Hello, blog friends!
I just returned from a wonderful evening with my favorite Des Monies blogger, Chandra of Chandra’s Shenanigans. I’ve met her a number of times, so you may have seen her on CNC in the past, such as here, here, and, most recently, here. I’ve read Chandra’s blog since she started it back in February 2008, so I feel like I’ve “known” her for quite awhile now. She’s a good friend and it’s always fun to hang out with her.
Tonight, Chandra played tour guide in her city. First, she showed me around the Court District of Des Moines.

We only wandered around the area for a little bit because we had a certain destination in mind!

Chandra and I enjoyed pizza and beer for dinner at the Court Avenue Restaurant and Brewing Company.

We shard two pizzas: BBQ Chicken and White Portobello Spinach.

The BBQ Chicken pizza came with grilled chicken, red onion, fresh cilantro, and BlackHawk Stout BBQ sauce with cheddar jack and mozzarella. The White Portobello Spinach came with portobello mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and gorgonzola white sauce with mozzarella. Both were delicious and totally hit the spot. I was STARVING!!!

I also drank an Octoberfest beer. It was exactly what I wanted after a full day of travel.

Blog buddies!

After dinner, Chandra played tour guide again and gave me a driving tour of Downtown, West Des Moines, and the Jordon Creek area. We also checked out Gray’s Lake, which looks like a great place to run. I wonder if I’ll have time to try it out?
I’m meeting Chandra for breakfast tomorrow morning, so I’m hitting the hay. Good night!

I hope you enjoy your time in the good ol’ midwest! I’m from Omaha and I love it (although I still miss New York). And even though I live in Nebraska, I have to admit that Iowa is much prettier!
Beer and pizza: best meal ever!
The restaurant my hubs and I ate at Wednesday night had Octoberfest beer….I need to branch out a bit. I don’t order beer very often, but when I do I should try a seasonal one. Looks like you are having a great time!
Awww, I wish I could have joined ya guys! Glad you’re having a good time
WOW! what a delicious looking pizza!
Those pizzas look delicious – especially the BBQ Chicken one. I love anything smothered in BBQ sauce! <3 Haha!
Looks like fun! Those pizzas look delicious too! Maybe I need to make a trip to Des Moines sometime soon.
