Are We There Yet?

August 12, 2011

Oh, Cape traffic. It never ceases to amaze me. Somehow, it took us five hours to get to our rental on the Cape! We made a few stops along the way, but jeeezzz… isn’t that crazy?!

Around 12:30 this afternoon, my mom and sister arrived at our house to pick up Murphy and me, so we could all carpool together to the Cape. (Mal has a bachelor party tonight and tomorrow, so he’s coming down on Sunday.)

Between the three of us, we had sooooo much stuff. Holy crap. The car was packed!

You’d think we were staying for a month, not just a week!

On the ride down, we made a pit stop for Marylou’s iced coffees. Obviously.

The backseat was really cozy with all of the bags and a 28-pound pug on my lap.

Since Falmouth was on the way to our Cape rental, we stopped by the race packet pick-up for Sunday’s event.

We had already sat in an insane amount of traffic, so I quickly ran in and grabbed my race packet, so we could hit the road again.

It seemed like a pretty good expo though!

Five hours later, we arrived at our Cape house. Wahoo! We were all famished, so we immediately started making dinner, which was make-your-own sandwiches with deli meats, cheeses, and various condiments.

I made a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich with whole grain mustard on a toasted English muffin with a pickle on the side. I also ate a bunch of Kettle chips from the bag as we sat around and chatted after dinner. Once I start, I can’t stop!

For dessert, I enjoyed some Almond Joy Pieces (heavenly) and a bunch of Vienna Fingers (love).

After dinner, we went for a walk to explore our new neighborhood.

Murphy, in particular, loved all of the new sights and sounds.

Hooray for vacation!

Tomorrow, I’m spending the entire day with the nice folks from New Balance. I’m really looking forward to it!

I love the Cape, but you’re right – traffic is insane!! We always try to arrive on a Thursday to beat the traffic from Boston!

A 28 lb pug?? :0

I really wish someplace around here would see peanut butter flavored coffee, it sounds so good when you mention MaryLou’s.

My boyfriend and I have been discussing making a trip to the Cape. After hearing about your drive I’m not so sure….traffic and my boyfriend are not friends. ;)

I hope you are having a wonderful time!
