• Top 13 in 2013: August

    August 31, 2013

    Another month whizzes by!

I still can’t believe summer is just about over. But, hey, it was definitely a fun one! Here are some highlights from August!

CrossFit & Paleo Retreat in Cabo

Day 2 was a busy one! Breakfast It started with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. I ordered the fresh fruit plate with baked sweet potatoes and sausage on the side as well as a glass of freshly pressed green juice. Simple, delicious, nutritious.

Delicious Ways to Eat Coconut Butter

Good morning! Back to regular posting (and pug photos)! Mal and I got home from Cabo on Tuesday evening, so we spent the majority of yesterday getting our lives in order—unpacking, doing (tons of stinky, sweaty) laundry, grocery shopping, and cuddling the heck out of this little guy: We missed him so much!

A Bunch of “Really Hard” Workouts for You

    30-minute total body running workout

Last week, not one, but two readers accused me of making “really hard” workouts, which apparently pushed them out of their comfort zone more than they expected. Mwhahahaha. I take that as a compliment! What can I say, I like challenging workouts! With that said, here are five of the toughest workouts I’ve created to date.

    Men with Beards and Hats

Good morning! Here’s a fun Murphy post to start your day off on the right foot! If you’re a longtime reader of CNC, you know Murphy is a tad neurotic and gets obsessed with the strangest things. For instance… The empty bag of dog food. He stared at it for hours. The fireplace.

Gluten- and Egg-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Gluten-free and Egg-free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi, friends! The other day, I received an email from a reader asking me if I had any egg-free cookie recipes. I’ve created all sorts of cookie recipes over the years, but, unfortunately (for her), none of them were free of eggs.

    Photo Dump

Hi, friends! I hope you’re enjoying the day so far! You guys have probably seen “photo dump” posts around the blog world, right? If not, they’re basically a random mix of photos from a blogger’s phone all in one post. I think they’re a lot of fun and love seeing what bloggers find on their phones.

Gear for CrossFit: Whatcha Need Versus What’s Nice to Have

    reebok nano 3.0

I receive all sorts of inquires about my CrossFit gear, including specific questions about my favorite products as well as my thoughts about what someone new to CrossFit should buy. Obviously, I’m not an elite athlete and everyone’s needs are different, but here are some of the things I personally use in my CrossFit workouts.

    Pontoon Boat Day

On Saturday, Mal and I joined Dave and Marie and their friends Tim and Angie for a day of fun and sun on Long Lake in southern Maine. We rented a pontoon boat! All packed up! Food, drinks, sunblock, towels, koozies… And fur children. Don’t they looked pumped?

    Simple Summer Sangria

    IMG_1878 (450x600)

I love everything about summer, especially getting together with friends and family at outdoor parties and barbeques. I mean, who can resist good times, good friends, good food, and good drinks? There’s nothing better than an iced cold cocktail on a hot summer day. Am I right?

    2013 Falmouth Road Race Recap

    2013 falmouth road roace

Falmouth is still my favorite road race! I had such a blast yesterday! Around 8:30 yesterday morning, Jess and I arrived at the runner drop-off area to take a bus to the start of the race in Woods Hole.

    My Favorite Budget Beauty Buys

I went to Target the other day and spent a boatload of money. You know how it goes: Go into Target for a few things. Leave with $100 worth of stuff. It happens every time. Anyway, one of the things that I obviously needed to buy (and actually inspired this post) was a bottle of amazing-smelling coconut body wash

    5-Minute Desserts for One

Hi, friends! This afternoon’s post is inspired by the email I received below: Hey Tina, I just stumbled across your Blueberry Pie for One recipe and I had to drop you a line to say thank you!

Quotes That Get Me Through a Bad Day

Blah. We all have bad days, right? Even the most positive people experience them from time-to-time, but how they deal with them is key to turning it around. Mal, for example, is one of the most optimistic and upbeat people I have ever met, which balances my naturally pessimistic outlook.
