Surprise!

June 12, 2010

Happy 30th birthday to me!!!

IMG_0115.JPG

The second part of my b-day extravaganza was a surprise party at Max & Dylan’s in Charlestown. My husband, with the help of Marie, my mom, and sister, coordinated a wonderful birthday celebration for me. (Many thanks to Marie for snapping all of these photos!)

My mom and sister did the flowers for the party. They were so pretty!

My sister also made a Wall-O-Tina with photos of me from the past 30 years. Let’s just say that I had  A LOT of awkward years– bangs, perms, strange fashion choices. I loved it! :-D

Mal ordered 3 dozen cupcakes from Babycakes (my fav!) for the party. He’s my hero!

After the cooking class, I had an idea that something more was happening that evening, but I didn’t expect a room full of my friends and family when I arrived at Max & Dylan’s, especially since just Marie greeted us at the door. She brought me into a separate room where everyone yelled “surprised” when I walked through the door. I was definitely surprised! (Ali got a great pic of my reaction!)

I was immediately given a birthday shot to celebrate! ;-)

I <3 Mal!!! Best guy ever!

The Wall-O-Tina was really something special! ;-)

The best part of the evening was a scrapbook that Mal made for me with the help of my family and friends (which is why he spent so much time in the office the other night.)

A couple of months ago, Mal emailed my family and friends to invite them to my 30th birthday. If they couldn’t make it, he asked that they send a photo and/or message to include in the scrapbook. It was such a sweet gift!

I got a little teary-eyed reading some of the entries, but I also laughed a ton! I’ve done some ridiculous things over the years! It was cool to see that some of my blogger buddies contributed to it, too. Sabrina, Beth, Meghann, Erika, Chels, Susie, and Shannon all sent photos and birthday wishes. Thanks, guys!!

One blogger even came to my party last night! Ali!!! Love her!

So many of my family and friends came out for my birthday! I felt so loved! :-D

Yay! I’m so glad he was able to surprise you! Mal has been planning this for MONTHS! And I’m glad you got my birthday wishes. You are truly one of a kind Tina, enjoy your 30th year! Everyone says their 30s are better than their 20s anyways. :)

Hey Tina,

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now and I just wanted to say that I think you’re great and I really see you as a role model. Today was actually my 16th birthday and I had no idea your birthday was the 12th as well! I do see a lot of myself in you, what with our common love for eating yet staying healthy and keeping our cravings in check. Reading about your day to day life inspires me to make the best of mine. Just wanted to say thanks and keep doing what you’re doing.

Thanks,

Susie
