Good morning! Happy Monday! What’s on your agenda for today?
Here’s what’s on mine:
Packing for New York City. I actually wrote “packing” twice on my To Do list, so I guess I really want to make sure it gets done to today. Although, it’s not like I’d actually forget to pack for my trip. Ok, I just like crossing things off my To Do list. It makes me feel more productive, so now I can cross “packing” off my list twice!
FYI: For those of you who asked about the Fitness Blogger Meet & Tweet, it’s an invitation-only event, but you can follow along on Twitter with the hashtag #FitBlogNYC.
Getting a pair of jeans hemmed. All of my “short” jeans (aka the ones I wear with flats) are pretty beaten up, so I really want a new pair, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money. I’m a jeans snob, so instead of blowing big bucks on a new pair, I’m going to get a pair of my “long” jeans (aka the ones I wear with heels) hemmed, so I can wear them with flats. I’m planning to bring them to Nordstrom since they do such a nice job on jeans. I’ll let you know how they turn out!
Finishing my Feel Great Weight post. I’m writing about low-calorie cocktails this week. The post will be published on Health.com on Wednesday morning!
Writing a post for the Pretzel Crisps blog. I’m not sure what I’m going to write about quite yet, but here are a couple of my past posts: Rotel Dip for Cinco de Mayo and Your Road to a 5K Race. If you have a fun idea, please let me know!
Blogging for Trading Up Downtown. I have 4 out of my 5 posts already written for the week, so I have just one more to go!
Giving Murphy a bath. I can’t remember the last time he had a bath, so we’re going to have a little rub-a-dub-dub this afternoon. (Isn’t this pug photo just too much?!)
Going to CrossFit tonight. Woohoo!!
Breakfast
This morning’s breakfast was “Oatmeal” Minus the Oats with two big scoops of Teddie Peanut Butter.
I forgot to add the chopped walnuts this morning, so it definitely tasted like something was missing. I’m also kind of hungry again just a couple of hours later. Boo. What happened with breakfast this morning?

That tomato cake looks so good!
I really need to meal plan today!! i want to plan ahead so I get more vegetables in plus it saves money!! I love that CrossFit board.. I want one for my house!!
You need to move to NYC!! Hehe, you visit soo much
I wish! Mal and Murphy would miss me though!
@Tina: Hahah, bring them! Can you imagine Murphy playing in the Big Apple? Sooo cute!
That’s a good agenda. I have lots to do but I’m trying to stay upbeat and positive this week. It’s easy to get overwhelmed. Have a great workout tonight!
Gah!!! I recently got my first pair of Seven for All Mankinds, and they are the absolute best jeans I’ve ever had–I want to shower and sleep in them but can’t get over the guilt of how much they cost! How do you get used to spending $$$ on jeans?
I don’t think I’ll ever get used to spending a lot of money on jeans, but I’d rather buy a quality product that I know will last and one that I’ll love. Sevens are my favorite brand of jeans too, and I wear them until they literally fall apart, which means they get 3+ years of wear. A pair of cheap-y Gap jeans, however, usually lasts me about a year or so, and I never love them as much or wear them as much as my Sevens.
Studying, studying and more studying! Finals week is not fun. At all.
I’m Packing too, although my flight is early this afternoon! Luckily I’ve got just about everything checked off my to do list!
I love the pug tub! I can’t even remember the last time my pug had a bath… which probably means he needs one!
Job searching (applying), getting ready for summer semester, and blog chores.
I love Nordstrom alterations! They are just fabulous!
Work, work, work… haha, gym, supper, blogging and paint my toenails!
sounds like a productive day ahead!
I already made banana bread and I am excited to head out the door for a pedicure and a trip to Whole Foods! I’m hoping to have time to make a healthy dinner for tonight with leftovers for the week!
Packing is on my agenda as well!! Going to las Vegas with the husband for a long weekend getaway. Do you have any tips about working out/eating well on vacation???
@Melissa @ squats and squash: Yep! Check out these posts:

Your breakfast looks so yummy! Have fun in NYC, your so lucky I feel like you go there all the time! I ave a question/suggestion….I’d like to see a post about how you time manage writing all your posts for the different blogs/newspaper/magazines/websites that you write for. You clearly do a great job because you always publish on time and with informational content. I am trying to post more regularly and am having a hard time managing when I am going to write what. Similarly, I am going on vacation in a few weeks and am trying to get ahead with some posts. Do you have your posts post automatically when you are away? Or do you periodically login to do so? Sorry for the long comment! Probably should have just wrote you an e-mail!!
@Stellina @My Yogurt Addiction: As far as time management, I’m terrible at it! LOL! I work ALL of the time, but I’m trying to cut back a bit nowadays.
For me, a lot of my “draft” writing happens first thing in the morning, and then I come back to edit the next day or later that afternoon. It depends on the piece, but sometimes I can write a post quickly, but other times it takes a few looks before I like what I have written. I guess I just give myself plenty of time to write and edit before a piece is due, so I don’t feel the pressure of its deadline.
As for publishing posts when I’m away, I just write them and schedule them to post on the date/time I want them to appear on my blog.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
What kind of eggs and flax seed meal do you use in your oatmeal minus the oats? Mine turns out much more brown in color, but I use egg substitute (it’s yellow) and golden flax seed meal… regardless of what it looks like, I followed your recommendation and bought the six pack of Teddie peanut butter on Open Sky and it is AMAZING!!
