Granny

August 30, 2011

Hi, friends. I’m having a tough time over here. One of my friends passed away suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. His passing is not something I want to openly discuss on CNC, but I want to let you guys know since things might not seem super upbeat in the coming days, but I’ll try my best.

With that said, here are some pretty photos of my breakfast.

Kodiak Cake pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup.

_MG_3273 (333x500) (333x500)

Iced coffee with vanilla soy milk.

One of my friend’s favorite Dave Matthews Band songs was “Granny.” We used to blast it on repeat and jam out together. I always think of him when I hear this song.

Hello how are you doing today
I hope I find you feeling healthy
I’m so glad our paths crossed this time today

On our way into the night
We find love it’s hiding here
In the darkness in the shadows
Maybe it’s up to you and I
To bring it to the light
Love when I approach the tears
They fall like rain
You tell me baby your hearts into a thousand pieces

Now stop only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can’t see what I can, when I
Blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next good thing to comes my way

So here we are all of us stand around
We’re leaning heavy on each other
Always wondering what is it that lies behind
The worried eyes of one another

Well I believe it’s love that’s hiding here
deep inside both you and me.
Maybe it’s up to you and me to share it with the light
Love when I approach the tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces

And I stop only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can’t see what I can, cause’ I
Blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next good thing that comes my way

I say it’s love that’s lacking here
Although I know enough to spare
Maybe you and I could spread it large and wide
Love with my approach the tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces

Love
Baby
Love
Baby
Love
Baby

Give your loved ones a big hug today. Life is too short.

Its never easy to lose a friend, especially when its unexpected. I hope you’re able to meet up with others that are grieving the same loss and you find some comfort in that.

We’re all thinking of you!

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I lost a great friend during college and it was unbelievably sad. What got me through was remembering the good times in HS and College and not letting the sadness cloud all memories. Your CNC fan base is all supporting you :-)

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s passing. Sometimes life hands us cards that we can’t explain but that change us and impact us so deeply. What has helped me to cope with death is being creative, writing poems or songs (because I’m not great at visual art). It’s a way that the beauty of someone’s life can be immortalized. Much peace

Sorry for your loss, Tina.

I find this quote comforting and uplifting:

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge — myth is more potent than history — dreams are more powerful than facts — hope always triumphs over experience — laughter is the cure for grief — love is stronger than death. -Robert Fulghum

Dear Tina,

My deepest sympathy to you and your treasured
friend’s family and loved ones.
I too hope you take a few days off from blogging.
Most work places have bereavement time off and you
also deserve a few days of privacy and reflection
and whatever you feel you need to do to honour your
friend.

Take good care of yourself please!
