Hi, friends! Greetings from high in the sky, somewhere over the United States. I’m on my way to California for the CrossFit Games on behalf of Reebok and Fitfluential, and I am so, so pumped. Ahhh, CrossFit Christmas!

My alarm went off at 3:31 AM this morning, but, surprisingly, I popped right out of bed. I didn’t fall asleep until about 11:00 PM last night, so I figured it would have been a rough morning for me, but I was so jazzed about this trip, I just got up and got going.

Of course, Murphy followed me out of bed. He didn’t care what time it was. There was a potential for food, and he wasn’t going to miss it.

I fed Murphy, showered and got ready, and then packed up my things before waking Mal to drive me to the airport. (I figured I should let him sleep as long as possible since he was waking up so early to drive me. He’s the best.)

While I waited for Mal to get ready, I asked Murphy if he wanted to go for a ride in the car. Obviously, he did, and then proceeded to whine and run around the house in full excited-panic pug mode.

    So excited, so panicked.

On the drive to the airport, we made a quick stop at Bank of America to get money for the airport toll. As soon as we pulled up to the ATM, Murphy started spazzing out because he thought we were at Marylou’s. Or something like Marylou’s because, honestly, how could you mix up the bright pink décor and smell of delicious coffee? C’mon, pug, get it together.

Murphy was pretty bummed once he realized the Bank of America ATM did not give out Milk Bones. His life = so hard.

The closer we got to the airport, the more I started to think about how much I am going to miss Mal and Murphy when I am away. I know it’s a quick trip, and I’ll have a blast (hello, it’s the CROSSFIT GAMES), but I always get that sick, empty feeling in the pit of my stomach before I leave my guys.

    IMG_2759 (600x450)

Long story short, I let Murphy sit in the front seat with me so I could give him some last-minute cuddles before I said goodbye.

    IMG_2767 (450x600)

Before I knew it, we were at the airport, and I was saying goodbye to Mal and grabbing my luggage out of the back of his car. Our goodbye wasn’t as sad as I expected, but I’m sure going to miss him and the furry one. They’re both so friggin’ cute. I’ll miss their faces.

    IMG_2769 (600x450)

I thought we gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the airport, but I was a little rushed once I got there. Usually, I’m at the airport like two hours early because I’m always worried about missing my flight, and I also just kind of like hanging out at the airport, people-watching, sipping iced coffee, and reading celebrity gossip magazines. You know what I’m talking about, right? Anyway, by the time I got my boarding pass, there were no other available seat options on my flight, so I was stuck with a middle seat near the bathroom on a nearly 6-hour flight. Boo. Woe is me. I wasn’t psyched, but I didn’t think there was anything I could do, so I headed to the gate.

By the time I got through security and walked to the gate, my flight was already boarding. I wasn’t looking forward to the long flight, sandwiched between two strangers, and breathing not-so-pleasant bathroom air, so I took a chance and asked the counter attendant at United if there were any open seats on the flight. I knew it was probably a long shot, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask. I mean, the worst thing she could say was no, right?

Well, it was my lucky day today, and the counter attendant switched my seat to an aisle seat in an exit row. Holy crap, best seat ever! I must have thanked her at least a half dozen times before getting in line to board the flight. She totally made my day.

    IMG_2777 (600x450)

There was so much leg room! And a blanket! I was in heaven.

    IMG_2773 (450x600)

When the flight attendant asked me if I was willing and able to perform the necessary duties in case of an emergency (since I was sitting in the exit row), I simply replied ‘yes.’ But, in my head, I was thinking: If something bad happens and we need to get out of this plane, I’m going to clean and jerk that door over my head so fast, you won’t even know what happened. I eat 49-pound (how much the door weighed) clean and jerks for breakfast.

    Training for life.

    Anyway…

    I’m a goober.

Let’s talk plane eats. How about that?

I stopped by Whole Foods last night and grabbed a random mix of foods for breakfast this morning. There was no breakfast bar at that hour, so I did the best I could with the available selection. I ended up with chicken, pecans, blueberries, red grapes, and dried cranberries. It was a nice mix of carbs, protein, and fat.

I also bought a Kit’s Organic Fruit + Nut Bar from Clif. It was really tasty (just like a Larabar), and I loved that it only had 4 ingredients in it (dates, cashews, almonds, sea salt).

    IMG_2775 (600x450)

I also packed some almonds to snack on.

Took my niece to Six Flags Great Adventure a couple of days ago. The lines were relatively short and it while it threatened to pour all day it never did. So we had a cooler day, hit 9 coasters and never got rained on. It sure was a lucky day. And now I have no voice from all the screaming. LOL!
Hope you’re enjoying Cali (and RER).

Lucky thing to happen was showing up to my boyfriend’s parents house and was surprised with an amazing meal! It was our lucky day since the meal included both ribs and salmon.

Love the C&J joke! Made me laugh! And I’ve found out since starting CF that I’m always making C&J jokes. I love it!

A lucky thing which happened to me recently was being upgraded to business class on Singapore Airlines from Hong Kong to San Francisco. This was without being requested!!! Throughout the flight, I was greeted by first name, table was laid out by super attentive flight attendants, meals were 3-courses, got to use china-ware and glasses instead of plastic, free-flowing alcohol. The kicker, the seat can be converted to a bed! I can get used to this. Since I’m going thru a rough patch in life, this certainly just made my day.
Best airlines I have taken, Singapore Airlines.

I love your pictures of Murphy! He is so cute!

I’m so excited to see that you like to snack on Blue Diamond almonds too! Right now my favorite flavors are Smokehouse and Habanero BBQ (they sound spicy, but they aren’t too bad). And, upon reading one of your older posts, I had some of the coffee almonds with chocolate chips out of the freezer – so good!

Lucky thing – found that Meijer (a grocery store) sells the 1 pound bags of the flavored almonds – no coffee though, boo).

I haven’t flown in years so I guess I don’t have an opinion!

Lucky thing: My hubby made friends at the gym with a Keurig rep, who was super nice and very generous with a nice variety of K cups (score for me, since he’s not a coffee drinker)

Favorite airline: Virgin, hands down, I love checking in because they are always playing great music. It always feels like a party on the plane, even if your just flying for an hour.

Have fun! And use online check in next time. Oh, and Lufthansa rules but Delta is not too bad either.

Our puggle gets ridiculously excited to ride in the car. And if we are packing the car to go somewhere for the weekend and have the car door open in the garage, she’ll get in the car and not get out. She’s so afraid we are going to leave her! Poor thing was abandoned twice because people are a-holes. Luckily she usually goes with us or to our friends’ house (which she loves because her 3 best dog friends are there).
