T-Shirts + Fondue

June 21, 2010

Don’t I look red carpet ready?! ;-)

IMG_0003.JPG

I’ve had quite the busy evening– I actually hit not one, but two fun events. The first was the International T-Shirt Day Party and the second was a tweet-up at the Melting Pot downtown.

I love random national (and international) holidays, so I was totally IN for International T-Shirt Day. The tradition of T-Shirt Day began in 2008 on the first day of summer and ever since, people have gathered to celebrate the many facets and versatility of the t-shirt. Cool, right? I love a good t-shirt myself! ;-)

IMG_0001.JPG

The party was held at Alibi– the same location as the Healthworks Blogger Bash a few weeks ago. As part of the T-Shirt Day celebration, participants designed their own free t-shirt online a couple of weeks ago and were invited to pick it up in person at the International T-Shirt Day Party. I love free stuff, so, of course, I was game!

After picking up my t-shirt, I stuck around for a little while to model my t-shirt on the “Open Runway” and do some mingling.

IMG_0005.JPG

Then, it was time to eat FONDUE!!!

IMG_0009.JPG

I died and went to fondue heaven!!  At the event, we enjoyed a variety of Melting Pot cheese and chocolate fondues, along with lots of goodies for dipping.

IMG_0010.JPG

I grabbed a fork and got right down to business. I wasn’t shy! ;-)

IMG_0025.JPG

The cheese fondues included Traditional Swiss, Cheddar, Spinach-Artichoke, Wisconsin Trio, and Fiesta Cheese. I loved them all, but my favorites were the Cheddar and the Wisconsin Trio, which both had a nice, bold flavor.

IMG_0015.JPG

IMG_0016.JPG IMG_0017.JPG

IMG_0018.JPG

The chocolate fondues were really something special. There were so many “holy yum” varieties– I had a tough time not trying them all a few different times! ;-)

IMG_0021.JPG

There was Cookies ‘N’ Cream, Bananas Foster, Pure Dark Chocolate, Flaming Turtle, and Original (peanut butter + chocolate). My absolute favorite combination of the evening was a mini Rice Crispy Treat dipped into the Original chocolate fondue. The fondue soaked into all of the tiny crevices… holy deliciousness!

IMG_0029.JPG

The Flaming Turtle was pretty cool!

IMG_0030.JPG

IMG_0039.JPG

I also sampled some Apple Ice Wine, which is made locally in Harvard, MA. It was sweet and refreshing– perfect for a hot summer day like today!

IMG_0044.JPG

I always forget to take photos of PEOPLE at events like this, but I managed to snap one with some new and old friends: Katie, Fiona, and Meghan.

IMG_0046.JPG

I really enjoyed my first tweet-up at the Melting Pot. It’s really neat to meet your Twitter buddies in person.

On my walk home from the T, I was pleasantly surprised to bump into these two guys:

IMG_0052.JPG

How adorable are they!? They put the biggest smile on my face when I saw them!

It’s a zillion degrees outside right now, so I’m staying hydrated with some lemon verbena geranium Herbal Water that the company sent me the sample. I’m on the fence about this flavor. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either. It definitely tastes like it’s infused with herbs, but it also tastes like there is soap in my water. Maybe I’ll like some of the other flavors better?

IMG_0053.JPG

I’m heading to bed soon because I have a RIDICULOUS day ahead of me tomorrow. I definitely need my rest.

Good night, blog friends!

Tweet up, hmm. sounds great.

I’ve never had fondue, I’m not a cheese fan & chocolate isn’t really a high need in my life, who knows I might love it but at this point, I’ll pass!
Glad you enjoyed yourself though.

I *love* that in America “original” means “peanut butter and chocolate”. I would kill someone for a go at that pot. WHhy won’t Australia jump on the peanut butter chocolate bandwagon?! Argh! It’s enough to make me throw in my PhD (which I haven’t started yet) and try to singlehandedly convert my fellow people to peanut butter. :D

Love your t-shirt and I love the Melting Pot. I think the restaurant brings a cool experience within the atmosphere and the fact that you “cook” your own food. But the cheese and chocolate course are my favorite ;) Glad you had a nice night!