The egg whites are All Whites Liquid Egg Whites (not egg substitute) and ground flaxseed meal is Whole Foods brand.
So glad you like the Teddie! It’s the best!!
Your energy is so infectious! I was so into gardening this weekend, I kind of forgot to plan for Monday… so today’s agenda is setting the agenda! I’ve got a lot to accomplish this week – while trying to follow the event via Twitter – excited to hear all about it! This Friday is my spa-day; I will earn it!
Oh, and I should probaly give Meatball a bath too – but not until after doggy daycare…
The olive oil and tomato cake looks easy and delicious – however the recipe has duplicate garlic and no eggs although directed to mix in. Maybe meant to have 2 cloves garlic and 2 eggs?
Yep, that’s a mistake. It should be 2 eggs and 2 cloves of garlic. Thanks for letting me know! I’ll tell the Lipman folks.
@Lea: Thanks so much for catching that! We really appreciate it.
I am a giant. (as you will see in 2 days!!!) Therefore, I have precious few places I can get jeans that are long enough. I cannot imagine having jeans hemmed. It’s almost absurd to me. However, my husband? Though tall for a Chinese guy, is no giant. He is actually a few inches shorter than I am. I have his jeans hemmed every time. Fortunately, he has had a great relationship with a tailor for many years. I have oft thought of turning straight or boot cut into skinnies, though.
I use pretzel crisps as “crouton” substitutes in salads! They add crunch and some saltiness without a ton of calories. This technique is especially lovely when you’re at the end of a bag and it’s mostly broken crisps.
That’s a great idea!
I have a list a mile long including getting my hair cut! Here’s to hoping that I actually accomplish half of it!
Good luck with your to-dos!
Good luck to you too! Enjoy your hair cut!
Have fun in NYC! Plenty on my to do list including bill paying, running, and laundry.
Sounds like a great to-do list! Mine is a mile long…..on top of work. Off to hit that up!
Have fun packing
OMG that pug photo! Dying of laughter!!! Today is pretty chill for me. I think just baking and cooking is on the agenda
Mmm… What are you baking?
Tina, since you are coming to NYC do you plan a blogger meet up?? I would love to attend, and to meet you!
Sounds like a busy day! That photo is too funny by the way.
I had to do the same thing with my jeans the other day! My legs are a little on the short side, so I have trouble with the length on pretty much every pair of pants that I purchase.
It’s a bank holiday Monday here so took my time at the gym and got some weight training in, followed by some baking, protein ball making (rhyming not intended) and some food prep for the rest of the week. And now it’s time for eats and chillaing. Your a busy lady!
That recipe looks great! Thanks for sharing. I wish I could be going to see you and pbfingers speak at the meet and tweet. I am sure you ladies will rock!
Have a safe trip.
I also love crossing things off a list; I often add silly things that I know I’ll do anyways just to be able to cross them off. Plus, the list looks so much better at the end of the day with more items completed
One thing I want to do after work today is go to Target; I need a few random items, but I really need to get Mother’s Day cards and a graduation card for a friend.
Have a great day!
Haha! I add silly things too! I like seeing lots of things crossed out!
Hahahah that picture of the pugs in the tub is HILARIOUS. Where do you find these things?!
On the agenda for me today is working, doing laundry, going to the gym, grocery shopping + blogging later tonight
Haha! Readers send me the best pig stuff!
Wow Tina- your day is full. My day is just being at work. Boo. I love crossing things off lists- especially at work. I freak if I lose my “to do” list. LOL
Can’t wait to hear about New York! I just saw on Julie’s blog that y’all are on a panel together … pretty cool!
Yep, we are!
Today is cleaning and writing day. (I really should be cleaning and writing not reading your blog oops…)
Nicole
oh what about doing a dark chocolate covered pretzel crisp! mmmmm..not sure what your blog topics are supposed to cover but that sounds good to me!
I’m a shortie but I never get my jeans hemmed and know I should! How much does it cost you?
$14!
I saw that your workout for the week on wednesday is soul cycle! I work there! Which instructor were you thinking of checking out? And which studio? I’d love to help you in the decision process!I also work on wednesdays! You are going to LOVE it!
Please feel free to email me with more questions!
Sadly, it didn’t work out this time (the class filled up), but maybe next time!
Do you have Nordstrom Rack up there? They have TJMaxx prices for clothes you would buy at a regular Nordstrom and they also offer tailoring, I love the store!! The shoes are still pricey, but the clothes are very reasonable.
you’re going to soul cycle! i’m so excited for you! which instructor are you taking? will you do a re-cap? i spin at soul cycle about 3 times a week and i absolutely love it.
Sadly, I’m not going anymore. The class I wanted to take was full. Next time!
Those pretzel crisps are the best thing ever! I get them at Sam’s Club because the bag is huge! It’s one of the small things in life that makes me smile
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I am definitely trying this. A question first, I do not have a food processor yet, the blender should be ok right?
Yep!
That pug picture is adorable! I have a puggie so I LOVE IT!
I just finished my first CrossFit Elements class!! About to shower and get to bed.
Yay!! What’d you think?
That tomato cake looks delicious…can’t wait to make it!
Hi Tina! Thanks again for creating this recipe. A few of us have tried it and LOVED the results!
Are those jeans Loflis?! If so, WHERE DID YOU GET THEM? I love my pair so much and can’t find them in stores lately!
They are! Good eye! I bought them at Jasmine Sola back in 2007 or 2008.
