Garden State

May 25, 2011

Mal and I are working hard to beautify the outdoor spaces at our home, so here’s just a fun post to share our progress so far. (We’re dorks and get excited about the little things in life! ;-) ) Here’s what we’ve done so far:

Planted marigolds in the window boxes on the front of the house.

Brightly colored flowers always make me smile!

Loosed the soil and added grass seed to the patches in the backyard.

Mal is obsessed with having the perfect lawn.

And Murphy is obsessed with eating it.

Our dirt backyard has come a long way, huh?

Planted a small vegetable garden in the backyard.

We planted cherry tomatoes, red peppers, broccoli, and lettuce. Let’s hope they grow!

Alouysius likes to eat things that are trying to grow in the ground, too. (Must be a Pug thing.)

There’s nothing quite like cooking with something that you’ve grown yourself…I’m excited for you!

I get excited about all the little things too! And it is super exciting when you get your first crop of veggies. It’s like every bite tastes incredible because you were the one to put all of the work into it. It’s amazing!

Love your little veggie garden! We live in the suburbs with TONS of deer so planting a garden is useless (they ate so many of my tomatoes last year!) unless we build something with fencing :(
