Good morning!
Last night, Mal and I went to our friends’ condo to watch the Pats game together. They said we could bring “Mugs” (Murphy + pug), so we brought our furchild along.
When Mal and I travel with the pug, one person always takes the dog while the other person carries the stuff. Whenever Murphy arrives at a new place, he’s always SO excited and pulls at his leash and pings back and forth all over the place… basically, he’s a lot to handle, so we put this little divide-and-conquer system into place to make our lives easier. As you can see in the photo below, Mal is carrying our cider and a bag with some Rotel Dip inside while I’m manning the pug, who is super psyched to visit a new apartment.
While I watched the game, I snacked on all sorts of goodies””guacamole and chips, cheese and crackers, and Rotel Dip and baby carrots.
I also drank a couple of Angry Orchard Hard Ciders.
It was a fun, low-key evening with friends and the Pats won! Yay!
2012 Goals in Review
With the new year right around the corner, I figured I should review my goals from 2012. I can’t say I achieved them all, but I’m very happy with what I accomplished, especially since some of them were real priorities for me.
My goals for 2012:
Run a sub 24-minute 5K – Achieved!
My original goal for 2012 was “get faster,” so I quantified it with a sub 24-minute 5K. I made it through more than half of the year without running a single 5K, so when I reviewed my goals in July, I made it point to register for one. I ran a 5K in August and just missed my goal by 23 seconds. I was bummed, but a month later, I tried again and ran the Canton Road Race in 23:51! It was awesome, and I was so proud of myself!
Redo my office – Achieved!
I spend a lot of time in my office, so redoing it was a priority for me this year, especially since the décor was so”¦ uh, overwhelming. It took me about a week to completely transform my office, and it was well worth the effort. I love it now!
Fix the fence in our backyard – Achieved!
This was a huge goal for Mal and me. When we first moved into our house, the fence in the backyard was a complete disaster””old, worn, and falling into our neighbor’s yard on both sides. We wanted to replace our fence in 2012 no matter what, so we saved our pennies, got a bunch of quotes, and finally got our new fence. We also managed to save enough to redo our front yard and walkway and repave our driveway. It was a busy home improvement year for us!
Do three unassisted pull-ups – Achieved!
I still remember setting this goal for myself. I thought it’d be a miracle if I could do three unassisted pull-ups by year end and just the other day I did 40 of them in a workout!
Complete the NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification – Not achieved.
I’m not sure what happened with this one. I registered and bought the materials, but I never even started studying. Maybe I’ll try to do it in 2013?
Run more than 735.62 miles – Not achieved.
My fitness interests definitely changed in 2012, so I did a lot more CrossFit than running and racing. I still enjoy running, but CrossFit is my jam now. It’s so fun and it makes me a better athlete and faster runner, so I’m not at all bummed about this one. I ran 321 miles + whatever I ran during WODs in 2012.
Read and comment on at least 3 blogs each day – Not achieved.
I started out great with this one, but then my commenting took a nosedive. I did, however, comment more on blogs in 2012 than any other year, so I guess my goal helped me to improve overall.
Fran Rx – Not achieved.
Oh, Fran. I still haven’t Rx-ed her, but I make progress every time I do her. I’ll be adding her to my 2013 goals for sure.
Question of the Day
