Will Run for Pizza

September 7, 2010

Mal and I did our first Team In Training track workout on an actual track this afternoon. Both Track Workout 1 and Track Workout 2 were completed inside on a treadmill due to high temps, but today’s cooler weather allowed us to run outside.

I can’t even remember the last time I ran on a track!?! It definitely brought back memories of my senior year of high school. Mal and I were on the same track team back then! :-D

Track Workout 3

2 lap warm up, 2 X’s 1600M, 4 lap warm down, recovery should be the same amount of time it took you to run the interval

I ran the first 1600M in 7:48; Mal ran it in 6:55. For the second 1600M, I did it in 7:59 and Mal flew in at 6:09! He was en fuego this afternoon!

Dinner

After our track workout, Mal and I headed home to make pizza for dinner. The whole time that I was busting my butt on the track, I brainstormed what ingredients to use on the pizza. (I swear, my brain is always thinking about food! ;-) )

I ended up coming up with a delicious combination of shredded Gruyere cheese, sauteed onions, minced garlic, sliced Golden Delicious apple, and pecans. Can you say YUM!?!

I ate two pieces while watching Arrested Development with my hubby. (How adorable is Michael Cera!?)

Mal claims that tonight’s pizza is the best that I’ve ever made, which is really nice of him to say. But, I think he said the same thing about my Sausage, Spinach, and Provolone Pizza! ;-)

Our home inspection is bright and early tomorrow morning. I’m trying not to freak out, but it’s tough, especially after what happened the last time.

Enjoy the evening, guys!

P.S. I have an update about my book in the morning! :-D

I *love* Arrested Development. It is the funniest show!

I watched Flipping Out tonight (Jeff Lewis’ show) and tonight they showed him in NYC for the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year thing — I’m pretty sure I read that you went there. I kept waiting for them to maybe show you on camera!

Pecans! Love the idea of putting pecans on a pizza. I will have to “borrow” that idea.

I’m excited about tomorrow’s post! :)

OMG.. i just wanted to thank you so much for introducing me to overnight oats. I was doing the “hot” oatmeal and lovin’ it, but now it’s a whole new ballgame. I’m totally giving you credit on the idea!!!! THANKS! Great job on the running… I’m sure you’ll do great.

Your pizza looks great!

I love the track…it’s a fun departure from road/treadmill sometimes. I also find the bouncier surface to be good for my IT band!

I LOVE arrested development!!! When I did my ironman this year, at mile 15 there was a “GOB scooter” on the side of the road…it easily amused me for the next 11 miles :-P

I’ve never posted a comment on anyone’s blog except for my sister’s, but I’m really enjoying reading yours. I am constantly thinking of food while I work-out as well! My husband and I also just recently discovered the show Arrested Development, and are loving watching it over dinner! And yes, Michael Cera is completely adorable! :) I’m also very impressed with your 1600 M times! I used to be fast, but now I’m as slow as a snail!
