Rise ‘N’ Shine

August 19, 2010

Rise and shine, it’s running time!

I bounded out of bed bright and early for a 4-mile run this morning. Before I headed out, I made myself a mini breakfast of whole wheat bread with Barney Butter and banana slices on top.

My run went well this morning. My legs felt like a million pounds when I first started out, but once I warmed up, I cruised along. I ended up finishing in 35:43, which is an 8:55 pace. Not too shabby for 6:30 AM before I had my iced coffee! ;-)

On my run this morning, I tried out my new kicks. My buddy (and former colleague) from New Balance sent them to me for my marathon training. The 759′s are lightweight, but supportive, even a little cushion-y. They’re cool-looking, too! :-D

While I was out seizing the day, these two guys snoozed away.

They’re so cute! ;-)

After my run, I refueled with half of a banana with Teddie peanut butter and a coffee + soy milk + chocolate protein powder drink.

After breakfast, Mal and I visited the house that we’re considering making an offer on for the second time. (FYI: It’s not the house in my previous post. That was just some random house we looked at.) We’re getting closer to making an offer, but we’re not rushing into anything either. My thinking is if it was meant to be, it will be.

Feel Great Weight

This week’s Feel Great Weight post was inspired by all of my travel this past month: 4 Ways to Keep Your Waistline in Check While Traveling.

Question of the Day

Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever had an unsettling/eerie experience?

P.S. My college finances post is coming soon. I didn’t have time to finish it this morning, but it’s almost done! Stay tuned!

Just the thought of ghosts creep me out.
Nice run, I’d never be able to get going that early! And that picture of Mal and Murphy is so cute. :)

OMG, yes I certainly believe in spirits. I live in an area that has so much history with the Civil War. My mom is a realtor and has had multiple experiences when she goes into houses. It really creeps me out!

I love the new running shoes, I just switched from Asics to Nike FreeRun+ quite a different experience.
Here is Savannah, almost everyone believes in ghosts, ghost tours are all over. I have never encountered one but spirits live on in my opinion (i hope at least)

I don’t know if I believe but the thought of them, certianly scare me! The last time my husband was out of town was over Halloween and I scared myself so much that I drove to my parents house for an impromptu sleepover at my parents house:)

I wish I had the motivation to wake up that early for a run! Perhaps one day. I am SO not a morning person though!

I totally have a ghost in my apartment. And I lived in a haunted house too where the dead bolt on the door would rattle by iteself as if someone was trying to use a key to open the door but no one was there. And also there was always a draft. Freakkyyy

Great job on the run! I always laugh when I get home from a run, feeling ready to seize the day, and my husband is still sound asleep in bed.

I hope you write a bit about your home buying process on CNC! We just bought a house and I would have loved to have read about someones experience online. I know it’s not really related to what your blog is about directly, but I think your readers will find it really interesting!

I like the new shoes! THey’re cute! Great work on such a good pace before your coffee. I sure wouldn’t have been able to pull that one off!

I’m not sure if I believe in “ghosts” – maybe “spirits” (I guess that would just be another name for ghosts). I jsut read Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger and it’s alla bout ghosts. It’s AWESOME.

I do believe in ghosts! Actually, I used to manage the front desk of a gym that was in an older building, and several times when I would close up (usually around 10pm) I would hear footsteps when I was alone in the building. Also, I had a routine for when I closed. I would start by tidying up the locker rooms, then do a general sweep of the facility, turning off machines, re-racking weights, putting away magazines etc. Almost every time I closed, I would then come back to the women’s locker room, the lights would be back on, all the locker doors opened, and paper towels all over the floor. I would clean it all up, turn out the lights and then finish closing by closing out the register etc. Frequently before I would lock up, I would see the lights on again in the women’s locker room, and again all the locker doors would be open and towels on the floor. It scared me the first time it happened, but after a while it just became an annoyance, having to clean up locker rooms several times. A few mornings, if I wasn’t opening, whoever did open would ask why I skipped the women’s locker room when I closed. Another time all the showers were turned on. I worked there for a little over a year, and me and two other staff members were the only ones who experienced anything amiss.

No, I don’t believe in ghosts, although once in year seven I took part in a seance that got kind of weird and unexplainably… I’m much happier thinking about peanut butter, though :)

Absolutely. My best friend can see them as can her daughter. I have felt them, but thank God I have never seen one. It would freak me out!
