• Teddie for You

    August 1, 2012

Wow, Wednesday is really flying by—but in a good way since I’ve gotten so much accomplished. Hooray! Go me!

I love days when you totally plow through your To Do list and then feel awesome because you got so much done. Doesn’t a glass of wine tonight sound like a nice reward for my hard work? I think so.

The above photo is from our honeymoon. After dinner one night, Mal and I decided to have “one more” before we headed back to our hotel room. We sat outside the restaurant in a gorgeous garden courtyard with comfy chairs and candlelight. It was so nice, and it’s such a wonderful memory for me.

I ate breakfast shortly after waking up this morning, so I took a break for lunch earlier than usual—it was about 11:00 AM. I made almost the exact same salad as I ate for dinner last night, but I added a hardboiled egg to the mix this time.

After my salad, I ate a plum.

A few hours later, my stomach started to grumble, so I snacked on a Greek yogurt. I’m hungry again now, so we’re definitely going to eat an early dinner tonight. Feed me.

It’s no secret that I love peanut butter. I eat it every day—with sliced banana, blended into smoothies, straight from the jar on a spoon, and even sometimes in savory noodle dishes. My goodness, it’s delicious! I have a feeling some of you guys might get tired of seeing the same old peanut butter over and over again, so I decided to branch out and discover some new spreads to add to my regular repertoire. Here’s what I found: 6 Great Alternatives to Peanut Butter.

    Teddie Peanut Butter Giveaway

I professed my love for peanut butter in my Health post this week, so I decided to host a giveaway to win a jar of Teddie Peanut Butter because, as you probably know, it’s my absolute favorite kind. Plus, I have a lot giveaways on CNC that only local readers can benefit from, so this giveaway is for EVERYONE!

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post about your favorite kind of nut butter. I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning. Good luck!

I had an almond butter/banana/wrap this morning. Had to try after seeing on your blog a few days ago. LOVED IT! It’s going to be a new “regular” for me. Love, love, love peanut butter – with just about anything and also plain. Takes the edge off quick, which I need sometimes. 🙂

Smart Balance Peanut Butter is my all time favorite and go to for a late night snack.

    Donna August 2, 2012 at 9:51 am

We don’t have a Trader Joes where I live OR a Whole Foods so I usually just get Justin’s brand from Target. LOVE, LOVE nut butters!!

    Emily August 2, 2012 at 9:57 am

Almond and peanut butter rule! I’m a fan of Trader Joe’s jars.

    Alyssa @ Don't Look Down August 2, 2012 at 10:01 am

Although I definitely enjoy almond butter, I really think natural peanut butter with salt will always stand as my favorite!

    Amanda H. August 2, 2012 at 10:07 am

Whoa, man. I love me some peanut butter! I went through an almond butter phase, but have found that I just love peanut butter, whether for nostalgia sake or because the flavor feels more versatile. Peanut butter in/on everything makes for a happy Manda 😀 …the term “everything” being used rather lightly, of course…because I’d be a little scared of peanut butter and olives, for instance :/

I have never had Teddy but would love to try it..

    Kristy August 2, 2012 at 10:24 am

My favorite peanut butter is Trader Joe’s brand, but I have never seen Teddie brand in the stores in California where I live. My favorite almond butter is Trader Joe’s almond butter with flaxseeds. It is soooo good!

    Laura August 2, 2012 at 10:27 am

I love smucker’s natural peanut butter–no sugar and a perfect amount of salt!

    Brenna August 2, 2012 at 10:32 am

My favorite is peanut butter! But almond butter comes in at a very close second.

Lisa Meyer August 2, 2012 at 10:33 am

    Peanut Butter!!!

    Lindsay August 2, 2012 at 10:36 am

Smart Balance creamy PB is in my cabinet, but I love grabbing the sample packs of PB & Co and Justin’s to keep at my office.

    Carissa August 2, 2012 at 10:45 am

Peanut butter is my all time fave. I’ll switch out for almond or cashew butter sometimes, but I always miss the pb!

Wendy Irene August 2, 2012 at 11:11 am

My favorite kind of nut butter is Earth Balance peanut butter with Flax seeds. I love the addition of flax. I have never tried Teddie’s though and would love too. Thank you for the chance to win. Have a beautiful day, Tina!

    Jen August 2, 2012 at 11:21 am

It’s a tie between almond butter and good ole’ classic peanut butter for me. I love ’em both so much. Sometimes as a quick snack I just eat a big spoonful right out of the jar! Your blog is great. I recently started doing CrossFit and am LOVING it! Such a great workout experience.

    Holly August 2, 2012 at 11:24 am

Hi – I would LOVE to win some Teddies PB. I live in NYC, and I can barely afford regular. I read your blog all the time, love it and am recovering from a running injury. After that, back on the pavement and hoping to start hitting the crossfit gym too. Cheers.

