I get excited about weird things, like Jersey Shore, 80′s Fitness Fads, Barney Butter, new Body Pump releases, and eating breakfast at the Wheelhouse Diner. Other people probably don’t find these things all that cool, but that’s okay. We all have our “things” that make us happy, right? Well, here’s another thing to add to my list! (Yes, I’m a mega dork.)
So, you know the stainless steel straws that I use every morning in my iced coffee? Well, these babies are FINALLY in my OpenSky shop! Yes!!!!!

For many months, the folks at OpenSky have been looking high and low for a seller who produces stainless steel straws. About a week ago, they finally found one and now you can buy them in my shop.
This Opensky exclusive is a variety pack of surgical-grade stainless steel straws. It includes 4 large straws, 4 small straws, and 1 straw cleaning brush. (I don’t use a brush; I just throw my straws in the dishwasher.) The large straws measure 9.5″ in length and the small straws measure 7″ in length. They are dishwasher safe and have a bend for your sipping pleasure!
I used to use a plastic straw every morning in my iced coffee and just throw it away. These straws are environmentally-friendly and budget-friendly. You’ll never have to buy a straw again and you’ll help keep all of those plastic straws out of our landfills!
Ok, I’m done geeking-out about stainless steel straws!
Workout
After breakfast, I hit the gym for a Body Pump class. I haven’t been to BP in at least 2 weeks, so I was jazzed to attend class today. Unfortunately, my body didn’t feel the same way. I felt soooo weak! I even decreased my weight on a few tracks and, by the end of class, my whole body felt like jello. I guess I need to be a little more consistent with my strength training, huh?
I definitely struggled to get through class, but the whole time I kept thinking to myself: Exercise should make you strong, not skinny. (Wise words from Katie of Sweet Tater.) Reminding myself why I was exercising motivated me to push through to the end of each track. Simply thinking about becoming stronger made me feel that way.
Lunch
When I got home, I threw together a soft taco with leftovers from last night’s dinner. I know some people hate leftovers, but I love them!

On the side, I enjoyed a sweet, ripe peach.

I have a busy afternoon ahead: packing for Orlando, heading downtown for a Starbucks event, and then meeting friends for drinks. See ya!

I love leftovers too
I used to get excited for new body pump classes, too! Or any Les Mills for that matter. But I havent taken a class in years..my current gym doesn’t offer any :/ Oh how they’re missed..
Stainless steel straws?! That’s really neat! I rarely use straws, but these might just go on my wish list.
I love mexican leftovers. Period.
The new look is adorable. Gotta go for a refresh every once and awhile. Everytime I see them on someone else’s blog it makes me want one too. Love that Murphy became part of the focus.
Those straws also look great although I think somehow I’d find a way to mangle them in my dishwasher!
As a sidebar, I’m a finalist in a recipe contest! I’d love your support. To vote, see my video here: http://bit.ly/bXKr5j and then click that you “like it.” (Note that you will have to log into your youtube account to vote and if you don’t have one, you’ll have to create one. I promise it only takes a minute!) If nothing else you …get to see me look awkward on video. :-S
Hi Tina! I’m a longtime reader of your blog and finally decided to comment. I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the new design of your blog! It looks amazing!
i’ve been wanting those straws!
@Freya (Brit Chick Runs): what fading thing? Am I missing something?
I’m a happy girl when I have leftovers in the fridge too:)
those straws are cute! i use glass ones that are much thicker, perfect for boba tea, if i drank that @ home!
Leftovers rock! Now I’m craving buffalo sauce…
My pre-teen daughter still uses a lot of straws…those would be awesome for her! And I LOVE taking leftovers to work with me for lunch! I usually make extra just for this purpose.
i can’t wait to look at those surgical steel straws!
Those straws look so cool! I’m going to check them out now. Have a good time in Orlando
I love leftovers, too. I honestly don’t understand why people don’t! Food almost always tastes better the next day (unless it’s seafood. Then sometimes not).
Those straws looks awesome! Oh I wish I wasn’t moving into a sorority house so that I could sip drinks with my straws all day
I get excited about Jersey Shore too, haha. I love the look of the straws! I also love steel straws because they get kinda icy when you drink through them.
I LOVE those straws!
The new blog look is so cute.
Hi Tina! I’ve been reading your blog for awhile but have never commented. I appreciate your love for pugs and body pump
and Boston! I just moved to Boston this weekend from Baltimore, although I grew up on the Cape.
Just a quick ques – I fell in love with body pump and have been taking it nearly every week while living in Bmore for the past 4 years. I don’t think it’s as popular here in MA? Do you know of any good gyms in/near Brookline that offer it? I’ve looked at the Les Mills site, and there are a couple, but it’s always so hard finding new gyms online. Any suggestions for good gyms? (sorry if you live nowhere near Brookline and have no clue haha)
I definitely think that exercise should make you strong, not skinny. STRONG is the new skinny! The only “strength training” I do is the 30 Day Shred occasionally… I heard that it’s actually meant to be mainly a strength workout, so I do it as a strength workout. Am I wrong?
mmm I want some of those straws!!!! I’m so excited!! Thanks Tina!
I think leftovers are brilliant, particularly when you can use them in new ways. In fact, I’m having leftovers tonight. Woot!
Sad– can’t see your beautiful photos on my iPhone when I read your blog!! Hope it gets worked out soon!
Very cool straws!! I love leftovers, especially when I’m making hubby his lunch! lol
I think that straw is too cool! and still loving the new CNC!
I don’t mind leftovers either. Sometimes I actually look forward to figuring out new things to do with leftovers.
I love leftovers!! Makes for great lunches the next day.
I’m in love with your new look, btw:)
I know I’m a bit late on the change bandwagon, but I just wanted to say that I really love the changes. It’s very simple and pleasing to the eye. Love the colors, love the font, love the organization, and LOVE the header. I saw that people were getting all bent out of shape about the google reader but what’s one mouse click in a day? Really people. Anyways, just wanted to send a little encouragement your way. I hope that if YOU love the new changes that you will keep them. I think it’s fabulous!
I’m loving the new photo fade you have going on here!
I really wish my gym would offer Body Pump. They have a similar class, but are not consistent with the instructors…so i feel like i have to “re-learn” the workout each time. I loved Body Pumps structure!
@Janna @ Janna’s Keeping it Real: If you visit the Body Pump website, you can search for classes in your area.
Ooooh! A Starbucks even?? I would totally be into that one!
when I’m not in the mood to workout I try to get myself to do a weight routine since in the end when you have more muscle you’ll burn more calories throughout the day. Obviously both cardio and weight training are good and should both be done regularly but on those days when I’m trying to talk myself into doing neither…I will do a quick weight workout and feel good knowing I’m building muscle and burning more calories!
What a gorgeous peach. And people wonder why its my favorite fruit!
I love love love those straws. I’ve been obsessively looking for them for months.
Yay stainless steel straws, I just ordered them! I can’t bare to throw away another plastic straw at home!
Thanks girl for the straw idea!!! I’m totally buying those when my Sam’s Club stash of straws runs out!
This is the great article. Thanks
