Boston 13.1 Marathon Giveaway

September 3, 2012

Are you thinking about adding a fall half marathon to your race calendar? Well, here’s your chance to win a race entry to the Allstate Life Insurance Boston 13.1 Marathon and, at the same time, help benefit homeless men, women and children in Boston.

Allstate and non-profit Give Your Sole have teamed up for a shoe donation campaign to collect moderately used athletic shoes at the Allstate Life Insurance 13.1 Marathon Series races. All shoes collected in Boston will be donated to Boston Rescue Mission, an organization that helps homeless and poor of Greater Boston achieve self-sufficiency by assisting women and men in confronting and overcoming the root causes of their homelessness. They also have a Back on My Feet team! Runners who donate their shoes on race day will receive a free pair of flip-flops to wear home.

Race participants and spectators can make donations at the Boston 13.1 Marathon on Sunday, September 16 as well as during packet pick-up at Fast: Splits Multisport on Friday, September 14 and at the Karhu and Craft North American headquarters on Saturday, September 15.

I was thinking about signing up for this race as training for my first marathon in October, the price was a little steep so this would be a great opportunity to run it! I also have a few pairs of sneakers to bring to donate

I would absolutely love to run the Boston Half! I tried to qualify for the Boston Marathon when I ran the New York City Marathon a couple years ago. The qualifying time for my age group (when I ran it) was 3:40.99. I crossed the finish line at 3:41.02. Just missed it! The Boston half would be a great motivator to qualify for the full!

9/16 is my 44th birthday and I will be in Boston with my husband to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary and honeymoon that we didn’t take last year when we got married on 9/10/11. I wan’t to run this race on my birthday to start a year of health and wellness for me and our family and show my daughter you can do anything you set your mind on doing! Thank you!!
