.

I cashed in my Valentine’s Day gift certificate from Mal for an amazingly relaxing prenatal massage. Between pregnancy, CrossFit, and sitting at a desk all day, I definitely needed it!

After my massage, I hit up Trader Joe’s for this week’s grocery shopping.

Murphy is totally saying: Mom, you always go overboard at Trader Joe’s! It’s true, I did, but it’s all part of my plan! (Grocery budget post for this week coming soon!)

Then, I headed home for lunch, which took just a matter of minutes to throw together, thanks to some tasty leftovers: mashed sweet potatoes with chicken breast, chopped steamed kale, and crumbled feta. Delicious!

    Murphy loves mashed sweet potato.

So on my flight to Savannah a couple of weeks ago, I packed a bunch of magazines. It was only a little more than 2 hours from Boston, so it was the perfect amount of time to catch up on my reading.

As I perused the magazines, I stumbled upon a number of pieces that featured some of my friends who I’ve met through blogging. I always get so excited when I see a name of someone I know in print.

In FITNESS (March 2014): Iowa Girl Eats and Skinny Taste!

In Runner’s World (March 2014): Erica Sara!

Also in Runner’s World, Laura Beachy, who works with us bloggers on fun RW’s stuff.

In Health (March 2014): Anne! She wrote a whole article about making healthy weeknight dinners!

Also in Health, Maria from Two Peas & Their Pod with a quote about her favorite juicer.

And, in the same article, a quote from ME about my beloved BELLA NutriPro juicer! So cool!

    Question of the Day

If you could only read ONE magazine for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Oxygen! since it made its comeback it hasn’t been as packed with great material, but I still love what the magazine stands for and the inspiration it gave me to lift weights many years ago!

Women’s Health and Clean Eating are two of my favorite magazines – I get so many subscriptions though!

I LOVE magazines! I especially enjoy Entertainment Weekly, Time (the two I subscribe to), People, Runner’s World, Good Housekeeping, Reader’s Digest and Food Network. If I could only read one forever, it would probably be Time Magazine.

I used to subscribe to so many magazines….Shape, Fitness, Self, More, Weight Watchers, Redbook, and a few others, but at some point I stopped reading them and they just kept piling up so I stopped all my subscriptions. I used to love nothing better than getting a new magazine in the mail and laying in bed, reading it front to back. I think when I started spending so much time on the internet, it really cut down on my magazine reading time. I actually miss it. There is just something about holding a magazine in your hands and turning the pages that you can’t get from reading on the internet.

I love this! Friends emerging from the computer screen to the magazines!!! How do they do this? What a great opportunity!

How cool to see your friends in magazines! Do you typically know when you are being quoted in magazines? Do they have to contact you?

Cosmo. Don’t judge me! I love their cover girls usually!
