As you probably know, my husband thinks pug meat is delicious. Apparently, Murphy does too!
Check out what Murphy got a hold of this morning. It’s the little stuffed pug that sits on our bed. (My webmaster gave it to me long before Murphy came into my life.) A pug eating a pug. Isn’t that pug cannibalism?

The whole situation was pretty funny. Murphy knew that he wasn’t supposed to have the stuffed pug (just like he knows he’s not supposed to eat socks), so I chased him around the house for a good 5 minutes before I got it away from him. Ok, so, I may have not tried my hardest. I was having fun too!
Breakfast
Ok, this might sound crazy, but I think I like Teddie Peanut Butter more than Barney Butter. I know, it’s crazy, but this morning, the Teddie just tasted so much better.

For breakfast, I had a Sandwich Thin with Teddie spread on one half and Barney Butter on the other with banana slices on top of both. Teddie + banana is an amazing combination. Perhaps banana just tastes better with Teddie? All I know is that I was lovin’ the Teddie this morning!

As always, I enjoyed a glass of iced coffee with breakfast.

Question of the Day
Not implying that you’ve ever eaten your own kind, but…
What’s the strangest food (or drink) you’ve ever eaten?
The strangest foods I’ve eaten are bone marrow and cow tongue. I tried both at Toro last summer. The cow tongue was pretty good, but the bone marrow grossed me out. The flavor was okay, but the consistency was nasty. Ick.

P.S. I’ve finally accepted the fact that my photos from February 2008 – December 2008 + September 2009 are truly gone, but I’ve decided to republish some of my favorite posts with new photos. So, just a heads up, you might see some random posts over the next few weeks. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them just as much the second time around!

Oh Murphy…lol. I don’t really know any weird foods I’ve eaten? I’m usually too chicken to try something crazy. But I do eat lots of weird combinations.
We have a Mr. Bigalsworth stuffed toy from the Austin Powers movie and our cats attack it. It is so funny because if you press on it’s belly, it says “we don’t gnaw on our kitty”. It cracks us up every time. Animals are such great entertainment and companionship! Sorry about your photos.
Love the pic of Murphy…it’s so funny when dogs know they shouldn’t do something! They’re smarter than people give them credit for.
Strangest food I’ve ever eaten is raw jellyfish salad at a sushi place in Lake Taho. Literally, it was just tentacles with sesame dressing!
Bahaha he’s a little cannibal.
That breakfast looks delish! I’m gonna make somethin’ like it for lunch.
I tried crickets once. Not kidding. My friends gave a bag of “spicy” flavored crickets (they were dead already, of course) to me as a gag gift and dared me to try them. I have no food fear, so I went with the flow and chomped a couple down. They were….ummmm…..crunchy. I’m not sure I’ll be eating them again anytime soon (or ever), but now I can be a part of that group of weirdos who has eaten bugs. Yay?
Ahh Murphy is too cute! My dog is a dachshund and has a dachshund toy that she likes to try to rip up haha.
Hmm I guess I’m not that adventurous when it comes to eating! I can’t really think of anything that interesting that I’ve eaten. That picture of Murphy is hilarious!
My cockerspaniel eats a stuffed sasquatch that we keep on our bed!
I’m about to have a similar breakfast!
Sorry about you photos.
Weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten???? There were times in Japan that I didn’t know what I was eating..heart or liver? Chicken, duck? It was an adventure!!
Ha– both of my dogs have mini toys of themselves, and I swear, they like those toys better than all of their other ones!
Toro has some pretty interesting stuff on their menu! I always look but never order anything. I’m such a wuss. I ate escargot once. That picture of Murphy is adorable!!
So cute! I’m an incredibly unadventurous eater, so there’s nothing I’ve had that’s weird. I’m not tempted to try the crazy stuff.
The strangest thing I’ve ever eaten would probably have to be some random animal innards at a Chinese restaurant. The good part was that I didn’t know what I was eating until after I was finished!
Aw, that sucks your photos are gone! How frustrating.
The strangest thing I’ve ever eaten was raw octopus or shark. Both were not up my alley.
Murphy is bar far one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen. What a sweetheart! And he was just playing with the stuffed pug — like we used to play with Barbie dolls (tell Murphy I’m on his side!)
The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten is tripe — sheep stomach. I didn’t know I was eating it at the time, but it was very chewy and didn’t seem like any meat I had ever eaten. It was prepared by a friend who only said “eat this and I’ll tell you what it is later. If I tell you now, you won’t eat it”.
And she’s right — I never would have tried that knowing what it was!
Okay, mine doesn’t sound so weird after reading some of these comments, but I think the weirdest thing I’ve eaten is alligator. To be exact, it was “gator on a stick” at a peach festival in this itty bitty tiny town in GA when I lived there. It wasn’t terrible- I know this is cliche, but it tasted like chicken, only A LOT greasier.
OMG, that is the cutest pug photo yet!! My strangest foods… chicken feet, jellyfish, frog’s legs, natto…
ughhhh i had bone marrow one time! it was by accident. i was eating ribs in cancun and the bone broke in half. just thinking about it makes me want to vom. i’ve eaten zebra, ostrich, eland, kudu, alligator, and crocodile tail in africa
There was a fabulous sushi restaurant in my college town (Gainesville, FL). The sushi chef offered me sea urchin with a raw quail yolk on top. It wasn’t bad! The yolk made it rich and creamy. I guess that’s pretty bizarre, though.
Puggalism? ahha. Murphy is so adorable!! The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten….hmm. I’m thinking alligator at this rando biker bar in FL – it was fried and chewy! yuck.
Murphy is so cute. I have never tried Teddie PB. Have you ever tried TJ’s Valencia PB with flaxseeds? It is EXTREMELY addictive!
I’m celebrating cookie Friday later on today with a healthy cookie post.
Back when I wasn’t vegan, the weirdest thing I tried was snails when I went to France.

