The month of June was a total and utter whirlwind for me. There was lots of travel, my birthday, and plenty of other fun adventures. Here are my favorite posts from the month!

Hooray! I survived my first CrossFit competition! It was tough, but I had an absolute blast! The SouthCoast Summer Slam Team Competition was a one-day event hosted by CrossFit Dartmouth. Each team included two males and one female, and every team was guaranteed three workouts.

Thanks again for all of your birthday wishes yesterday! I felt so loved receiving messages on many different modes of social media. Everywhere I looked yesterday, I saw birthday wishes and kind words, and it was awesome. Thanks, friends! My birthday started bright and early yesterday morning with presents… in bed.

    Silk Blogger Trip

    Silk Bloggers

Greetings from Colorado! I’m spending the next two days with Silk as part of a new partnership with the brand. The company is hosting a group of bloggers—myself included—in Colorado, so we can meet the team and learn more about the Silk brand.

I’ve been meaning to write this post for ages since it’s one of the most common questions I receive about CrossFit. Are you thinking about trying CrossFit? If so, here are five tips that will help you get started! Don’t be scared. Seriously, don’t be scared. CrossFit is not a scary thing.

    Some Running Mistakes I’ve Made

After Saturday’s race, I was bumming pretty hard. I was upset with myself, frustrated with my health, and just plain old discouraged because my running wasn’t what it used to be. Thankfully, I had two wonderful runner friends, who assured me I could get back to where I used to be with some hard work.

    Ideas for Weekly Meal Prep {Sunday Cook-Up}

    IMG_0823 (600x450)

On Sunday afternoons, I typically spend about an hour preparing food for the upcoming week. I usually cook the most time-consuming meal of the week on Sundays, so while I am preparing it, I prep other foods—most of which will be stored in Tupperware containers and incorporated into meals later in the week.

Good times with Anne and Theodora!! I’m so glad I had the chance to hang out with them in Annapolis for the ZOOMA race this past weekend. The three of us woke up bright and early on Saturday morning for ZOOMA Annapolis. I originally planned to run the half marathon, but I ended up dropping down to the 10K.

    pug therapy dog

Hello, hello! Yesterday afternoon, Murphy and I went to the nearby senior home to make some pug visits. We hadn’t been in a couple of weeks, so everyone was especially excited to see us him. I mean, his pug face is ridiculously adorable after all.

    crossfit_travel_adventures_

As you know, Mal and I are head over heels in love with CrossFit. In fact, we love it so much, we visit CrossFit boxes and create our own travel WODs even when we’re on vacation. So when the folks from The Trip Tribe and Destino Retreats contacted me about attending their “WODS & Paleo Retreat in Cabo.”

Hi, friends! Happy Tuesday! Let’s get right to it! Breakfast Yesterday started with a glass of freshly pressed juice. Oh, how I love green juice! In the mix: spinach, kale, carrots, apple, cucumber, celery, ginger, and watermelon. (Here are the approximate measurements, minus the lemon + watermelon.)

    Tropical Mint Smoothie

    TropicalMintSmoothie

Here’s the winning smoothie from the Silk blogger competition! Just in time for summer! I’m completely obsessed with this smoothie. The flavors are incredible together. Banana, pineapple, mint, and coconut combine to make a refreshingly delicious and tropical-tasting smoothie.

Fitbloggin’ hasn’t even started yet, but I’m already having a fabulous time in Portland! Once my flight landed in Portland this morning, I hopped on a shuttle to my hotel for the next few nights. The Nines is a gorgeous hotel in the heart of downtown, and it’s the location for the Fitbloggin’ conference.

I loved the meal prep post!

I just got back from a trip to Cabo, and had so much fun. If you have a free meal and you’re looking for somewhere to eat and hang out for a bit, the food and margaritas at The Office were delicious. Can’t wait to hear about your trip!
