Work and Play

August 1, 2010

Happy Sunday! 8-)

Today has been a nice mix of work and play. I accomplished a lot of things that I needed to do, but I also enjoyed a number of things that I wanted to do. Basically, I’ve had a nice, little Sunday. ;-)

Snack

I tried to sleep in this morning, but Body Pump was calling my name. Before class, I snacked on Pumpkin-N-Spice bar, which was really delicious. It’s one of my favorite flavors as I love all things pumpkin! :-D

IMG_0001.JPG

Breakfast

After Body Pump, Mal whipped up a quick breakfast. He made me an open-faced egg sandwich on a piece of whole wheat toast with shredded cheddar cheese and hot sauce. It totally hit the spot.

IMG_0052.JPG

On the side, I drank a chocolate protein shake mixed with Almond Breeze and iced coffee.

IMG_0055.JPG

Snack

After breakfast, Mal and I cleaned our apartment from top to bottom. (We’re such slobs during the work week!) Once we finished cleaning, I snacked on a sliced peach.

IMG_0057.JPG

Then, we visited an Open House!!! :-D

IMG_0069.JPG

Remember when Mal and I almost bought a house? Well, we’re back at it again! But, this time we have a whole new perspective and a kick-ass realtor (not the moron we dealt with last time).

Mal and I really liked the house that we visited today, but we didn’t love it. It was located on a fairly busy road and the living room was pretty tiny. We won’t be making an offer on this one, but it was still fun to see a potential home. I’m sure there will be many more Open Houses in our future!

IMG_0070.JPG

Lunch

When we returned home from house hunting, it was time for lunch. Mal and I shared a peanut butter and banana sandwich on whole wheat bread with raw veggies and Goddess dressing for dipping on the side.

IMG_0073.JPG

IMG_0076.JPG

We ate lunch while we caught up with last week’s Bethenny Getting Married. (I’m starting to realize that I watch a lot of bad television. Should I be embarrassed by my show selections!? :-? )

IMG_0077.JPG

After lunch, we took Turd Ferguson to the park.

IMG_0081.JPG

Murphy had a great time running around with Dad and Mom.

IMG_0084.JPG

We attempted to take a family portrait, but Murphy was much more interested in playing with the Yellow Lab on the other side of the park.

IMG_0091.JPG

M & T!!

IMG_0087.JPG

I love this sign!

IMG_0093.JPG

Snack

A little while ago, I snacked on some dried pineapple that the folks from MegaFruit sent me to sample a couple of weeks ago. I love pretty much love all dried fruit, so I was happy to take them up on their offer.

IMG_0099.JPG

Mmm, delicious! I practically ate the entire bag, but there really wasn’t much dried pineapple in it.

IMG_0100.JPG

I also snacked on some pistachios before dinner.

Dinner

Mal and I were both feeling lazy tonight, so we made ham and cheese sandwiches on toasted bread for dinner tonight. It wasn’t the most exciting meal, but it sure was tasty! ;-) I love a good ham and cheese sandwich every once in awhile.

To satisfy my sweet tooth, I made a packet of instant oatmeal. I added a little bit of maple syrup and some walnuts to the mix.

What are you having for dinner tonight?

Aw I hope you guys find a nice home to move into if you’re looking for houses again. :)

For dinner I’m having veggies and roasted potatoes. Yum!

Sounds like a fabulous Sunday. I wouldn’t have been too thrilled with that house being on such a hill either. And the small living room would turn me off too. I hope you find something you love one day!

What a great stop sign!

I have been thinking about a panini for days now – I’ve done our dinner planning for this week – perhaps next week.

Sounds like you have had a great day – I love being able to both do productive things and fun things!

Paninis sound amazing! I’ve definitely been craving mozzarella and tomato. Also, super jealous of your pumpkin score, I am really into everything pumpkin-flavored lately.

That is a fabulous STOP sign!! Genius :)
I had hummus encrusted tempeh, with cocoa durum wheat ad my favourite roast veggies :)

We spent our afternoon house hunting as well. I wish I had your good attitude about it! It can get so frustrating and tiresome! We are having naan pizza tonight..and probably some carrot sticks on the side.

@Tina: The house wasn’t on a hill. It was on a busy road, which made us nervous with Murphy.

I was going to make a nice Sunday dinner but I’m not really hungry and it’s already 5:15! I might scrap the idea and have PB&J :)

Yum, panini’s! it looks like you had a great (and productive) Sunday! I wish I could say the same for myself! Maybe it’s the weather? I feel less accomplished when the weather is not cooperating.

We made a huge brunch today with brown sugar glazed ham, potatoes with fried onion, scrambled eggs, biscuits, watermelon, cantaloupe and grapes….all was dairy and gluten free. I consider the leftovers to be dinner tonight! Looking at houses is so much fun. Enjoy your evening!

I’m going to have what I like to call my Garbage Disposal salad. I more or less go in the fridge and find random toppings that would make a great salad, and then throw them all together. Tonight, I’m thinking lettuce, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, and carrots mixed with gorgonzola cheese, BBQ chicken breast, and ranch dressing!

Ooh yum, that dried pineapple looks really good! I just got myself some breakfast so dinner is a LONG way off for me – but that’s what happens when you live on the other side of the world :P

But tomato, basil and mozzarella paninis sound amazing! :)

You definitely should not be embarrassed by your TV selections. One of the fun parts about being a grownup is that you get to watch fun things on TV instead of all educational shows. Ha ha! I like Bethanny a lot more on her own show than I ever did on Real Housewives.

Eggs on toast is the best meal — I could eat it every day!
