Last night, Mal and I headed to one of our favorite bars on the South Shore for dinner. The Union Brewhouse is a laid-back, sort of dive-y brewhouse with an amazing selection of ever-changing draft and bottled beers””easily the best selection on the South Shore. Mal loves the Union Brewhouse so much, he actually refers it “his” bar since everything about it is perfect in his mind.
Mal and I have visited the Union Brewhouse a number times in the past several months, but, somehow, we missed the memo about the 99 Beer Club. Who are we!?! Terrible beer drinkers, apparently.
To join the 99 Beer Club, all you have to do is a pick up a 99 Beer Club Card and have it stamped each time you try one of the pub’s 99 beers. Once you try all of them, you get a t-shirt and a plaque with your name (and whatever else you want on it), which becomes a permanent fixture on the wall at the bar. For some reason, this really excited Mal and me, and we joined right away.
The first beer crossed off my list was from my current favorite brewery: Lagunitas.

To eat, I ordered the Garden Salad with honey mustard on the side.
I also finished off Mal’s spicy fries, which were surprisingly awesome. I can’t quite place the spicy seasoning, but I will order these babies next time!
Beer #2 was an Allagash Big Little, which was good, but it’s not my favorite style of beer. Even still, it was nice to cross it off my list!
