More Clues

June 11, 2010

So, I have a few more clues about Mal’s surprise:

  • He said he planned an “activity” for me.
  • I need to be ready to go by 5:30 this evening.
  • Mal suggested meeting up with Dave and Marie for drinks after the “activity.” (Perhaps this is part of his plan?)

Ahhhhh! I have no idea what to expect! I’m so excited!!!

Snack

After breakfast, I headed to the gym for a Body Pump class. (I went up to 28 pounds on the triceps track today! I’m telling ya, I’m a beast! ;-) ) When I got home, I showered-up and then snacked on the last couple of pieces of watermelon.

Then, it was time to get a manicure. (I splurged for my b-day! ;-) ) Thanks to some wonderful recommendations from my Twitter friends, I picked lilac for the color of my nails. I would have never thought to choose this color, but I am so glad that I did. It’s so fun! :-D

Lunch

After my manicure, it was time for lunch! I whipped up a veggie burger on a toasted sesame roll with tomato and red onion on top.

On the side, I made a lentil salad with penne, feta, tomato, and red onion.

It was a very satisfying meal.

IMG_0007.JPG

Like always, I craved something sweet after lunch, so I got a little creative in the kitchen this afternoon. I came up with the most amazing Peanut Butter & Banana Soft Serve that took just minutes to make. And, the best part: it only requires 3 ingredients!

Peanut Butter & Banana Soft Serve

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 heaping spoonful of peanut butter
  • Splash of soy milk

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth. Grab a spoon and enjoy! :-D

Omg, I LOVE THISSSSS!!! I think the only thing that would make it better is some Reese’s Pieces thrown into the mix. I’m seriously considering making another batch of this stuff. Maybe as an afternoon snack? ;-)

Monday Mini Goals

How did everyone do with their Monday Mini Goals for this week? I still have a few more things to do, but I’m well on my way to completing just about everything. I think I can do it all by tomorrow.

  • Exercise 5 times, including 2 Body Pump classes
  • Update my Recipe and Fitness pages
  • Update links on Trading Up Downtown
  • Write my Health post before Sunday night
  • Make a video for HLS
  • Schedule a facial
  • Buy train tickets to NYC

White On Rice

You guys know Lynn from The Actor’s Diet, right? Well, she has some exciting news to share! :-D

I’m happy to announce that my movie “White on Rice” has been picked up by Warner Bros. for Cable Video on Demand/Pay-Per-View and online distribution! For those of you who weren’t able to make it during its theatrical release, or at a film festival (where it was often a favorite) I hope you’ll find the time to watch the movie that the San Francisco Chronicle proclaimed would “…wring some laughs out of anyone but the most humor impaired…”

It is currently available on your cable-on-demand the next few months, or you can watch it on your ipad/ipod/computer via itunes or Amazon on demand.

I’m taking Murphy for his long walk of the day and then I need to get ready for my birthday surprise!!

Happy Birthday, Tina! I love that Mal has a night of surprises for you. I can’t wait to see what it ends up being. I think the hardest part would be knowing what to wear. Like, is it going to be kinda fancy or should I just wear a cute tshirt and go casual with flats? Have fun!

Ahhh, that’s been my idea of frozen pb-banana ice cream for months, except I don’t have a strong enough food processor to make it! I’m hoping that once my PhD scholarship starts, I’ll be able to buy a blender and go to town with this recipe :D

The picture of your hand and Murphy’s paw is ADORABLE. I was making such a fuss over it my husband is like, “why don’t you just make that your background picture!” Seriously, it’s adorable, and I also really like the lilac color. My sis-in-law persuaded me to get that color a few weeks back and I loved it! I got a lot of compliments on it too.

i’ve been a long-time reader but have never commented (shame on me…i know). omg! the pic of your manicure and murphy’s sweet little paw is the BEST! i have 2 dogs (a terrier/bichon mix and a shih tzu) and they are my babies. i have to admit, when they get groomed, they get nail polish too on occasion. i love your blog! it’s “paws down” my favorite. okay, going back to my incognito hole. :)

I made the banana soft serve for the first time and it is DELISH!!! It has the same creamy consistency as ice-cream, yuuuum! I used two frozen chopped bananas, tablespoon of hazelnut butter, cinnamon, cocoa powder and dollop of skimmed milk – this makes two servings, although it was so tasty I ate the whole lot!! :-)

Word of warning people: I’d chop up the bananas into small slices before freezing to avoid jamming up your blender when you come to make the dish.
