Man, I’m such an old lady sometimes. I totally feel 30-years-old right now. I definitely cannot “hang” like I used to. But, honestly, I think I’m okay with that!
My evening started off with a lovely tasting event at Starbucks. A bunch of Boston-area bloggers and I were invited to try their new Galápagos San Cristóbal coffee.

The “Galapagos Island” is the first coffee branded as part of the “Starbucks Reserves.” This coffee is sourced from the Galapagos Island (more specifically, the San Cristobal island) and it is the first time that Starbucks has ever sourced coffee from this growing region.

Starbucks only has a small amount of this coffee, so less than 700 Starbucks will sell the new Galápagos San Cristóbal coffee. I guess you could say that it’s a very special coffee!

For the new “reserves” coffees, Starbucks is featuring a new “pour over” method to brew single cups of coffee. This method gives the coffee a fresh, full-bodied flavor.

I really enjoyed the Galápagos coffee. It was medium bodied with strong cocoa notes. Mmm, very nice. I wonder how it would taste as iced coffee?

After the Starbucks tasting, I met a bunch of friends at Sidebar in downtown Boston. The night basically went downhill from here!

And my age quickly dwindled from 30 to 23.

I drank lots of crappy beer.

But, I had a blast with my friends!

We may or may not have done a “Surfer On Acid” shot.

Yes, I embraced my inner 23-year-old tonight.

I did not plan to drink tonight. (But, aren’t those the best nights!?!) To bed I go!!!