OH the pugtrastrophe. The horror! But oh so cute.
Glad you are going to re-post, bring it! We love to reminiscence.
I have eaten duck before on accident. No thank you, Donald. Ick.
I think the strangest thing I have eaten is cow tongue. My aunt once tricked me into eating it, not telling me what it was but only after I had tasted it. I have also eaten ostrich, which surprisingly wasn’t bad at all.
I’ve eaten bugs … I think it’s pretty much the weirdest thing I’ve had, ever
Murphy is too precious! We want to adopt a pub in our near future and I’m still going back and forth between a yellow/black or all black one … I guess I’ll have to fall in love with a little creature
hahaha thats hilarious pic of murph!!! I tried octopus once, and It wasn’t on purpose…yuckk did not like at all! happy friday!!
I generally eat strange things, haha! But, the strangest by far was pancreas.
I was at an Italian restaurant with my parents, brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew. We were in Brooklyn, my dad’s old stomping grounds… born & raised! Some of the menu items were in Italian, including a sandwich that the waitress recommended, which she said was the best one on the menu. We asked what it was, to which she said, “I’ll tell you after you eat it!”
We ordered the sandwich, shared it, and enjoyed it! It was definitely a feta/goat/etc. sort of cheese with a thinly sliced meat sandwiched between italian bread. I thought the meat was some kind of roast beef and was surprised to find out that it was pancreas!
To this day I’m not sure what animal the pancreas came from. I may order it again, as it was really yummy!
If it doesn’t look good I don’t eat it…
Murphy is so cute with the mini pug toy. My cat, when he was still a kitten, used to carry around a stuffed cat (the ones with marbles inside so it sounds like they are purring). It was so cute. The stuffed cat was probably bigger than him at the time.
I love Teddie pb! Idk how they get it so smooth and runny….do you have a Trader Joes?? Theirs is *quite* similar (and super inexpensive)!
Poor Murph doesn’t know what he’s doing!
I can’t think of anything really weird I’ve ever eaten… guess I need to get out more… starting with Germany for Oktoberfest!
raw horse
I want a copy of that picture of Murphy!! I don’t have a dog, but seeing him makes me want to get one…he’s adorable.
I went to Italy a couple summers ago, and we had a tour guide with us in Rome who ordered lunch for all of us in Italian so we didn’t know what to expect. When we were served pasta with squid ink (BLACK sauce), we were surprised! It looked like everyone was eating Oreos…hilarious!
Teddie is the best! I like the unsalted super chunky…but for some reason I can NEVER find it! Only salted chunky…
Did you know that the Teddie factory is in Everett, MA? I wonder if they give tours…and/or free PB samples…
Don’t you feel like a bad pet parent when they do something “bad”, and in lieu of correcting them, it’s just too funny and you can’t help but laugh? April (our white German shepherd/corgi) uses the coffee table as a springboard to the couch. Really we should stop it, but I just laugh!
