Morning Person
I’m a morning person. As soon as I wake up, I think “carpe diem.” Seriously, this is the first thought that runs through my head 95% of mornings. If you’re not a morning person and you’d rather go back to bed like Murphy, you probably think I’m crazy. (Maybe I am?) But the thought of seizing the day (and, of course, breakfast) gets me right out of bed nearly every morning.

Breakfast
I enjoyed an amazing breakfast this morning thanks to Angela’s Healthy Carrot Cake Power Scuffins. Mmm! I’m now convinced it’s impossible to eat just one since I ended up eating two again. Damn, they are good! I also had an iced coffee with soy milk. Perfect breakfast.

Coffee + Grinder Promo
Don’t forget about my Pumpkin Spice + grinder promo! It only runs until the end of the month, so act fast!
Question of the Day
Are you a morning person? What’s the first thought that runs through your head when you wake up?

I’m a morning person too. When I wake up, I jump out of bed to try to do as much as possible. Especially on weekends!

I think of myself as a morning person. However, I don’t like to talk to anyone in the mornings!! I’m up and at em’, I’d just rather be at ‘em in silence!

I am! I usually think “which yoga session will I do this morning?”

I am a morning person. I can’t sleep past 7am. I wanna get up, get the day started, and especially eat breakfast my favorite meal of the day.

I am a morning person though now that I work from home, I do tend to get up around 7 instead of 5. I am just way more productive in the mornings. I usually think about blogging and coffee first
Though I do meditate before I do either!

Murphy and I will seize the day from bed.
Today was really weird. I woke up and the first thing that started playing in my head was Phil Collin’s In The Air even though there was no music player playing it.
Jill — July 29, 2010 @ 8:25 am
I am a morning person too, and most of the time it works for me, but occasionally on a Saturday I’d like to sleep in instead of my eyes popping open at 6. But, it is nice to get an early jump on the day and get things accomplished.
My first thought even before I open my eyes is always, “What day is this?” and then I run through my day’s agenda in my head. I like being organized.
Heather @ Side of Sneakers — July 29, 2010 @ 8:25 am
I don’t jump up and start singing or dancing or anything, but I’m definitely a morning person too.
I love getting up in the morning a lot more than trying to stay up late at night.

I’m a morning person, but how come it always seems so much easier to pop out of bed enthusiastically on a weekend rather than on a workday? Ever have that problem?
Carisa — July 29, 2010 @ 8:26 am
I’m very much a morning person. I grab a snack and then exercise first thing so that I can be ready before my girls are awake for the day! On days I don’t exercise, I’m still up early….my productivity wanes as the day goes on so the more I get done earlier, the better!

I am definitely a morning person. I feel so antsy if I’m laying in bed in the morning. I just want to get up and go plus I like working out in the mornings. My husband loves lazy mornings laying in bed though so I try to compromise every once in a while and have a relaxing morning.
Heather — July 29, 2010 @ 8:29 am
it depends. I hate my alarm clock and hate getting up early, but once I am up for 2 minutes I am fine and ready to go, its just that initial getting out of the bed I don’t do well!
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman — July 29, 2010 @ 8:30 am
I’m with Murphy–more bed, please. I desperately want to be a morning person but when my alarm goes off at 5:30 it’s like: I’ll carpe that diem another time. Snooze.

I’m so NOT a morning person…especially not during the week. It takes me until about 9:30 to be fully functional. My first thought when I wake up in the morning is “How many hours until I can go back to sleep?”
Sara — July 29, 2010 @ 8:39 am
I wish I was a morning person, but I’m not. My first thought of the day is usually, “Why?” while I hit the snooze button.

I’m a morning person too. I like to get going right away and not waste time in the morning. I cannot lounge around in bed after I wake up!
Tina — July 29, 2010 @ 8:44 am
I am most definitely a morning person. It is my most productive time. I wake myself up 1.5 – 2 hours before my daughter wakes up to knock out a bunch of things. Then right after breakfast we head to the gym for a workout. I have the most energy then.
ashleigh — July 29, 2010 @ 8:46 am
Ok, I seriously admire morning people! Have you always been one? I wish I could wake up and be happy— I wake up and I am such a grouch! My first thought is 10 more minutes please!