What a night!! Going from taste testing rare coffee to drinking crappy beer! Love it! Looks like you had tons of fun! Those nights are so necessary. Have a great sleep!!
I’m only 24 and feel like I can’t hang like I used to! Doing a shot in the middle of the week? Pretty impressive!
Good luck in the morning! I spent two nights last weekend helping the youngest of my friends celebrate turning 21. I have never ever felt my age (which is only 28!) more than I did when Sunday morning rolled around. It was a good time though, and she’s still talking about how awesome it was. Definitely worth it.
I am so jealous you had that awesome tasting! I went to the first starbucks in seattle today. I hope they will sell that brew there.
Love it! Sometimes you just need a night with girlfriends to forget about everything else for a couple of hours and just have fun.
That coffee sounds gooood. Thanks for the information. I wonder if it will fly off the shelves?
I am 23 and while I am a very cheap date I do enjoy a little mid week drinking and day drinking. I keep telling myself to enjoy it because mid week drinking and day drinking will not be appropriate forever but it sure is fun while it lasts.
That coffee is coming to my local starbucks in San Francisco, so I’m excited to give it a try! I hope the taste is good!
bahaha when you text me at noon my time asking if rain boots were suitable bar attire, I knew something was up…;)
Love this post!
I’m 30, too… and had my “23″ weekend last weekend when a friend was visiting… it was so much fun! But trust me, I paid for it the next week
But so glad we had a fun weekend!
Great pictures! Looks like you all had a blast!
Sometime you gotta do what you gotta do… Even if that means a surfer on acid
I think the real marker of age is how you feel the morning *after* one of these nights
That said, I AM 23 and I rarely drink (seriously, I had two beers during my recent 4 months of travelling…), so last week when I have half a bottle of wine, I felt rather eurghy the next day!
I’m also 23 but on most weeknights I feel twice my age! My boyfriend and I are usually in bed by 9:30pm…we both wake up super early for work, so it’s rarely that we go out drinking on weeknights. Not in college anymore I guess
Those are always the fun night, when everything is a surprise. I’m 27 so a night like that, I’d call my ”inner 21 yr.old days” lol
I love when I let loose and just go with it like you did tonight
I feel like such an old lady most of the time too…
i used to work for starbucks, and i LOVED those tastings! truly amazing the flavors that come from coffee, right?!
Oh the nights that you plan on not having fun ALWAYS turn out to be the best! On occasion, I will embrace my inner 23 year old; however, Im never too productive the next day
Looks like you had a great time!
Hahaha this IS a blog about balance, isn’t it? Balancing out fancy rare coffee with crappy beer sounds very nice.
I know I cuoldn’t hang with all that anymore. I would try…and have fun doing so…but would definitely pay for it later. Hope you wake up well rested and feeling okay.
A night out like that is refreshing in a lot of ways. Looks like a blast!
I can barely hang anymore. I’m hanging on for dear life every time I go out..lol.
Haha, I often remind myself that I am not in college anymore whenever I go out with my friends. But usually, this realization doesn’t come until the next morning when its too late!
sometimes you need a night full of crappy beer! the strabucks coffee looks like blue bottle style.
those are very fun nights! I do that once in a while too, but the next day I feel like a train hit me, lol! Its worth it though!!!
Glad you had a great night! xoxo
That beer tower reminded me a night I had at dueling piano bar about 6 months ago. Crappy bear, good friends, and realizing I am getting older. lol
Wow you are full of surprises. Partying on a Wednesday night, you go girl.
I’m the worst 20 year old ever because my idea of a good time is dinner out and and early bedtime. I do like to party every once in awhile though- once in awhile being the operative word!! Love that you went out on a weeknight
haha I’m curious as to what a “surfer on acid” shot is?!
And it’s totally fine (and encouraged) to embrace your inner 23 year old every once in a while
hahaha it looks like you had a lot of fun!
Tina this is awesome! I too usually go to bed early, not stay out late, but every once in a while it is like I am back in college! Drinking, staying up late, dancing, etc.
I’m with other commenters, what is a “surfer on acid” shot?
i’m only 22, and i sometimes feel like an old lady! but i love those nights where i unexpectedly down a few too may drinks! bravo! haha
@Danielle (Runs on Green): @holly @ couchpotatoathlete: I have no idea!! LOL! Perhaps Google it?
1) drinking coffee before going out is the best decision ever and 2) I’ve never been to Sidecar – what did you think of the scene?
I’m going out tonight for a happy hour(s) at McFaddens….let’s see how old this 25 year old feels in the morning!
hahah love it. Oh man this post reminded me of my university days.
What a fun night – it’s totally acceptable to let out your inner 23 year old sometimes!
@Leah: The scene is just so-so, but they sell $7 pitchers, so I like it!
Hahaha I AM 23 years old! The other night a group of friends went out and drank crappy beer and I felt like a 30 year old. The beer was gross and I just laughed at the people around me chugging budlight. I did enough of that in undergrad! lol Looks like we switched ages!
I feel that you are always making excuses for drinking! Be proud, dangit! Embrace the beer = )
I totally can’t hang like I did at 23. With getting up so early in the morning for work, by 10 I’m exhaused!
*sigh* i am sad to say that i am 23, and haven’t been able to hang since i was 20-21. i guess some of us just grow into old ladies sooner than the average bear… haha!
can you brew it like normal coffee?
i think, no matter how old we get, we should enjoy the occasional opportunity to embrace our inner “23″ year old
)
awh those are always the best night! that makes me think of (and miss!!!) college!! wahhh
Great pics and congrats! I think 30 is much cooler than 20;)
I am 40…my girlfriends and I just got back from our 15th annual Girls Weekend down the Cape …so we were embracing our inner 25year olds”….best time ever…gets better every year…but longer to recover…going on a week and still feeling it! You need to less loose once in a while!
Ahh! Sidebar. Ohhh Sidebar! I have SO many memories there.
Those mugs are awesome! I’ve used the pour over method before but with a reusable filter, those mugs would make it even better!
My dad was doing pourover brewing for years, now it’s so trendy! Go figure, it happens after I switch to the aeropress. Is my dad more food-trend aware than I am?
I got my pour over brewer for like $2…I saw one for $25 the other day. It’s a cup with a hole in the bottom. What gives?
Maybe I’ll learn how to do pottery and make my own. Tina, would you put them in your opensky shop? Haha, kidding (mostly)
Ironically enough, I’m sitting here drinking my own cup of Galapagos as I read this post! It’s good stuff. Glad you could enjoy the “classy” and the “trashy” all in one night!
Looks like fun! Wait until you are 40. I feel 20 but there are days when I realize my age. Keep thinking young and doing what you are doing!
