Pizza + Scuffins
Oops. I definitely overdid it tonight. Too much good food!!! Now my belly kind of hurts. Wahhh.
But, tomorrow is a new day. Less pizza, fewer scuffins!
Dinner
Mal and I met Blain, my webmaster, at the Hancock Tavern for dinner this evening. Mal borrowed some computer software from Blain the other day, so we made plans to hang out and so Mal could return it.

When we arrived at the Hancock Tavern, we sat outside on the back patio.

We were chatting and enjoying ourselves when this weird, drunk guy invited himself to sit down at our table. It was sooo awkward! Our waitress saw the whole thing happen, so she politely offered to move us inside away from the crazy dude. She totally saved the day!
Once (safely) inside, we placed our dinner order with our waitress. I had a garden salad with honey mustard on the side. (Somehow my salad only cost $1.95! What a deal!
)

I also shared a Buffalo Chicken Pizza with Mal. Well, he ate most of it. I had 2 slices.

Mmm… my favorite kind of meal!

Dessert
When I got home from dinner, I headed straight to the kitchen. I had scuffins on my mind– specifically, Healthy Carrot Cake Power Scuffins! I saw them on Angela’s blog this morning and couldn’t get them out of my mind all day.
I followed the recipe almost exactly, but I didn’t have raisins in the house, so I substituted chopped dates. I think the dates were a nice addition!
These Healthy Carrot Cake Power Scuffins are absolutely outstanding. I was planning to enjoy them for breakfast tomorrow morning, but I ended up eating two tonight. I could not wait until morning. The smell alone made me want to eat one ASAP!

If you’re thinking about making these scuffins, do it!! You will not be disappointed!
I’m catching up with my DVR and then hitting the hay. G’night!

Ah with the scuffins. They look delicious, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again scones need butter. These should just be cuffins.
Emily — July 28, 2010 @ 9:50 pm
that’s so funny! my scuffins are in the oven right now! I saw them this morning and have been just dying to get home to make them!

Kelly — July 28, 2010 @ 10:00 pm
Yum, Buffalo Chicken pizza is amazing. I definitely would have been fighting Mal for more slices.
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman — July 28, 2010 @ 10:01 pm
I saw the scuffins this morning too, and thought they sounded good. I hate raisins, so I’ll probably try your date substitution!
Ashley — July 28, 2010 @ 10:02 pm
That salad looks huge for $1.95…What a steal!

Julie — July 28, 2010 @ 10:18 pm
It’s not a night out in Quincy until a random drunk guy befriends you. Ever see the old man with the blue knit cap partying at the Half Door? Classic.
katie — July 28, 2010 @ 10:18 pm
Scuffins- what a cute name!
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write — July 28, 2010 @ 10:18 pm
I love the word scuffins. Pizza and Scuffins sounds like the name of a new blog lol.
Carly (Swim, Run, Om) — July 28, 2010 @ 10:22 pm
@Jasmine @ Eat Move Write: Yes! I never heard of “scuffins” before. Now I have to say it in a normal conversation.
Katie — July 28, 2010 @ 10:22 pm
That pizza looks great! I never thought of getting buffalo chicken pizza until I started seeing it all the time on your blog! Great idea, and I want to try those scuffins too

holly @ couchpotatoathlete — July 28, 2010 @ 10:40 pm
Oh man those scuffins! I saw them on Angela’s blog and now yours…whats next? They’ll be on mine? Yes, maybe they will be!
Is the guy in the pic the drunk guy or your friend?
meemsnyc — July 28, 2010 @ 10:42 pm
Wow, a salad for $1.95, can that be possible. LOL. Yummy on pizza and scuffins.
Blain Smith — July 28, 2010 @ 10:42 pm
I feel like I must defend my own honor by saying that the bald guy is me, the webmaster, not the drunk guy. It is pretty hilarious though!
I think Tina would have to be drunk herself before she would decide to pose so nicely with a random drunk dude.
Ok back to work for me on her new CNC 2.0 blog design!
Lynn (The Actors Diet) — July 28, 2010 @ 10:52 pm
the random drunk dude probably wanted to get on CNC!
Chelsey — July 28, 2010 @ 10:54 pm
I totally want to make those scuffins!!! I eyed them this morning!
Angela (ohsheglows) — July 28, 2010 @ 11:02 pm

I thought you took a pic with the drunk guy too and I laughed before realizing you didn’t.

Omigosh! I’m so sorry about the drunk guy! At least your waitress was awesome about it.
Hannah — July 28, 2010 @ 11:41 pm
I”m going to make these tonight!
I recently made a banana bread where I used dates instead of dried figs… dates are the bestest, in my opinion
The Wife of a Dairyman — July 28, 2010 @ 11:48 pm
I LOVE scuffins but I believe the ones I’ve eaten at my local cafe, Dr. Insomnia’s, are not so healthy
Amber K — July 29, 2010 @ 12:29 am
I thought of Angela’s blog as soon as I saw the title of this one. They look yummy so I’m not surprised!
Wendy (Give Love Create Happiness) — July 29, 2010 @ 12:35 am
That is too funny you had to be escorted inside
Jackie (Peaces of Earth) — July 29, 2010 @ 12:49 am
Too funny about the drunk guy! Why are they so awkward? I saw those scuffins this morning and definitely need to make them asap.
Alexa@Running the Road to Recovery — July 29, 2010 @ 1:02 am
I’ve always meant to get more tough and direct with creepers – I think I’m kind of a pushover when I’m interacting with strangers! Thank goodness your waitress noticed what happened and got you out of that situation quickly.
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] — July 29, 2010 @ 1:16 am
I simply don’t know how you have the energy to bake at the end of the day. I take the easy way out and grab the bag of chocolate chips
Mimi — July 29, 2010 @ 2:00 am
I immediately thought of you when I saw there on Angela’s site! They are on my “must-make-ASAP” list for when I get home.
Wei-Wei — July 29, 2010 @ 2:10 am
Mmm, I saw those scuffins on OSG too! But baking at night is quite impossible for me, I don’t know how you do it! That drunk guy sounds creepy, but I think the waitress must have been quite attentive to have noticed.

Ugh, I hate when ostentatious drunk people intrude on your own good time. That waitress was pretty stellar to move you all into sheltered safety!
Those scuffins are so yummy looking!

Pizza + salad is one of my favorite meal combos. Something satisfying in the pizza and then know you are still being balanced with a quality salad.

I’m glad you escaped the drunk guy. I saw those scuffins this morning also and they look so good.

Angela’s scuffins definitely sound fantastic!
Faith @ LovelyAsCharged — July 29, 2010 @ 7:58 am
@Evan Thomas: I totally thought the exact same thing! Although I’d probably have actually taken a shot with the crazy dude, drunk people amuse me to no end…as long as they’re not riled up!

I saw that recipe from Ang, too! She has got some real talent concocting recipes like that! Between these carrot cake scuffins and the banana soft serve parfaits, she’s got me drooling over her foods allll the time!

Pizza and salad is my favorite meal! Cute picture of murphy + scuffin
Kendel @ Eating Abroad — July 29, 2010 @ 9:18 am
Is the photo of you you and your webmaster…. or you and the drunk guy? Or are they one in the same? Hmm… so mysterious! (I’m going with Blain, he doesn’t look drunk or weird enough to be your unwelcome visitor.)
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin — July 29, 2010 @ 9:36 am
Haha that’s so funny about that drunk guy! Being in university, I tend to have a LOT of those encounters.
I saw those scuffins on Angela’s blog and I can’t wait to make them!
