• Like You Just Stepped Out of a Salon

    March 9, 2012

Yay! I love my new haircut! It looks a zillion times better—healthier and shiner with a nice, rich color. I feel like a new woman!

Check out these before and after photos—it’s amazing what a little color can do!

My hairdresser only cut off about an inch, but it made such a difference. My ends look so much healthier!

Lunch was a random mix of goodies: scrambled eggs with spinach and bacon in a whole wheat wrap, sweet potato wedges, and a couple of Frosted Date-Nut Cookies. (Only one cookie is pictured, but I went back for a second one. They’re so good!)

A few hours later, I made myself a protein smoothie with banana, coconut milk, and a new protein powder that a friend of a friend sent Mal and me to try out. (FYI: Mal loves this stuff, and he has been drinking it almost everyday since we received it.) The “Fortified” variety that I tried this afternoon is a whey protein derived from grass fed, free-range cows.

The chocolate was really tasty and blended well with the other flavors in my smoothie, and it didn’t have a weird, chalky taste or anything like that. Sweet and smooth. The chocolate was also a nice change from my usual vanilla protein powder.

Off to walk the pug and then CrossFit! Wish me luck on 12.3!

I love getting hairs cuts, definitely so refreshing! I myself need one badly haha, but I am waiting to go home to my normal hair girl, I get a little picky/nervous having new people do my hair :)

    j3nn March 9, 2012 at 3:41 pm

I love going to the salon, since I don’t have color i my hair I tend to procrastinate it, I should call for an appointment now lol

    Charissa March 9, 2012 at 4:17 pm

Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life March 9, 2012 at 4:18 pm

I love getting my hair done, it feels so nice to be pampered! I usually only color my hair once every 6 months to keep it healthy and save some money, but I love that fresh feeling when I leave the salon!

    BethT March 9, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Like you just stepped outtttttt of a salonnnnnn….Salon Selectives!

    StoriesAndSweetPotatoes March 9, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Your hair looks great. It’s amazing what just cutting off the split ends can do. God, I never cut my hair, lol.

    Brittany March 9, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Love the new hair cut lady! It reminded me that I need to make an appointment soon.

    Sana March 9, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Corrie Anne March 9, 2012 at 4:29 pm

Ooo! New hair feels so good! I love it!!

    Marie March 9, 2012 at 4:30 pm

I love the new color and your cut! I agree, even just a little trim feels awesome. I love getting haircuts; it’s one of my splurge although now I’ll wait 6-7 months in-between cuts. I live my stylist, she’s the only one to make my long hair not look so flat and dull and I can go longer in between cuts. Enjoy your workout tonight!

Ash Bear March 9, 2012 at 4:38 pm

Haircuts are possibly my favorite thing ever! I walk out feeling beautiful and my hair is so soft and silky!

    Alaina March 9, 2012 at 4:47 pm

Love the hair cut! That reminds me that I need to make an appointment. My ends are looking pretty bad right now.

    katie @ KatieDid March 9, 2012 at 4:50 pm

I’ve been wondering about protein powders lately, which types people enjoy and the differences between whey/ plant/ rice etc. Glad to see a sustainably sourced whey powder, I’m going to have to look into that one. Have a blast at crossfit, looks like another tough workout!

Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction March 9, 2012 at 4:53 pm

Love the new haircut! It’s amazing what just a little trim can do for our mood :)

Katie @ Talk Less, Say More March 9, 2012 at 5:02 pm

I love how something so simple like a hair cut and fresh color can make you feel so much better. I know when I get my hair done, I feel like a new woman for a good week or so! woo! :)

    Olivia March 9, 2012 at 5:11 pm

I don’t notice a difference in colour, but it looks much healthier. I like your natural colour though! Haha it’s like mine.

    Kiran @ KiranTarun.com March 9, 2012 at 5:23 pm

I need to have a haircut and color — but I’m afraid of coloring. Never colored before because I have a full head of black tresses. Anyone willing to recommend how do I tame those greys in between? Which color would work the best?

Alyssa @ fit and fun in third March 9, 2012 at 5:24 pm

Yesss getting your hair done is the best feeling! Great way to start your weekend!

    Hilary March 9, 2012 at 5:35 pm

Angela @ Happy Fit Mama March 9, 2012 at 7:53 pm

It’s amazing how cutting 1 inch can make your hair feel lighter and healthier. Looks good!

Thanks for mentioning the Date Cookies again. I’m off to make them right now!

    Lauren March 9, 2012 at 8:14 pm

You look STUNNING. Your hair looks fab! :)

Michelle (Better with Berries) March 9, 2012 at 8:31 pm

Haircuts are the best feeling ever! I always schedule them on days when I know I can go relaxed and truly enjoy it :-)

    Deb @ wiseupslimdown March 9, 2012 at 8:53 pm

My hair is the bane of my existence. I doubt I will ever make peace with it because I have a hug scar on one side of my head, thus I have less hair on that side and I have many cowlicks. I think my most embarrassing style was when I had a body perm on the top with layers and then long and straight on the sides. Ugghhh.

What a coincidence….I have been meaning to try whey protein for a while now and bought a small pouch of MRM chocolate flavored whey protein this morning. I know it’s high in glutathione, a powerful anti-oxidant. Going to put it in a smoothie for breakfast in the morning.

Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet March 9, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Your hair looks awesome! Now I think I’m craving some breakfast right now :( But I already ate dinner, boo!

howd you do on 12.3? it was a tough one!

    Tina March 11, 2012 at 9:53 am

@Laura: Really bad. :( I’m going to blog about it later today. How’d you do?

    Laura March 11, 2012 at 4:28 pm

@Tina: pretty good! i did 7 rounds + 32 reps. i made the bad decision to do back/front squats the night before, working up to my 1 RM. my legs were definitely feeling it on those box jumps and push presses!

    Tina March 11, 2012 at 4:34 pm

    WOW! Nice job!!!! :)

    honeywhatscooking March 12, 2012 at 12:43 am

i know what you mean, a little haircut and color can make such a huge difference. lately i’ve been having issues with whites.. so annoying, i’m so young for white hair, but thanks to my mom. and i look like 5 years younger after highlights. :)

Wendy Irene March 12, 2012 at 2:12 pm

Tina, your hair looks beautiful! I love it :)
