I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get enough “me time” in my life, I feel like this:

Basically, I’m sluggish and cranky. I love my life (and all of its craziness), but every once in awhile, I need my own time to recharge and relax. Otherwise, I am no fun to be around.
Breakfast
After sleeping in until almost 9:00 (!!) this morning, Mal made us breakfast: egg, bacon, and cheese sandwiches on toasted Sandwich Thins. I don’t usually have meat on my egg sandwiches, but I am so glad that I did this morning. The bacon totally made my sandwich. It was organic and, oh, so good!
With breakfast, I also drank a glass of iced coffee with vanilla soy milk, which I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear!

After breakfast, I went to the gym for a quick workout. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical, while catching up with my celebrity gossip, and then came right home. It wasn’t the toughest workout I’ve ever had, but I’m still glad that I got in some activity for the day.
When I got home, I took a quick shower and then baked a batch of Oatmeal Raisin Bars (minus the raisins) to take to a friend’s birthday barbeque this afternoon. I didn’t have any raisins in the house, so I substituted dried cranberries and blueberries in the recipe. They seemed to do the trick!

Snack
Before heading to the party, I snacked on a peach.

Lunch/Dinner
At my friend’s birthday barbeque, I filled up on veggies and dip. The veggies were fresh from Sunshine Farm and the dressing was Annie’s Green Goddess Dressing. The combination was amazing, and I kept eating and eating and eating. Who knew cauliflower + Goodness Dressing tasted so delicious!?!

I pretty much ate half of the cauliflower on the plater myself!

I also enjoyed some homemade bruschetta with French bread.

And drank a beer and ate a piece of watermelon.

When it came time for the “main course,” I filled my plate with a small cheeseburger with a slice of tomato and horseradish mustard, pasta salad, and grilled zucchini and summer squash.

I also ate two cupcake tops, but apparently, I never snapped a photo. They were chocolate with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Mmm! Cupcakes rule!
After the party, Mal and I headed home to “save” our dog since he spent most of the afternoon in our bedroom just hanging out. We knew Murphy would want to stretch his little pug legs, so we took him to the park.

Happy dog!!

We met Bella and Grady (and Dave) at the park for some “puppy playtime.”

Murphy ran around like crazy.

Mid-pug collision.

He played with Dad.

And Mom.

He also played fetch.

And ran around some more.

Murphy is now passed out on his bed snoring loudly. He’s totally pooped. I guess the trip to the park was a success!
I’m spending the night home alone sitting on the couch catching up with my DVR and eating the last of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Blondies. It’s really nice to have some “me time,” especially when it includes reality TV and a blondie!

I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty psyched to be relaxing at home tonight. I need it!
Good night, friends!

Aww it looks like Murphy had so much fun! So cute!
I know just what you mean; I need plenty of me time, too.
Don’t you know bacon makes pretty much anything better? What? You say that’s why I struggle with my weight?
I’m discovering the importance of “me time.” Mine usually involves my computer and a Frappuccino Light at the Bux.
What a fun day
Yes, I love some “me” time! I work full time and a wife and mom, so I can’t say it happens enough. I definitely cherish it when the opportunity comes. Although I do love family time, too
This post reminded me – I need to make BOTH oatmeal raisin bars and peanut butter chocolate blondies soon!!!
So great that you gave yourself some “me” time. We all need it, dont ever feel bad. You update three times a day most of the time, that is intense!

May I ask what shows? I am partial to Real Housewives of New Jersey
You do deserve some “me” time……ENJOY!!!!
Murphy is such a character. I need my “me” time. I’m getting such much needed me time in this weekend.
Cutest dog ever! I am a big fan of “me” time; it’s hard w/ a 4 year old, but it’s so important! And that blondie looks delicious!

we are in the process of moving but once we get settled in our new place i am trying those pb blondies!
me time is what i miss most about my pre-baby life but i can usually sneak a little in here and there if i plan ahead. i agree-it’s totally a needed thing.
I always need ‘me’ time too. We are also relaxing at home. It is so important to me.
I love having “me” time. I have some friends who just can’t stand being home by themself….but I just love it!
My husband goes away for a weekend every fall and I love that time! There is something really relaxing about being totally alone.
HAHAHA!!! That first picture of your pug is HILARIOUS!! He’s so cute!
Those oatmeal raisin bars (sans raisins in exchange for other yummy dried fruit) look so yummy and I love the tin! I’m a little obsessed with the goddess dressing too! I have a friend coming over tomorrow and may have to go get some cauliflower!
That party food looks amazing! Yummy
Tina I always show Murphy pics to my boyfriend whenever I read your blog because he loves silly dogs. When I showed him the pic of Mal holding Murphy, he goes “It’s a Murphy popsicle!” (get it?)
Everyone needs me time once in a while. I approve!
ME time is such a necessity – glad you were able to get some in! Looks like a fun day!
We all need a day of relaxation here and there — it keeps me sane! Those bars look delicious and I bet they tasted good with the cranberries and blueberries. Enjoy your night!
i understand the need to “catch up” – i feel like i’ve been go go go for weeks now and whenever i can just have the night to myself (like i am getting tonight) i’m very grateful. enjoy and recharge!
Love this! I’ve been booked for so many weekends in a row and my boyfriend is out of town this weekend – I’ve been exercising, getting some sun, cooking healthy meals, and catching up on my DVR and sleep – the recharge is so important!! Have a great night
Me time feels SO good when you need it! I’m happy for you that tonight you are doing that. Have a great night Tina!!
I’m totally with you on the ‘me’ time. We just got home from a week of cabin camping and I’m SO happy to be home….feels so good. Enjoy your time:)
I always need me time, too. I go crazy if I’m always with other people, much as I love my family and friends! And raw cauliflower is one of my favourite veggies…. if only I knew what Green Goddess dressing way!
I’m glad you’re taking some me time – you’re so busy all the time! I got some me time yesterday as well, and needless to say I’m feeling quite refreshed.
Wei-Wei
What is that contraption on poor Murphy’s little legs?
Is that a harness around the dog? It looks like his collar just got yanked down around his chest!
Yes everyone needs me time, so hope you had a good night, you deserve it!
And yes cupcakes rule ; )

Me time is so important! If I go too long without it I get a bit monstrous! Sweets + trash tv are a good way to come around though
I did the same thing yesterday. I sent my husband to hang out with his family, then volunteered, got a massage, and ordered Indian takeout while watching a horrible movie on Lifetime. It was bliss
Glad you got some me-time, Tina. I was just talking with a coworker the other day about how some people need me-time more than others. Apparently, those people don’t get “energy” from others, but from themselves…and really need the alone time to recharge. I’m definitely one of those people. Sounds kinda kooky, but also makes some sense, huh?
I totally feel the same way about me time! My husband is away for the weekend and I have really enjoyed being able to do things at my own pace – and do the things I want to do! I feel so much more relaxed.
I’m not gonna lie, I have to have me time at least 3x a week! Good for you! Those bars look amazing. I think I would prefer cranberries / blueberries to plain old raisins anyhow!
Dried cranberries make such a great raisin substitute!
I tend to put both in as many baked goods as I can..makes them feel..healthy?
I have to make those Oatmeal Rasin bars!
Yum!
OMG that peanut butter blondie looks AMAZING!
