80′s Fitness Fads

Home sweet home. I loved waking up in my own bed and enjoying a homemade breakfast with a pug sleeping on my lap. It doesn’t get better than that! :-D

This morning, I enjoyed a wonderful bowl of overnight oats and a glass of toasted coconut iced coffee with vanilla soymilk.

In the mix:

  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soymilk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Walnuts
  • Chocolate-covered cranberries
  • Barney Butter

I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile, so I apologize if it seems a bit random or out of place. Even still, I swear it’ll be fun! ;-)  I wrote this post while participating in a blog campaign by Kraft’s Crystal Light Pure Fitness and FitnessMagazine.com compensated me for my participation in this project. 80′s Fitness Fads

As you know, I recently made three workout videos for Fitness Magazine where we tried some fun, new fitness trends: hula hooping, retro–robics, and belly dancing workouts. You can see me in action here!

I had a ton of fun trying the new workouts. I especially liked hula hooping because it reminded me of being a kid and playing outside in the yard. How fun were some of those toys we had as kids?! I’d play and play and not even realize that I was exercising. For instance, Get In Shape Girl was one of my favorite “games.” I actually blogged about my love for it back in March.

Besides Get In Shape Girl, I loved my Pogo Ball.

And Skip-It. Remember this thing?

My sister actually owned the Skip-It, so, of course, there were plenty of fights over it. She was actually really, really good at it, and I’d always steal it from her and try to beat her score, but I never even came close.

And, of course, there was the Pocket Rocker.

I LOVE that you still have a Pocket Rocker. I seriously think the 80′s had the best music but um, that’s probably because I grew up in the 80′s LOL.

Toasted Coconut coffee is my all time fav coffee!

dancing sounds like it would be really fun and not even like a workout…
that pogo ball thing looks pretty interesting too….
my favorite way to stay hydrated is eating “water food” like oraanges and melon :)

Umm I DEFINITELY had the Skip It AND Pogo Ball, loved them both like crazy. In high school one of my friends found her old Pocket Rocker and we were pretty obsessed.
I remember watching “Mousercise” at like 6 AM on the Disney Channel when I was a kid. Mickey and Minnie doing aerobics with a bunch of spandex-clad kids. Best thing ever.

I used to LOVE my skip-it! Except I would swing it so fast it would spin in the air…thus making the counting meter off haha

I loved the skip it. I was skip it queen at my school. I could do it fast and I could jump it when others were doing it. Mine was yellow and pink and I loved it until the movers broke it in one of our many childhood moves. :-(

I remember getting a skipit as a gift for finishing some elementary grade. I was so excited it was such a big deal! And then I always tripped and ended up bashing it off my foot, ankle or shin. Ouch!

I loved trampolines. I remember my friend had a huge one that we would seriously spend hours on! We were just playing, but jumping on those things is a serious workout!
