Ok, where’d we leave off?
After the men’s Track Triplet on Friday afternoon, I headed over to the stadium to watch the team competition.
The first part of the workout was a 2 rep max Front squat:
Front Squat M will be scored as its own event, ranked by the sum of the max loads performed by the male members of the team.
Front Squat W will be scored as its own event, ranked by the sum of the max loads performed by the female members of the team.
Each team will have one barbell (with a rack) and 4 minutes for all 6 members to complete the lifts.
Hey, CrossFit New England!
The second part of the workout was a Team Triplet:
Three mixed gender pairs complete the following for time:
Row 750 meters, while partner holds 215/145 pounds in the Front rack position
50 Burpees, while partner holds 135/95 pounds Overhead
50 Thrusters, 95/65 pounds, while partner holds the Dip support positionPartners may switch during each exercise but repetitions will only count while the other partner is holding the required position. Each pair of athletes must complete all the repetitions before moving to the next exercise. The next pair of athletes may not begin each exercise until the leading pair has finished.
Here’s CrossFit New England (gray shirt, pink sunglasses) holding 145-pounds in the Front rack position while her partner rows 750 meters. A number of the women struggled to get the bar in the Front rack position (as you can see from the woman on the right) and keep it there. If they needed to put down the bar and rest, their partner had to stop rowing.
CrossFit New England was the first of their heat to move onto the next station, which was Burpees.
She did 50 Burpees while he held 135 pounds Overhead.
The final part of the Triplet: one partner did 50 Thrusters (95 pounds for the guys, 65 pounds for the ladies) while their partner held the Dip support position.
CrossFit New England came in 2nd overall for the CrossFit Triplet. They’re animals. Remember them from the CrossFit Northeast Regionals? They came in first place at the Regionals.
CrossFit Southie (in the orange) was in the next heat.
Yay, TJ!
The guys took 3rd overall on the Front squats!
Looking strong!
CrossFit Southie came in 21st overall on the Team Triplet.
After the team event, I headed back to the hotel to shower and get ready for a dinner with the other Fitfluential ambassadors and the social media folks from GNC.
I started with a glass of white wine.
And then we shared a bunch of appetizers among the table.
For my entrée, I ordered the chicken and hummus plate.
After a busy day at the Games, a late dinner, and 3-hour time change, I was absolutely exhausted. I face-planted in my bed as soon as I got to my hotel room.
LOTS more to come!

Funny! I spied a friend of mine in one of the team pictures
He got engaged the day before the Games with his girlfriend who was also on the team!

I was just thinking that, too. Incredible dedication and strength.

omgness my muscles quiver at the sight of those pictures, hah! I feel like I’m being put to shame by all their strength. And I’ve never heard of Tide, I’ll have to look into it!
Sounds like such an awesome atmosphere. I’ve been inspired – adding burpees and squats to my workout today.
Looks like you had an amazing time. I actually watched last years on TV the other night. Certainly humbling.
Wow! What an inspiring day! I think front squats are so tough. I am impressed!! I love the idea of team workouts too.
I’m really enjoying reading over your Crossfit Games posts! I was glued to the live stream and spectator stream all weekend long. I haven’t seen the final workout yet, when they determined winners, so I’m going to have to make time to watch it tonight. Such inspirational athletes!
Oh my Tides looks so delicious!!
GREAT photos!!!
Wow…that is just INSANE! Any fitness-related activity I do now officially pales in comparison…wow, just wow.
I don’t even know how to put this weekend into words. I keep feeling like I am not doing it justice. The Games and dinner with GNC were EPIC! Awesome to have met you this weekend!

How fun! It must have been so exciting to be there in the action!
I watched part of the CrossFit 2011 games on ESPN yesterday and they were pretty awesome to watch, that must have been so fun to see in person! When you first started posting these I wasn’t sure how cool it would be to watch other people work out but now I get it
The team challenge looks like it was really intense! It must have been so cool to watch them get through it all, especially with New England leading the heat for a while. What was the weather like there? It seems grey so at least the sun wasn’t beating down on the competitors, but was it humid? When I try to exercise in crazy humidity I feel like I can’t breathe. I really like the color of those bright orange shirts! Pretty jealous of you for this entire weekend!
It was hot, but not humid– maybe mid-80′s for most the weekend.
hey you featured a picture of my Cross Fit team! Blue shirts #s 472, 473 & 474 – QCCF Awesome from Davenport IA! Very cool to see them featured on your blog!
So cool!!!!!
