Hi, again! Here’s a recap of yesterday morning and afternoon. I had a nice, little Saturday!

Breakfast

I went to bed pretty early on Friday night (drank wine, watched a movie), so I woke up insanely early (and hungry) on Saturday morning. I was in the mood for pancakes, so I broke out the Griddler and whipped up a batch of pumpkin-flavored ones.

Saturday Morning Pumpkin Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup almond flour/meal
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and blend well.
  • Heat skillet to medium-low heat and coat with cooking spray.
  • Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to portion the batter onto the skillet.
  • Cook each side of the pancake for about 2-3 minutes and flip.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Makes 8 pancakes

These pancakes turned out so well. They were light and fluffy with a semi-sweet pumpkin-y flavor. So delish!

I ate four pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup and left the rest for Mal to eat when he woke up. I went to the grocery store to do our shopping for the week, so I left him a note. Murphy sometimes lies about eating breakfast, so I made sure to let Mal know that he had already eaten.

When I got home from the grocery store, a fun surprise was waiting for me on the front porch.

Inside was goodies from Reebok!! For November, they sent me the Play Dry Jacket (in Gravel) and RealFlex Fusion TR (in Rivet Grey/Vitamin C/Aubergine/White) to review.

reebokrealflex

Let’s start with the jacket since I am completely in love with it and it’s absolutely something I would buy myself. In fact, one of my CrossFit friends has the exact same jacket in Aubergine (aka purple), and I told her I really liked it and even considered buying it for myself, so, obviously, I’m psyched that Reebok sent me one to review! I already know I’m going to wear this jacket a lot””of course, before and after workouts, but also in everyday life as part of my regular wardrobe. I’m a big fan of jeans + sneakers/flip flops and just stylish workout gear as  “regular” clothes, so you’ll probably see this jacket quite a bit on CNC!

I’m all about fabrics when it comes to workout gear. If it’s stiff or scratchy, I’m just not a fan and won’t wear it. This jacket is lightweight and comfy with a really soft, waffle-like pattern on the inside. It’s so, so, so cozy to wear.

I also love the thumb holes on the sleeves.

IMG_5309 (750x563)

I mean, who doesn’t love thumb holes on sleeves? They’re the best. Seriously.

IMG_5306 (750x563)

Ok, onto the sneakers! How fun are these things?!

IMG_5296 (750x563)

The colors? Purple, orange, and gray? Love, love, love!

I actually already have a pair of the RealFlex, and I wear them often for CrossFit workouts. They’re great for WODs that have a little bit of everything in them because they’re lightweight, flexible, and move with me while I’m box jumping, running, Burpee-ing, or whatever else.

Workout

Yesterday’s CrossFit workout was a “Fall Field Day” with all different kinds of exercises, so I knew my new RealFlex Fusion TR would be perfect, so I wore them to class. The workout also included some running outside, so I wore my new Play Dry Jacket to keep me warm. The jacket has a slim fit, but it’s flexible and didn’t limit my range of motion at all while I ran and worked out.

The “Fall Field Day” involved 5 different events:

1)   Max 400 meter Sprint

2)   Max Rep Bench Press Test with one weight (below), go for AMRAP

Males: Beginner: 95, Intermediate: 135, Advanced: 185

Females: Beginner: 35, Intermediate: 65, Advanced: 95

3)   Max Broad Jump (3 attempts)

4)   Max Isometric Hold Chin-up (Time)

5)   Max 1 minute Double Unders

The first event was a 400 meter sprint. I finished in 1:10, which was a 11-second decrease from March and a 23-second decrease from January. I can’t believe how much faster my running has gotten in the past 11 months, especially since I don’t run nearly as much as I used to!

IMG_1840 (560x750)

Mal has gotten a lot faster too. He finished 400 meters in 52 seconds. He was so fast, I wasn’t able to snap a picture of him as he ran by me! Haha! My photography skills are stellar.

For the bench press, I did 24 reps at 65 pounds.

IMG_1846 (560x750)

For the broad jump, I got 6’4”.

IMG_1849 (560x750)

For the Isometric Hold Chin-up, I made it to 60 seconds before dropping. My partner lost track of my double-unders, so I’m not sure how many I did in a minute, but I got a string of 21 in a row!

After CrossFit, Mal and I stopped by Marylou’s for iced coffees and then went to buy leaf bags.

The next activity for our day was raking the leaves in our backyard.

IMG_5187 (750x563)

Mal and I used to wish we had a bigger backyard, but now we’re started to appreciate its size.

It took us less than an hour to rake up all of the leaves in our yard and bag them.

Murphy helped by eating about a dozen leaves.

Lunch

Once Mal and I finished the yard work, I reheated some leftovers for lunch (Skillet Sweet Potato Hash) and then jumped into the shower to get ready for Elizabeth and Nick’s wedding.