I am definitely a morning person. I HATE sleeping in. I feel like I waste the day when I sleep past 8. I’m usually up at 5:30 or 6.
Iced coffee and twitter are probably the first things on my mind when I wake up. Haha. I’m obsessed.
And that Murphy pic is being added to my folder, btw. Haha I am a creepster.

It sort of depends on the morning for me. Usually my husband has a wonderful cup of coffee waiting for me, which gets me right out of bed!
Erin — July 29, 2010 @ 8:49 am
I was never a morning person until this past spring (I only recently graduated from college and I doubt there is any college student who is a true “morning person”- correct me if I’m wrong). But now I live for the mornings- there the only time of day I have to myself and I’ve learned to truely enjoy them. I get up most days at 5 or 5:30am to get to the gym/run, have breakfast, and shower before I have to be at work at 8. I love the idea that I am awake for every single hour of summer daylight and that I’m seeing sunrises for the first time in my life.
AllieNic (Frisky Lemon) — July 29, 2010 @ 9:00 am
I’m usually a morning person. I like to get up waaaaay before I have to get ready for work and have some coffee and read my book in bed. It’s a great start to the day– I feel like I’ve done something with my morning other than wake up and go through the motions.
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete — July 29, 2010 @ 9:04 am
Murphy is so cute!
Most days I am like you, ready to get out of bed and on with my day. This morning? I was like Murphy — read to crawl back into bed. The thoughts of a good breakfast (and the promise of a nap later) is almost always a good enough reason to get out of bed right away.
taylor — July 29, 2010 @ 9:04 am
im kind of a morning person.it can vary, sometimes i bound outta bed and get the day started, other days…..im guilty of smacking that snooze button for another few mins. of sleep.what’s the first thing that runs through my head?????uuuuummmmmmm……goodness just about anything.breakfast, football season being a day closer,my sister huge bday present reveal being a day closer, eli manning…

I’m a morning person too. Don’t need an alarm, though I set one just in case
9 times out of 10 I jump right out of bed and start my day. I really don’t need time to wake up or anything just get going. Morning is such a great time. I always am to the office by 7 or 7:15 because that hour before everyone starts coming in is awesome…get so much done without interuptions!
Megan — July 29, 2010 @ 9:10 am
I’m one of those dreadful morning people too
I roll out of bed pretty awake and ready to hit the road. My mom is worried I’ll be single forever because I actually sleep in my running clothes! That way, the only thing to do is put on a sweat band and socks/shoes and get going.
I actually heard an interesting statistic on the radio…Over 30% of women, age 18-34, have one thing in common they do FIRST THING when they wake up. Keep in mind this is before bathroom or brushing teeth! They check Facebook. WEIRD!
Kerri@Kerri B Turns Into a Zombie — July 29, 2010 @ 9:12 am
Yeah, I am a morning person. I used to try and fight it, but now I just let myself get up and think time to shine on and get some coffee and get outside.
Marilou @ Mostly Healthy — July 29, 2010 @ 9:12 am
I’m definitely a morning person … at a certain hour. I’m more productive in morning, and don’t have a problem getting out of bed, as long as I had a good night of sleep.
When I’m sleep deprived, it’s a little bit longer for me to get in gear … but I eventually get there!
Marian @ The Clock-Racing Gourmet — July 29, 2010 @ 9:12 am
I’m a morning person, but I also like to nap on my lunch hour or in the afternoon when I can.
Lindsay — July 29, 2010 @ 9:13 am
I wake up every morning with the mentality that I am going to make healthy food decisions! It’s not always easy and I don’t always succeed 100%, but I usually always eat a very healthy breakfast, a pretty healthy lunch, and than sometimes dinner gets a little iffy when it comes to being healthy.. hehe. 2/3 is not bad… haha!

