• Tory Row 5K Giveaway

    May 19, 2013

Local runner friends: Here’s your chance to win a free entry to the Tory Row 5K!

Tory Row is at it again with their 5K road race! I heard last year’s event was a ton of fun (see banana costume below)!

The Tory Row 5K includes some really great prizes, a number pick-up party, swag (including a tech shirt and sport backpack), chip timing, bag check, and a post-race celebration with music, food, and free beer.

All proceeds from the race benefit a wonderful local organization called Title IX Girls Running Club. It’s very similar to Girls on the Run, but based in Cambridge and focusing on all aspects of emotional health for girls ages 9-15 with a focus on running. Learn more here.

To help promote the race, the folks from Tory Row offered to give Mal and me free entries to the race as well as one to give away on CNC, so here’s your chance to enter to win!

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post about why you’d like to run the Tory Row 5K. I’ll randomly pick a winner on Thursday morning.

    Good luck!

I wanted to do this last year – such a fun race for a good cause!

Looks like the event is lots of fun! The banana costume reminds me of Fu at CandyFit who recently ran a race in a banana costume 🙂

I would love to run this 5k..what a great cause it is for! Pick me!

    kathleen May 20, 2013 at 6:49 am

Pick me! This looks like the perfect run to kick off summer, plus it’s for a wonderful cause!

    Catherine May 20, 2013 at 6:59 am

I have been running regularly for a couple years and finally I am starting to get into running races. I would Love to add this one to my list!!

    evelyn May 20, 2013 at 7:05 am

This sounds great! I just signed up for a 10k in august, so this might be a good way to kick off my training!

    Liz May 20, 2013 at 7:59 am

I would love to run this race. I could add this to my “to-do” list. My 10 year old step daughter will be spectating at all of my runs this year and we are running together. I am using this as a way for her to get away from the negativity and body image issues that she gets from TV and society. 😀 So the cause is close to my heart!

I would love to run the 5K as a practice run for a 10K I have coming up!

    jess May 20, 2013 at 8:28 am

this sounds like a really fun event – and i’ve thought about doing it a few times, but just never got my act together in time. Also, tory row has the best veggie burgers ever, so that’s just another random fact why i’d like to do this run, haha 🙂

    Katrine May 20, 2013 at 8:38 am

I would love to run this 5K! I’ve been consistently running for the past month and would love to have a race to look forward to!

    Jolene May 20, 2013 at 8:51 am

Oh man, I would absolutely love to win this. Running is new for me. A good deal of the time it’s torture more than fun. But I’m learning to love it. Still, with a brand new niece or nephew on the way, a bathroom full of mold that has to be gutted, and a baby shower to plan, there isn’t much money to sign up for races.

But honestly, all that aside, I probably wouldn’t have commented if it weren’t for the amazing organization the race benefits. Young girls don’t have enough support for their emotional health. And it’s nice to see a link between activity and emotional well being. Amazing.

So all of that being said, I would love to be able to run this 5k!

I’d love to run this race. I’m coming back from a knee injury and a fun 5K would really help me get back in the swing of things.

    Christa May 20, 2013 at 10:15 am

I would love to win a number for the Tory Row 5k. Youth track was a big reason I ever got involved in the sport, and I am so glad that these programs are in place (and thriving) for the next generation to get running!

Great cause…great run…I’d love to win! I find road races in Cambridge to be really fun. I’d love to do this one. This would also be my first road race since April. It would light a fire under me to keep up with my running.

    Shannon May 20, 2013 at 10:37 am

It looks like a fun race for a good cause–and a great way to motivate myself to keep running! 🙂

    Crystal May 20, 2013 at 10:39 am

I would love to do it! Sounds like a fun event 🙂

    Annie May 20, 2013 at 10:41 am

I’d love to run this! I moved to Boston in September and am finally getting back into racing…I would love to race in Harvard Square!

    christina May 20, 2013 at 11:47 am

Sounds like so much fun 🙂

    Amy May 20, 2013 at 12:24 pm

oooh! I would love to win this! my husband and I did the Harpoon 5 miler yesterday, and I have no more races on my calendar! Plus, we used to live just outside of Harvard Square, so it would be fun to go back!

    Laura @ A Girl's Gotta Balance May 20, 2013 at 12:53 pm

Running and having fun all for a great cause? Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

    Greta May 20, 2013 at 2:08 pm

I would love to win a free entry to the Tory Row 5K, mostly because it’s for such a great cause! I am also looking to add a few more races to my calendar for this summer, before it fills up with too many cookouts, parties, and other non-fitness goal friendly events. Seems like a win-win situation to me!

    Elizabeth May 20, 2013 at 6:42 pm

I live nearby and I’ve heard of this race and always wanted to do it! 🙂

    Claire May 20, 2013 at 6:51 pm

I would love to run the Tory Row 5k! My running lately has been pretty lackluster–this would be a good way to kick it into high gear!

    kerry May 20, 2013 at 9:31 pm

I just moved to porter square in January–this is right along my home running route!

    Julie May 20, 2013 at 10:58 pm

Looks like a great race…would love to win an entry!

    Jane T. May 21, 2013 at 10:11 pm

I did the inaugural Tory Row 5K – I’d love to go back!

    Adrienne May 22, 2013 at 11:27 am

I could always use a good excuse to start training for a 5K 🙂

    Gabrielle May 22, 2013 at 10:45 pm

As a still-relatively-new-runner I’m getting into road races and would love to do the Tory Row! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

Quite simply, I run so many races that it gets expensive and /i need a break. I promote running healthy by running barefoot and will represent a healthy alternative in running. Also propmote the race on meetup so i effectively advertise the race and are getting others to sign up.
