A Little Preview

September 8, 2010

Holy cow! 8-O Where did today go!?! It seemed to whiz right by. I feel like I just woke up to start my day, but now I’m thinking about going to bed. Major time warp, dude.

Dinner

Mal was nice enough to cook dinner for us tonight. He made chicken salad with red grapes, celery, walnuts, and mayo in the mix.

He ate his chicken salad as a sandwich on whole wheat bread, but I put mine on top of an arugula salad.

I’m seriously considering a donut for dessert. I swear, they’re calling my name from the pantry! ;-)

Even though this is virtual and I can’t actually SMELL all the goodies, I’m getting really excited! I hope you raise gobs of money :)

I wish I could bake so that I could contribute, but I think I might actually turn people away from the sale with my horrendous baking skills! :( Oh well, I’ll just have to participate in the bidding and reap others wonderful talents. :)

Hi Tina!
This is my first time commenting on your blog, however, I read it every single day!
You are such an inspiration that I’ve started my own blog (and added you to my blog roll!).
I am recovering from an eating disorder and I admire your healthy balance of eating and exercising each day.
Thanks for being such a positive influence! Check out my brand new blog! I hope to become as experienced as you someday.
Sincerely,
Lainie

I tend to be a savory food person and not big into dessert but the pictures of the baked goodies are making my mouth water. Yummy. Good luck with the bake sale!

I’ve always been wary of grapes in salads because I hate crunching on seeds, but you make it look worth the risk! :D

Reading about your chicken salad salad reminded me of a two-hour conversation I had with my brother-in-law last week about how to distinguish between a chicken salad (meaning a salad with chicken) versus a chicken salad (with mayo, etc.). We entertained ourselves by coming up with all kinds of annunciations. Anyway, random thought! The chicken salad salad looks delish!

Your chicken salad salad (is that like pizza pizza? lol!) looks delish!

Those white chocolate dusted balls at the bottom look awesome, I imagine they are Oreo-like?

I’d love to participate in the bake sale! I better decide what to make quickly. :)

@Caitlin: Caitlin, if you tear chunks of tofu into odd chicken-esque kind of pieces and then bake it like you would regular tofu, you can get kind of close, at least in texture. Adding in a little poultry seasoning (which is veg) will enhance the flavor.