I am definitely a morning person, hence the name of my blog! My husband and I get up 4 days a week just before 5 to go to the gym or go running and on the weekend we’re up by 7:30 usually – 8am is sleeping in and hard to do! I am best though when I start my day with a workout, it gives me a lot of energy to get through my day! I don’t like the thought of sleeping in till noon – the day is almost gone by then and I’d much rather enjoy it and get all that I can out of it!
Hannah — July 29, 2010 @ 9:26 am
I used to be, then I went for a year student exchange to the US where it seems eery college student is late-to-bed-late-to-rise, so I gradually became the same because I simply couldn’t sleep when all my suitemates were up and being noisy!
I’ve just started my PhD and being a TA, though, so I have to get up earlier. Plus I get up early to go to the farmers’ market, so hopefully I’ll soon be Carpe Diem like you!

I’m perfectyl fine with going to bed early and waking up before dawn to get in a good workout, do house work, computer work..whatever it is. It’s an awesome feeling when you realize you’ve done so much before most people are even awake.
Maria @ Oh Healthy Day — July 29, 2010 @ 10:49 am
It all depends on how much sleep I got the night before. If I had enough, I’m up and at it! If not, then I snooze about 3-4 times. Generally though, I like to be up and just take the time to relax and eat breakfast in peace. I don’t like rushing out the door, because its sets the wrong tone for my day.

The weird thing though is that I am a morning workout person. Me + waking up early + a workout = great mood!!
But subtract that workout and you get “cranky Andrea” all the way until about 11:00am!

The first thought is usually – I wish I had the luxury of waking up naturally when I am ready

I am definitely a morning person! I LOVE my mornings. They’re so quiet and peaceful. I don’t really know what I think directly upon awaking, but one of the first things I do is look out the window to see if it’s going to be a nice day. If I see a rising sun and blue sky, I get this warm glowing feeling inside. I love the start of a beautiful new day…and, of course, breakfast on the porch.

I am a morning person. I jump out of bed and right away my mind starts listing the things that I need to do during the day.

Morning person all the way – I just think how good I will feel after I run/workout and get things done before I have to head off to work!

LOL, I’m so NOT a morning person. I wish I was, but I just can’t break my nightowl habits.
Eveyr morning the first thing I think is “Today I’m expecting good things.” It sort of sets my mood for the day and gets me into a positive thinking mindset!

Haha, I agree with Julie (#77). That’s also my first thought
I’m not a morning person, but I get up at 5:30 AM weekday mornings for work

I’m definitely not a morning person. I can (and do) wake up fairly early, but I’m never bounding out of bed. It takes me a good 2+ hours to fully wake up!
Lynn (The Actors Diet) — July 29, 2010 @ 6:01 pm
i’m always pretty chipper, no matter what time of day. i’m up around 7am and go to bed at 11pm, which wouldn’t make me neither an extreme morning OR night person. i don’t know what i think when i wake up – probably what did i dream about?

The mornings are my favourite time of day. I love how serene they are!
My first thought is usually “Mmm I want breakfast!”

Depends on the day. However, Monday through Friday I frequently am bummed out about having to go to work!

I am not a morning person AT ALL. I stumble grumble mumble my way through the house.
Work days: first thing is “10 more minutes – reset alarm NOT snooze bc I’m just weird like that – repeat.” Nonwork days: first thing is Yawn – strech – resettle cats – fall back asleep. If I can I try to sleep in until at least 9am.
I’m a lucky one who can wake up, actually get up, help my hubby get ready/say goodbye then go back to bed/fall back asleep.

I am a morning person, and I always have been. I like to get up and get my day started. I have more energy in the mornings than in the evenings. I like to go to the grocery store early on Saturday mornings when there’s no one there and the store is all nice and put together and clean.

I am for sure not a morning person, but I tend to wake up anyways and try to do something to really tingle the senses (i.e. yoga, running, eating… ahahha). Usually getting motivated isn’t too hard. Maybe I am a morning person 75% of the time… Who knows? We’ll find out this fall when I have to inevitably seize the day and greet an 8am class!
