I can almost always eat, but I didn’t have much of an appetite tonight. Well, I did, but not my normal appetite. I just wanted to eat cold, creamy foods, like yogurt and ice cream. Nothing else sounded appealing to me.
Does this happen to anyone else? Any idea why?
Snack
Mid-afternoon, Mal and I took Murphy for a 90-minute walk around our neighborhood. When we returned home, I snacked on a Stonyfield Super Smoothie, which was quite tasty.

Dinner
I wasn’t super hungry when dinner rolled around, but I felt like I “should” eat something. I ended up making a turkey sandwich with Roasted Garlic Mustard and pickle slices on a Sandwich Thin.

After dinner, Mal and I took a stroll to Starbucks for an impromptu coffee date. It was a beautiful evening, so we took advantage of the nice weather.

We both ordered iced soy lattes. He ordered a grande ; I ordered a tall.

I ordered my iced latte with decaf espresso. I can’t drink caffeine late in the day because it keeps me up all night long.

Dessert
After about an hour of sitting outside and chatting at Starbucks, we headed home. Mal wanted ice cream, so I joined him for a few several bites. Of course, I had an appetite for Cookies ‘n Cream ice cream!

Check out the cookies in this baby! Holy yum!

Mal and I are continuing our Jersey Shore marathon tonight. We’re trying to finish Season 1 before Season 2 starts on Thursday night!

That definitely happens to me sometimes, I will just have NO appetite for vegetables and all I want is bread/rice/tortilla chips or something, and then yogurt or ice cream. It’s weird.
I love random coffee dates. My husband and I will do that too. Sometimes it’s just nice to get out of the house and relax a few minutes.
That sounds perfect to me!! I can’t drink caffeine once afternoon rolls around either- why did I never think of just getting decaf?! hahaa.
Lately I’ve been wanting nothing but smoothies, icecream, yogurt, etc. either. Craziness. I think it has something to do with summer and just wanting something quick ‘n’ easy. And refreshing.
Love that you guys had a coffee date!!
I always switch to decaf after lunch. I don’t want anything ruining my precious sleep haha!
YUM that ice cream looks amazing! We don’t get Stonyfield ice cream here in Canada.
I crave iced lattes like no one’s bizness in the summer! The other day I made a tofutti cutie ice cream sandwich and drizzled PB2 on it. YUM! Big hit
I’m no expert, but you might be craving cold, creamy things because you are eating “too many” hot foods. It might sound weird, but it’s a Chinese medicine thing: too many yang or expanding, hot foods will make your body want to even it out with a more yin or contracting, cold food– your body is hot and needs something to cool it down.
That happens to me too, usually when it is extremely hot outside and I am pretty tired or lazy to eat anything else. And now I’m craving for Stonyfield cookies and cream ice cream!
Wait Stonyfield sells ice cream?! OMG!
that ice cream looks glorioussss! I want some right now. :}
What a wonderful day!
My girlfriend & I stayed in and watched the entire marathon. Ginormous bag of Kettle Corn in lap, pillows & blankets a plenty… not to mention the stack of take out menu’s we were armed with in the event of hunger – we weren’t going anywhere. (:
Dates at the coffee shop are amazing. I’m embarrassed that I watch Jersey Shore but I just can’t turn away. It’s insane.
Yes! I know why we crave milky, creamy, smooth sweet things. It comes from when we are young. In Ayurveda, an Indian (not native american) based belief of health when you crave dairy based foods it is because you are needing nurturing of some kind, going back to the “mother’s milk” days so to speak. Also, if you are craving sweet, it is because you are maybe a little grouchy or miffed…. ie not so “sweet” yourself. I think you would find this interesting as an ayurvedic lifestyle is ALL ABOUT BALANCE. It even discusses how what you eat and the rhythem of your life effects your physical well being (balance). Check it out.
