Dinner
I did a terrible job meal planning this week, so I just winged it with dinner last night. I ended up finding a packet of Knorr Four Cheese sauce mix in one of our cabinets, so I incorporated it into dinner. It called for milk, but we only had vanilla-flavored soy milk, so I used Greek yogurt + water to make the cheese sauce. It actually turned out really well—thick and creamy!
I mixed the cheese sauce with whole wheat pasta and roasted broccoli. Dinner done.
Breakfast
This morning’s breakfast was scrambled eggs with leftover roasted broccoli and crumbled feta and a glass of iced coffee with a splash of eggnog.
Teddie Peanut Butter Giveaway
I’m giving away a HUGE TUB of Teddie Peanut Butter over on Trading Up Downtown today. I have no idea why this makes me so happy, but it does!
Question of the Day
Play along with the fitness survey!
P.S. Remember my friend who create those cool Breaking Bad, Dexter, and Walking Dead sneakers? Well, they’re for sale now!

I love fitness surveys! What a lot of fun. I love my Garmin too. I can’t walk without it. My mp3 player too. Exercise is so much more fun with good music.
Mmm coffee with a splash of eggnog. I need to try that. Could be dangerous though…
Running the beach is quite relaxing! And skiing or snowboarding are my favorite winter cardio activity. Unfortunately, I live in Florida so I will have to stick to rollerblading.
No worries, that huge tub of PB put a goofy grin on my face too
I couldn’t live without: races to train for, a sister to run with, music to keep me moving, and my jump rope (ha, is that one weird? I love jump roping
)
Thanks for the link-up, Tina!
Boot Camp classes are definitely high up on my list, too! They are a great total body work out!!
Smart move with that cheese sauce. I tried to make gravy the other day with vanilla almond milk since we were all out of plain. Big mistake! I was hoping since it was a small amount, the vanilla wouldn’t come through, but oh how it did. Yuck!
I also really want to try crossfit! I think there’s a location around Fenway…
Ooh I like this survey! My tech must-haves are a treadmill, my iPod, and inteval timer (which I suppose is part of my iPhone if I use the Gymboss app – great for BodyRock workouts!)
pb and banana is my staple too! So good
love this survey! i could not live without my garmin, iPod nano and peanut butter/banana pre race meal. and i definitely think treadmills are tech gadgets.
umm… you are excited about that 5 lb tub of PB because it is freakin awesome!!!
Great survey! I will do this soon! For my comment though fitness things I can’t live without : BodyPUMP, Zumba, Pilates, Running, Foam Roller.
Good idea with the Greek yogurt for the cheese sauce–awesome switch up.
Since you listed road races, I was wondering if you’ve ever done or thought about doing a trail race. Have you?
@Christina @ Just Running: No, I never have, but I’d love to!
Fun survey! My favorite types of exercise are kickboxing, biking, and strength training. My most embarrassing workout song… oh gosh how to choice. Probably the Call by the Backstreet Boys.
I also REALLY want to try crossfit. I found a location close to my house and next semester I have a lighter class load and I’m thinking of signing up! It looks crazy intense.
Ha – I love that pic over the motivation mantras. It’s awesome.
I too really like running buddies. I also can’t live without a good sports bra and my garmin.
For a quickie dinner that pasta looks fantastic!!
My Running bucket list also includes the Boston Marathon, I grew up watching it and I hope to run it in 2013. I would also love to do an Iron Man….maybe a half would be enough
My favorite mantra is ‘you’re only one workout from a good mood’- works every time!
@Khushboo: That’s a great one!
I LOVE Crossfit!! I bought a 6 week groupon and pledged to go 5 days a week for 6 weeks…I did it! I have kept going from there because it is very addictive! I was out of shape and now am improving each day. BONUS: it has helped my running even though that is not the core of the workout!
@Sara Butler: I second that –CF being addictive! I could not go back to regular group exercise strength classes again. It’s EXPENSIVE, but worth it. LOVE CROSSFIT! Definitely try it out Tina.
@Kara: @Sara Butler: The only thing holding me back is price. Do you belong to a gym too or just do Crossfit?
@Tina: I just do Crossfit….but I do it 5 days a week. Between that and running I don’t really need another gym membership. But I have thought about picking up a groupon every once and awhile for yoga or pilates. Yes, it’s pricey but the results are amazing and the workouts are awesome. Plus there’s so much variety that you never get bored!
@Tina: I just do CrossFit and run. No gym membership. Usually the CF boxes have drop in days or FREE WOD (work out of the day) days on Saturdays for you to try it out. You’ll have to see what the one by you offers. Plus, the one I go to offers discounts i.e. couples, law enforcement, educators, military. Maybe Mal could try it out too? Lastly, the expensive price helps keep me accountable to go on days when I don’t feel like going, but like you say afterwards you never regret a workout!
@Kara: Sorry, I forgot to say that I’ve been to two boxes and both allowed me to try it out for free a few days during the week to see how I liked it before I made a commitment to sign up, which I thought was awesome. I believe they all don’t have contracts and it is a monthly rate, but I maybe wrong. Hope this info helps!