    Shannon August 2, 2012 at 11:51 am

Peanut Butter is my favorite! (I haven’t had any other nut butter)

    Hannah August 2, 2012 at 12:12 pm

I would love to try the peanut butter with flaxseed! I have oatmeal with flaxseed every morning and the peanut butter wrap would be a great change up!

    Mailoha August 2, 2012 at 12:22 pm

    I love skippy super chunky!

    Colleen August 2, 2012 at 1:17 pm

I love the super chunky! I tried this because of your blog : )

    Shaunna@mamas13minutemile August 2, 2012 at 1:23 pm

I have never tried Teddies, I usually make my own.

    Jenny August 2, 2012 at 1:24 pm

The salad with hard boiled eggs looks delicious. I also like Greek yogurt, it is like a treat. I have eliminated sweets and salty snacks and lost over ten pounds. The Teddy peanut butter looks like another healthy treat. I still have an occasional glass of wine with dinner but the pounds keep dropping off. Eating right definitely makes a big difference.

    Esther August 2, 2012 at 2:01 pm

    I love almond butter!

Claire @ Live and Love to Eat August 2, 2012 at 2:28 pm

    Cashew or almond! 🙂

    meghan August 2, 2012 at 2:57 pm

i lovvee sunflower seed butter! i can eat it straight. but i guess that’s not a nut butter, so i probably disqualified myself.

    maren August 2, 2012 at 2:58 pm

Ok, I am not sure if “everyone” means that it is open for people outside the S but I would be more than happy to win a jar. We do have peanut butter here, but choices are not too great as it is not a traditional food here.
Crunchy peanut butter is actually my favourite nut butter! I do like all nut butters and I just eat them on the weekends for breakfast as a special treat. Luckily the weekend is already close by…

PS.: Thumbs up for your blog!

    aerin August 2, 2012 at 3:34 pm

I’ve started really enjoying Sunflower Seed butter–nutty with a new earthy flavor–DELISH!

    Tricia August 2, 2012 at 4:56 pm

My favorite is creamy peanut butter. Yum!

    Laura @ sweatingforit August 2, 2012 at 5:45 pm

My favorite kind of nut butter is peanut butter!

    Kylie August 2, 2012 at 6:07 pm

Yay for Teddie PB! My favorite nut butter is probably almond 🙂

    Megan August 2, 2012 at 6:27 pm

I have no bias against any nut butter…I loooove them all. However, the chunkier the better.

    Monica August 2, 2012 at 7:27 pm

I love love love peanut butter! It’s great at any time of day and works well with all sorts of food- quick and easy! Working as a teacher, it’s a great “stay fuller longer” food with lots of great healthy fats and protein! I would love to get to try out some Teddie products!

    Amanda August 3, 2012 at 5:35 am

I love all sorts of nut butters, but my favorite is always going to be almond butter.

    Kelsi K August 3, 2012 at 6:08 am

love love love Justine’s nut butter. It’s the only one I can get in my university town. boo! Every time I come home from college, I make a trip to Trader Joe’s and try a new type as well. Nut butter on a whole wheat waffle is my favorite breakfast!

    Erica August 3, 2012 at 8:29 am

I love Barney butter but still haven’t found the perfect natural peanut butter for me. Maybe Teddy fits the bill!

    Suzanne August 3, 2012 at 9:30 am

My favorite plain peanut butter is the whole foods 365 crunchy. But I loveee my homemade cinnamon vanilla almond butter and all the super expensive gourmet nut butters. I’ve been dying o try Teddie but it’s not available by me!

    Luanne August 3, 2012 at 9:50 am

Good ol’ Skippy Peanut butter is still my fall back, although I now buy the natural version. But I am expanding and have fallen in love with almond butter from Target (too bad that the nearest Target is 2 hours away!)

    Katelyn August 7, 2012 at 11:24 am

Hi Tina! I was just catching up on some posts and wanted to leave a comment here about favorite nut butters! I know the contest is over, but I just had to share one of my recent discoveries – have you ever tried Naturally More peanut butter? Holy moly, it is DELISH! The texture is great, it has flaxseed and extra protein, and it tastes so, so good. Their website lists stores that carry it (the most common one is Wal-Mart, but some local stores carry it as well). Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter is another one of my favorites too, especially on graham crackers! Nutritionally it’s not the best though I’m sure 😉

Love your blog by the way, and I’m researching more about paleo and eating less carbs overall because of some of your recent posts! I mainly need to cut out sweets, and I have a problem with adult-onset acne like you’ve experienced, so it’s encouraging to know that cutting back on carbs & sweets has helped you with that – that’s definitely a motivator to skip sugary desserts at night, as hard as that is for me! 🙂

    Kelly@BalancedDaily August 8, 2012 at 3:42 pm

I’ve always wanted to try Teddie since so many healthy bloggers write about it! Right now my favorite kind of nut butter is No-Stir Caramel Almond Butter. WOW! This stuff is awesome. I usually have a scoop straight from the jar for a little dessert, love it!
