It’s my birthday! I’m 32 years old young today!
I have to admit, 31 wasn’t my favorite year, especially compared to the year before. Thirty was a big year for me: I ran a marathon, bought a house, and wrote a book, so it’s not surprising that 31 had a tough time living up to it. Plus, a bunch of not-so-great things happened last year. But, what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, and I learned a lot of important life lessons from those experiences:
Every moment of life is precious.
Nothing is more important than your health.
Life is not always fair, so you need to accept and adjust.
Stop working so damn much and spend time with those who you love.
The little things in life are the big things.
Real life is always better than anything you find on the Internet.
Even though I didn’t love 31, the majority of the year was awesome and tons of wonderful things happened:
- Enjoyed a super awesome week-long cruise
- Ran my second marathon
- Discovered CrossFit
- Redecorated my home office
- Joined Team Off Balance for Reach the Beach
- Attended the 3rd Annual Healthy Living Summit
- Had lunch with Ellie Krieger
- Took a ski trip to Mount Baker
- Enjoyed two days on Chebeague Island with Mal
- Got my NASM certification
- Watched a bunch of my friends get married
- Attended the Saratoga Brewfest
- PR-ed at a couple of races (10K & half marathon)
- Saw Ellen DeGeneres in Boston
- Celebrated three years of marriage
- Hosted an epic pig roast in our backyard
- Spent a week on Cape Cod with my family
- Attended the Dole Healthy Lifestyles Summit
Here’s to 32 being the best year of my life!

Happy birthday Tina and cheers to this year being the best year of your life! My birthday is next week, and upon reflection I think that this year, being 23 has been the happiest, most self-fulfilling year of my life.

I have a tendency to think that childhood is the best time (easy homework! no drama! coloring books!), but I have a feeling that this coming year (last year of college) might be my best one yet!

Up to this point (I’m 22 now, turning 23 in March) I definitely think that 20 was my best year yet. I went through a tough break up when I was 19, and my year of 20 included finding happiness all on my own, making a bunch of new friends (especially awesome girl friends) and spending a semester in Barcelona, Spain which was the absolute best thing I’ve ever done! While over there I lived with one of my best friends from home, and her 3 roommates from Umass. We took trips to Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, Paris, Madrid, Maastricht/Amsterdam, The Netherlands, as well as Venice/Florence/Rome, Italy. It really was the trip of a lifetime and for that, made my year of 20 the best ever! [until I got home and still had to wait 3 1/2 months to legally drink in the states

Happy Belated Birthday Tina! My best year was probably the year I spent on unemployment and lost 101 pounds. It was such a blessing to have the time to spend on myself and get in shape. Unfortunately since going back to work I’ve regained some but I love exercising now (especially kickboxing) so I’m working on getting back to my fighting weight. Cheers!