Hi there! Well I bought a 10 dollar jar of barney butter and ordered the little packets online awhile back. I kept thinking I was missing something, but to be honest.. I didn’t really like it. It’s a shame though because it’s just sitting in my cupboard. The barney butter packets are sealed. =( I wish my friends were more into trying new foods.
Ah I forgot to add that I found Teddie peanut butter and love love love it. I went through 2 jars in a VERY short amount of time. It’s delicious! I am definitely more of a peanut butter girl.
I would have to say beef tartare. I’ve eaten it twice – once in Paris and once in culinary school – and I must say, I am just NOT a fan of raw ground beef!!
I am sooo not adventorous. But I have tried a calf fry once. Not an experience I will be repeating anytime soon.
Even Murphy’s able to make cannibalism look cute.
This totally makes me laugh. I once asked for a pug puppy for Christmas one year and my mom got me a stuffed pug just like this one. I still keep it close by…or maybe even on my bed. Yes, I’m shameless.
I’ve actually never tried either of those peanut butters…is that terrible? Am I deprived? I’m SO excited for the HLS! Which reminds me…I still need to find a dress!
That picture Murphy has a look in his eyes of like “what?” Our dogs know the socks are ours. But to Leo they make better play toys than any thing we’ve bought at the store.
The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten is chocolate covered crickets in Germany. Kind of crunchy and sweet. I actually liked them and asked for them a lot as a kid. But I had all sorts of weird stuff back then that people turn their noses up at.
oh man, i blogged about this the other day! when i was in high school we went on a trip to Puebla, Mexico where we were invited to a really fancy state dinner. one of the first courses was this slice of black stuff with a drizzle of bleu cheese dressing down the middle. turns out it was “corn smut” which is a fungus that attacks corn…they scrape it off, put it in this mold with other spices and then slice it. VOMIT.
I’m one of those people who will try most foods once (sometimes twice to be sure I really don’t like it) and have tried most of the things that have been listed so far. I think the strangest was a coconut grub from the jungle in Ecuador. Captured on video: http://www.youtube.com/user/coastie314#p/a/u/1/XLo8YUTm7R0
Oh man, Bowser does the exact same thing with a schnauzer plush I have. It’s hilarious. I’ve actually had the doll since I was a baby, and he KNOWS he’s not allowed to have it. But whenever I take it off my dresser to clean, he likes to be sneaky and run around with it. Too funny!
Um, I’ve eaten a lot of the things people are listing here as strange, but I’ve never thought anything about it? I like pretty much all food so I don’t count anything as “strange,” LOL.
Haha that picture of Murphy is so funny, he looks so worried that he’s in trouble. I am not adventurous at all when it comes to food, but once a long time ago my dad tricked me into eating ostrich by saying it was regular ground beef.
Our pugs have a few stuffed pug toys and they are among their favorite toys…strange huh? lol
Murphy always makes me laugh. Look at that wrinkly little face.
And I couldn’t agree more with the peanut butter. I’m a Teddy fan, through and through. Nothing else quite compares.
