A Great End To A Great Weekend

July 18, 2010

I can’t believe my weekend in Vermont is all over. How sad. BUT, Mal and I already have a plan in the works to visit again this fall. Hopefully, I can make it until then! ;-)

Breakfast

After a late-night of partying, we ended up sleeping in a little bit. Once we got moving, Mal, Murphy, and I headed out to grab iced coffees for everyone while Dave and Marie started on breakfast.

Dave made us egg and cheese sandwiches on toasted English muffins.

I also shared a cherry turnover with Marie. Delish!

After breakfast, we went downtown to Church Street again. This time, we brought the dogs and let them explore. There’s always a ton of dogs on Church Street, so they had a great time meeting new friends on our walk.

Lunch

For lunch, we stopped by my favorite sandwich shop ever: The Red Onion Cafe. (There was no way I was visiting Burlington without eating a Red Onion sandwich!)

IMG_0009.JPG

The Red Onion Sandwich is made with roasted turkey breast, Vermont Smoked Maple Cheddar, red onion, sliced Granny Smith apple, bacon, and sun-dried tomato mayo. The Vermont Smoked Maple Cheddar is actually a new-ish addition to the Red Onion sandwich. It used to be made with smoked Gruyere cheese, which is how Mal and I make them at home.

Best sandwich ever!!!

I’m not sure what’s for dinner tonight, but I’m thinking something light and healthy. Perhaps a salad with some feta crumbles on top? My body wants to get back on track after the weekend I just had. Yowsahs!

Enjoy your Sunday night!

When you have a favorite place to heat it hurts to leave without grabbing a bite there. I am so glad to see you got your sandwich and had so much fun.

It’s so great you have a girly to share something with. It always feels better than eating a whole cherry turnover by yourself, haha.

So the onions are raw?! Sorry, I’m not a fan of raw onions. Take em out and that sandwich is very very appetising. I think it’s high time for me to start trying apple slices in my sandwiches!