Oh my gosh, can I please join your Reach The Beach blogger team? My blog is just a little thing, but I’d hang in just to run that one!!
That cheese sauce just reminded me how I found a packet of Knorr something or another in my mom’s cabinet at THanksgiving. It EXPIRED in 2001. I can’t even begin to guess how old it was. My mom is like a pantry hoarder, it’s ridiculous.
@Gina @ Running to the Kitchen: Ewww! Haha!
This was such a fun post. I’m going to play along and do it on my blog too.
What a fun survey! I might have to join in on my blog one of these days.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a giveaway – I’m heading right over to Trading Up Downtown to enter!
Great posting as always! This is Martin here, the Marketing Director from Reach The Beach relay series… do you already have a team set up? We should chat, could you please contact me at marketing@rtbrelay.com
5 Fitness Things I Can’t Live Without:
1) Fitness. It is my job, without it I am poor. (also kinda poor with it, but whatevah).
2) Les Mills. BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyStep. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
3) Workout pals. I teach, therefore I cannot workout alone. I try, but it is tough. I would much rather have a bunch of buddies.
4) iPod.
5) 1/2 of a bandana. My go to look is half a bandana made into a headband. Without it I swear my workout is not as good.
You’ll be at Boston before you know it! I’ve gotta take my kids to school, I’ll be back later to play along.
Love the fitness survey – may have to do this one next week!
Boston Marathon is on my bucket list too, but I might be 80 by the time I can actually qualify. Think of how cool I would be running the Boston marathon in my 80s though!
I’m with you on the tech tools except my android for an iphone and elliptical for cross-training purposes in lieu of a treadmill!
I ran to Neil Diamond “coming to america” today. Yup. There it is.
are you planning on running the upcoming boston marathon?!
@Chelcie @ Chelcie’s Food Files: No, I’ll be on a cruise then!
I’ve been wanting to try crossfit too!! I’ve done a few at-home things. You should check it out and share!
What a fun survey!
My fave workout mantra: “Success is my only motherf**** option!” (it’s from an Eminem song). ALWAYS works for me
You have got to try CrossFit! It really pushes you to your limits. I have never left not feeling like a badass.
I listen to the most horrible music when I run that I would never listen to otherwise. I love the lady gaga pandora station and the britney spears one too! The only thing that gets me really pumped when I’m running is some good club music.
The Boston Marathon is always the week of my birthday (April 19). My life goal is to run the BM for my 26th birthday (2013) 26.2 for my 26th! I highly doubt I’m qualifying anytime in the next two years, so I’m going to try the charity route.
It’s totally on my bucket list.
On my workout bucket list: real pushups and real, unassisted pull ups. I have quite a way to go! But it is a great goal and keeps pushing me. I think I would like Crossfit, but like you say, it’s expensive!!
Fun survey. I use my iPod and Nike+ when I run. And my most embarrassing song is probably breakin free from high school musical.
I also LOVE the ta-ta tamer. I’m a HUGE fan of the stairclimber for cardio, but also love running and intervals on the treadmill too.
One Fitness Thing I Can’t Live Without:
My pre and post run stick … don’t know what it is call will have to check out the foam roller.
Favorite Pre-Workout Snack or Meal:
A banana – not too ripe!
Most Embarrassing Song I Listen to While Working Out:
Don’t listen to music when I run … so nothing to say on this one …
On My Fitness Bucket List:
Run two halfs in one year … secretly I would love NYC, but very far from it! Maybe Chicago!
Must Have Tech Tools:
Garmin
iPhone
Apple computer to log in my Garmin times and blog about it!
Top Exercise Gear:
Love my Nike and Under Armour anything!
Lululemon TaTa Tamers (I have to try them … I always go double … a
BIC Bands (Have to purchase them … I just don’t know which one to get … skinny or wide !!!)
Motivational Mantras:
Ce la puoi fare! (You can do it) too obvious, right!
Favorite Cardio Exercise:
… hmmm …
Favorite Strength Moves:
Plank
Would you recommend the SpiBelt over other running belts, or is that just the one you happened to buy? I asked for a running belt for Christmas (I can’t keep running with my phone in my hand!!) and was just curious
@Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel: YES!
I agree that running buddies are so so great. I used to only enjoy running alone and considered it a time to clear my head and just “go” so to speak, but running with my much quicker brother has taught me to push myself. Now, we race during interval runs and longer runs make for great catch-up time : )
ooo a fitness survey, love that! I will have to use that one
And like you, I cannot live without some Bodypumpin’ in my life.
The top cheesy running tune HAS to be Eye of the Tiger, right?
Two things on my bucket list are to run the Boston Marathon and do Reach the Beach. I ran my first marathon this past summer and qualified for Boston and am going to do it in 2013. I also did a team relay in VT called the 100 on 100 and had a blast. It make me want to do a bloggers Reach the Beach team! I am in the Boston area so if you ever need another person, please feel free to contact me.
Fun! Thanks for the survey…which will hopefully get me back on track (I’m in post-race laziness mode…a week and a half later, haha).
