More Oatmeal Photos

Another day, another photo of oatmeal.

I have to admit, however, this bowl of overnight oats was quite delicious. I used Almond Breeze instead of my usual soy milk, which gave it a nice, light, almond-y flavor. Plus, changing it up made my morning oats a little more exciting! ;-)

IMG_0003.JPG

In the mix:

  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup French Chocolate Mad Hectic oatmeal
  • 3/4 cup Almond Breeze
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • Dried cranberries
  • 1 big scoop of Barney Butter

IMG_0004.JPG

Ok, so oatmeal photos get a little boring, but I know you’re not sick of pug photos! ;-)

Organic and Biodynamic Wines

For the locals…

There’s a great event coming up at Gordon’s Wine at the end of the month: Organic and Biodynamic Wines. Let me know if you’re interested in going, and perhaps we can make it a blogger meet-up! (FYI: The previous blogger meet-up event at Gordon’s was postponed to the fall.)

Question of the Day

Carrots ‘N’ Cake is getting a facelift in the next few weeks, so I’m hoping to get some feedback from my readers before its debut. Feel free to add your 2 cents!

What do you like about the current CNC? What would you like to see changed? What would make CNC a better blog?

I never get tired of oatmeal pictures, I could look at them all day :) It is the best food after all!
I think CNC is super – the only thing I would change would be when posts are tooo long, cos then I forget half of what I just read when it comes to commenting! Hardly a big issue though :)

I’m not sure if this is just me and my weird computer, but for some reason I have a huge blank white space at the top of each post so I have to scroll down quite a bit to see your new post. This only happened since your blog troubles though…Id be curious to know if it is just an issue with my computer or if others experience it too.
I think your blog is awesome…I have always loved the layout of each post and how they are clearly defined by breakfasr, snack, lunch etc. =)

Sometimes I have a hard time viewing cnc on my blackberry. Either pictures don’t load properly or the site doesn’t come up at all. Don’t know if there is anything that can be done about that!

I would prefer if there was more than one post on the homepage. I don’t read every day, but I read every post, and I hate having to click on the “oldest” button after each post. But other than that, it looks pretty good to me already.

I know that this isn’t quite the feedback that you’re looking for, but I think that your blog is great already! I have a hard time imagining what would make it better. One thing (which is very small) is that it’d be nice to see multiple posts on one page, without having to click the “Older entries” link. Thanks for all your hard work!

I think most things are great, too, but I would agree with another reader that more than one post per page would be even better. I like reading everyday, but don’t always get a chance and I’m not inclined to click on the previous page to see what other tasty recipes you’ve come up with. Although perhaps you’d prefer that we don’t know all of the details of your day ALL the time. ;)

Ok, maybe this is a bit ambitious, but I would love to see a CNC reader forum! Sort of like what Dooce did.
Also, count me in for the Gordon’s wine night! I looooove me some wine, and maybe I could learn a thing or two about organic/biodynamic processing :D

I’m agreeing with Angela above – when I click on your post in googlereader, it won’t open, and then I have to hit the ‘home’ button, which gives me a giant white space at the top. I thought it was just my computer but I guess not!

Love CnC! Only suggestion deals with being able to read old posts. I noticed on some blogs you can click on an archived month and all the days of the month pop up in calendar form. Then you can click on an individual day (rather than having to start at the end of May and clicking backwards to read each entry). Just a thought. Keep up the great work!

I think archiving is the only thing that frustrates me on a lot of the bigger blogs…I sometimes go back to holiday/event entries for ideas, and it’s annoying when the archives start at the end of the month and you have to click back! And I agree with several of the other commenters that would like to see more posts on the home page. Makes it easier to catch up! I do love the color scheme though :)

Have you considered an option for mobile users as part of the facelift? Sometimes I use my phone to read and it takes forever for the large pictures to load (for example trying to find the post on organic foods and what the terms mean when I was in the grocery store) so it was hard to find the content again because my screen is so small. Or maybe an option where you can still see the pictures they are just smaller files and tinier.

Also I really enjoy reading your blog everyday but I have to say I would enjoy more pug pictures, he’s just so cute!

  19. RhodeyGirl — July 12, 2010 @ 9:56 am

I think your old posts get lost. Sometimes I want to go back and see one your memorable posts (special days, fun events, excellent recipes) but they are difficult to find. What about having a small section on either sidebar with your favorite 10 posts of the moment or something like that? The small featured posts on the left sidebar just isn’t doing it for me :)

For the same reason I really enjoy when you link back to older posts.

Last, I think having one post per page is limiting. It is fun to scroll down and see 2-4 posts per page. I know you changed that just recently due to your blog issues, but I would love to see that come back. It is sorely missed.

you have ELEVEN tabs at the top of the site. when I was a new CNC reader I was overwhelmed! Do you really need 11? OK maybe you do! haha. Maybe it was those combined with all the other “stuff” happening on the sides of the page. This is just me personally (I think my blog is fairly plain) but I love a cleaner, simpler look as opposed to adds and information OVERLOAD. (agani mere suggestions cause you asked.) It’s hard to find archived topics and stuff using your search bar. Also there are lots of stuff on the sides that is distracting. And I know you have updated what you do for exercises but you haven’t really updated your exercise pages so that would be great for those of us looking for variety and especially dealing with injury.

    I love the blog Tina!

P.S.: to everyone who spoke about the blogroll: I missed it too; but you can get to by typing ‘blogroll’ after the last slash in the url address :D

Hi Tina! Love the blog! Also, wanted to mention I’ve signed up for that wine tasting. Looks fantastic (happens to be good content for my own blog, fun!)!

Hi Tina! Big fan, and honestly, I don’t think you have to change anything! I like the simplicity of the blog (white background, only 2 primary colors, like-sized photos…)

    Keep up the good work!

That’s how I make all my overnight oats. Love ‘em with almond milk!
