Don’t I look red carpet ready?!

I’ve had quite the busy evening– I actually hit not one, but two fun events. The first was the International T-Shirt Day Party and the second was a tweet-up at the Melting Pot downtown.
I love random national (and international) holidays, so I was totally IN for International T-Shirt Day. The tradition of T-Shirt Day began in 2008 on the first day of summer and ever since, people have gathered to celebrate the many facets and versatility of the t-shirt. Cool, right? I love a good t-shirt myself!

The party was held at Alibi– the same location as the Healthworks Blogger Bash a few weeks ago. As part of the T-Shirt Day celebration, participants designed their own free t-shirt online a couple of weeks ago and were invited to pick it up in person at the International T-Shirt Day Party. I love free stuff, so, of course, I was game!
After picking up my t-shirt, I stuck around for a little while to model my t-shirt on the “Open Runway” and do some mingling.

Then, it was time to eat FONDUE!!!

I died and went to fondue heaven!!
At the event, we enjoyed a variety of Melting Pot cheese and chocolate fondues, along with lots of goodies for dipping.

I grabbed a fork and got right down to business. I wasn’t shy!

The cheese fondues included Traditional Swiss, Cheddar, Spinach-Artichoke, Wisconsin Trio, and Fiesta Cheese. I loved them all, but my favorites were the Cheddar and the Wisconsin Trio, which both had a nice, bold flavor.

The chocolate fondues were really something special. There were so many “holy yum” varieties– I had a tough time not trying them all a few different times!

There was Cookies ‘N’ Cream, Bananas Foster, Pure Dark Chocolate, Flaming Turtle, and Original (peanut butter + chocolate). My absolute favorite combination of the evening was a mini Rice Crispy Treat dipped into the Original chocolate fondue. The fondue soaked into all of the tiny crevices… holy deliciousness!

The Flaming Turtle was pretty cool!

I also sampled some Apple Ice Wine, which is made locally in Harvard, MA. It was sweet and refreshing– perfect for a hot summer day like today!

I always forget to take photos of PEOPLE at events like this, but I managed to snap one with some new and old friends: Katie, Fiona, and Meghan.

I really enjoyed my first tweet-up at the Melting Pot. It’s really neat to meet your Twitter buddies in person.
On my walk home from the T, I was pleasantly surprised to bump into these two guys:

How adorable are they!? They put the biggest smile on my face when I saw them!
It’s a zillion degrees outside right now, so I’m staying hydrated with some lemon verbena geranium Herbal Water that the company sent me the sample. I’m on the fence about this flavor. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either. It definitely tastes like it’s infused with herbs, but it also tastes like there is soap in my water. Maybe I’ll like some of the other flavors better?

I’m heading to bed soon because I have a RIDICULOUS day ahead of me tomorrow. I definitely need my rest.
Good night, blog friends!

Aww thats really cool- I’ve never heard of a Tweet Up haha. Believe it or not I haven’t tried Melting Pot yet because I’m not a big cheese person HOWEVER I may have to try it for the chocolate- I can’t think of anything better than rice krispee with chocolate, yum!
i love a good t-shirt! and fondue is so much fun, a good way to bond with people you don’t really know.
woohoo for t-shirts!!! and i love melting pot…i can go straight fat kid on that cheesy delicious fondue
Tweet up, hmm. sounds great.
I’ve never had fondue, I’m not a cheese fan & chocolate isn’t really a high need in my life, who knows I might love it but at this point, I’ll pass!
Glad you enjoyed yourself though.
How do you always find out about these awesome events??
I looove the Melting Pot! I’ve tried the Herbal Water Lavender/Lemon I think and I loved it!
I have officially decided that you live in the coolest city EVER!!!! How fun your day was!!!
Love the t-shirt!!! Fondue is our favorite date night dinner and we love to try various combination … it can be really healthy too!
Excuse me, I need to go wipe the drool off my chin that appeared during the Melting Pot pictures! The tee shirt is adorable!!
Looks like you had a great night!! Love the t-shirt and the fondue looks amazing!!
I *love* that in America “original” means “peanut butter and chocolate”. I would kill someone for a go at that pot. WHhy won’t Australia jump on the peanut butter chocolate bandwagon?! Argh! It’s enough to make me throw in my PhD (which I haven’t started yet) and try to singlehandedly convert my fellow people to peanut butter.
Gotta love cheese! One of my favorite foods
I don’t know how you controlled yourself around that fondue! I would have gone and attacked the tables…it sounds SOOOOO good! Fondue is my weakness.
Turtle fondue?!?!?!?!?! Yum!
Cute t-shirt
so funny…yesterday you mentioned that today would be “back to the grind”. man, i need to re-evaluate this whole “working thing” that i do because being a blogger is so much more fun!! celebrating t-shirts and fondue? what a fabulous way to spend a monday!
Love the red carpet photo!
I have a Melting Pot restaurant 15 minutes away from my house and I’ve still never been there! I REALLY need to get there soon, because they all look phenomenal!

Looks like you had a blast! How fun!
I have friends who LOVE the melting pot, but it is certainly not within my budget! The spread looks amazing though. =)
Oh YUM that fondue looks incredible!

I’ve always wanted to try those fondue places. We have a Melting Pot in Chicago too but I’m saving my calorie bank for a special night, such as celebrating my happy weight when it comes!
LOVE t-shirt day. I wear t-shirts everyday.

Your blog gives me such Boston/city envy; I want to go to fun events!!
I have missed a good fondue! Especially the Melting Pot! I love putting on a great fitting t-shirt! I completely agree with Emily. There seems to be so many good events going on all the time! You never seem to run out of things to do.
Man, I haven’t had the Melting Pot for a long time. Looks like I need to go back.
Love your t-shirt and I love the Melting Pot. I think the restaurant brings a cool experience within the atmosphere and the fact that you “cook” your own food. But the cheese and chocolate course are my favorite
Glad you had a nice night!
The Melting Pot is SUCH a delicious restaurant. I always end up absolutely stuffing myself while there! I need to remember to get the Flaming Turtle next time, because it looks so fun. Glad you had a good time- hope you have a great day today!
I love the Melting Pot! It’s one of my favorite restaurants.
T-shirt day!? I need to pack up and move to Boston STAT.
Love the t-shirt, it’s so cute and there is definitely a holiday for everything.
I think a T-shirt might be the best dress code for a party ever
I love Melting Pot, but I don’t do the meat part. Something about boiling my meat in front of me. Um, no thanks. Oh, and I’ve had that water, too, and I totally agree that it tastes like soap. I’m not a fan.
I wish we had a T-Shirt even too, I love colourful and unique T-Shirt!
We just arranged a fondue date with friends, can’t wait!
Oh, I’m super jealous! Alibi & The Melting Pot are two of my favs spots in the city! Glad you had such a great time!!
