Another day, another photo of oatmeal.
I have to admit, however, this bowl of overnight oats was quite delicious. I used Almond Breeze instead of my usual soy milk, which gave it a nice, light, almond-y flavor. Plus, changing it up made my morning oats a little more exciting!

In the mix:
- 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup French Chocolate Mad Hectic oatmeal
- 3/4 cup Almond Breeze
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
- Dried cranberries
- 1 big scoop of Barney Butter

Ok, so oatmeal photos get a little boring, but I know you’re not sick of pug photos!

Organic and Biodynamic Wines
For the locals…
There’s a great event coming up at Gordon’s Wine at the end of the month: Organic and Biodynamic Wines. Let me know if you’re interested in going, and perhaps we can make it a blogger meet-up! (FYI: The previous blogger meet-up event at Gordon’s was postponed to the fall.)
Question of the Day
Carrots ‘N’ Cake is getting a facelift in the next few weeks, so I’m hoping to get some feedback from my readers before its debut. Feel free to add your 2 cents!
What do you like about the current CNC? What would you like to see changed? What would make CNC a better blog?

i will never get sick of pug photos!! it’s funny because i am a doxie lover at heart, but i think i am becoming a pug lover all because of C&C…when i move to a place where i can have dogs i might need to get one of each:)
I haven’t been here that long, but I love the picture of the little carrot cake cupcakes at the top. I think if you change it you should keep something like that.
Loved seeing a Murphy update today!!
Hmm I love modern designs for blogs.
I think though that for a food blog the colors would have to be appropriate. Just my 2 cents
I looove almond milk in my oats. Makes them creamier but still light.
honestly, tina, i love your blog just as it is and wouldn’t want to see a thing changed. but i guess if there was one thing to add, maybe a forum for your readers? maybe even organized via location – i know you have a lot of longtime fans (like myself) who have started blogs inspired by you so they could do meetups…
Don’t worry, I’ll never get bored of looking at your oatmeal photos because I love the stuff! Can’t think of any major changes to suggest for your blog but like others have said, more than one post per page would be good.
well i’ll be one to say the oatmeal and pug pictures never get old
i think the blog is great, obviously i can’t miss a day without reading! any suggestions i guess would be maybe more of the quick/easy recipe for 1 or 2 ppl , love those… more on your fashionista side?! love how you are more practical and looking for a deal for those of us who are tight with our money! more discussion on the psychology, stigmas, fitness incorporated with eating, health, and well being etc . . . i don’t know
Have a great day!
I love carrots n cake, and it’s a blog I read almost every day (sometimes twice a day). The one thing I have trouble with is finding your old recipes. I love so many of the things you make but like your 3 minute oatmeal raisin cookie, is really hard to find. PS I never get tired of pug pictures!
It would be nice to have the option of a mobile website to look at on phones. I can view your website well with my IPhone, but some other blogs have a mobile option that pops up that I like.
Good luck with the changes! Can’t wait to see them!
There is no such thing as too much pug. Just to add one more say: I don’t get the white space in any browser. I use Firefox, but I just tested it in IE and didn’t have a problem there either. It’s OK on my work PC as well as my Mac at home. So it must be an individual computer thing.
Just chiming in on the white space, when I click over from google reader, I have to end up clicking the home page link in order to see the post which is frustrating. I would probably comment more if I didn’t have to do that.
I would not change anything! Please Please do not take the recepie section away!! I love love love it!!
This is so minor, BUT, as a reader, I really appreciate it when you can easier click to the previous post or the next post. Either have a back/forward button at the top of the post, or at the bottom. Seriously, it is like the most important thing to me
@LC @ Let Them Eat Lentils: There’s an “Older Entries” and “Newer Entries” link at the bottom of all of my posts.
I really like the current design and color scheme of CNC, but as others said, it would be nice to have more than one post on the front page.
I agree with some of the comments about there being a lot of product promotion lately. On the positive, I wouldn’t mind more recipes in the recipe page!
Your site is already amazing but being able to quickly see other posts by scrolling down.
It looks like other people feel the same way… more than one post per page would help. Especially in the archives! I was bored one day and trying to read back to when the blog was newer, and it was frustrating to click on the Month in the Archives but come up with the last post of the month and I had to keep clicking back to get to the first one…
I would love to go to a blogger meetup at the wine event.
I have the same problem as Angela! It doesn’t happen all the time, but every once in awhile…again, this has only happened since you said you have been having issues.
I would love to go to the wine event!
I have to agree wtih the above mentioned suggestions – I hate the excess white space. I also hate having just one post per home page visit….I’m not one to click links forward or back, drives me nuts…..I also am not a big fan of all the product mentions lately…THis isn’t you personally, but since alot of the food bloggers that I read are all included in these giveaways and getaways, I get bored reading the same thing and seeing hte same photos…..I also like the idea of archives having a calendar that I can pick the date to view vs having to start fromt he end of the month and find my way back….search function isn’t very helpful either, but all in all still love my visits…..:) Keep the colors easy on the eyes,,,,and keep it simple…I do love that
Oh, and definitely k eep the pug
I love reading your blog, and while I think it’s great, I’m excited to see that it could actually be GREATER!!
Also, though I know nothing about biodynamic wines, I would be interested in going to the tasting!!
I heart Carrots’N'Cake!!! Since your blog got hacked, when you tag old posts [like your wedding and honeymoon] the pics on those old posts don’t show up. Also, it would be nice to see more than 1 post on the homepage. And for some reason I have to scroll down really far to find your post. Can’t wait to see what you’re gonna do to your blog!!!
Like pretty much everyone else, I love your blog and read it everyday. I do miss your blogroll though. It seemed to disappear and it was a nice quick way to access other great blogs too. Will that be making a return?
these are just a few repeats, but ill put in my vote. I’d love seeing more than one post on the front page, as well as the return of the blog roll – and earlier someone mentioned a dedicated “murphy” page… hes so darn cute! seriously, if im bummed and see a cute pic of that pup it totally brightens my day =)
I would LOVE to come to the organic wine event at Gordon’s, it would be great to make it a blogger event! I’ve taken classes on organic and biodynamic wines before, and it’s really interesting stuff! And as for CNC, it’s pretty fab right now
CNC would be a better blog if there were more interntional giveaways
Yep, I’m selfish
In all honesty, I love your blog the way it is!
I don’t mind the single post to a page, but when I have to catch up after a few days, it’d be nice to have the “Oldest”/”Newest” buttons at the top so I don’t have to scroll to the bottom of every post. Otherwise, everything is great!
I would like more than one post per page. If you think it makes the page too long, you can truncate the posts so we have to click “read more” to see the longer post.
I love the blog Tina!
P.S.: to everyone who spoke about the blogroll: I missed it too; but you can get to by typing ‘blogroll’ after the last slash in the url address
Hi Tina! Love the blog! Also, wanted to mention I’ve signed up for that wine tasting. Looks fantastic (happens to be good content for my own blog, fun!)!
Hi Tina! Big fan, and honestly, I don’t think you have to change anything! I like the simplicity of the blog (white background, only 2 primary colors, like-sized photos…)
Keep up the good work!
That’s how I make all my overnight oats. Love ‘em with almond milk!
