We’re all packed up and ready to go to Maine! As you know, I really stink at packing, but packing an overnight bag took me about five minutes. I actually think I finished packing before Mal did.
It didn’t take long for Murphy to pack either. He wore his harness and leash into the car, so all he had to pack was his food, plate, and puffer fish.
Murphy is so weird when it comes to eating. He’s scared of bowls, so he eats off of a plate. I’m not sure if his flat pug face makes him feel like he can’t breathe when he’s eating out of a bowl or what, but it’s plates only for this dog. We put the puffer fish in the middle of Murphy’s food to slow him down when he eats””otherwise, he ends up choking because he eats so quickly.
Breakfast was a real treat this morning. The other day, OpenSky sent me (ready for this?) a chia seed-espresso nut butter called Chia Charger to try. It’s peanut- and cashew-based with tons of chia seeds and espresso mixed in. Clearly, I am a huge fan. (FYI: OpenSky and I are working on a sweet deal for this stuff, so keep a look out for it!)
I added two scoops of Chia Charger to my oatmeal this morning. Also, in the mix was vanilla soy milk and dried cherries.
My stomach seems to be okay now, so I had some iced coffee this morning. Mal and I wanted to hit the road, so I took my iced coffee to go with me in the car.
Before we headed up to Portland, Mal and I made a quick pit stop at Best Buy to trade in our iPhone 3s. If you bring in your old iPhone, Best Buy will buy it back from you. We each got $78 for our old iPhones! Sweet!
Murphy has some serious separation anxiety when either Mal or I get out of the car, so he barked and whined when Mal left to go into Best Buy””even though I was still in the car with him.
We’ve tried everything to get Murphy to chill out, but he’s always so concerned when one of us leaves.
Eventually, Mal came back ($156 richer) and Murphy relaxed.
Then, we hit the road to Maine! Mal threw on the Citizen Cope station on Pandora, and we had a rockin’ sing along. I love road trips.
We’re almost to Portland now, so stay tuned for more adventures!
