I love bright, bold colors, especially when it comes to fresh flowers!

I also love these colors when it comes to decorating my home as seen here, here, and here. However, when it comes to what I wear, I often pick neutral colors. I typically wear black with gray, hunter green, and navy thrown into the mix. But, ever since Murphy came into my life, I’ve tried to expand my color pallet.
If you own a pug, wearing black is a total disaster. They shed like crazy! Sometimes, not even a lint brush can help me! So, lately, I’ve incorporated brighter colors into my wardrobe as seen here and here. I didn’t realize it at first, but wearing bright colors makes me happy!
Breakfast
Now that there’s Barney Butter in my house, it’s the only thing I can think about eating. As soon as I got out of bed this morning, I headed straight for the kitchen to get my BB fix. This stuff is trouble!

I topped a toasted Sandwich Thin with Barney Butter and banana slices.

I also enjoyed a glass of Birthday Cake iced coffee with soy milk.

Feel Great Weight

I receive a lot of questions about how I am able to enjoy the “bad” foods so often and not gain weight. This week’s post is about how I balance my choices: Go Ahead and Indulge! 3 Sneaky Ways to Plan for Diet Splurges.
ThinkFood
Exciting news, guys! One of my recipes is published in a real live cookbook!

My recipe is published in a cookbook called ThinkFood, which features 50 brain-healthy recipes from bloggers around the globe. The cookbook features snacks, appetizers, sides and salads, main course and desserts. I’m sure you can guess which type of recipe I contributed!
Starting today, you can sign up for the Recipe of the Week, which will give you access to all 50 of the recipes in the cookbook for free. Every Wednesday, you’ll receive one recipe from the ThinkFood cookbook in your email inbox. Each recipe includes a photo, blogger bio, and information about its brain-healthy ingredients. (If you’d like to purchase a hardcopy of the ThinkFood cookbook, they’ll be available in mid-July.)
And, if having my recipe published in a cookbook wasn’t enough, guess who’s recipe is kicking off the Recipe of the Week campaign?! Yep, my recipe!! So, be sure to sign up to receive a printable version of my (cookie) recipe!

That’s awesome! Congrats on making it into the cookbook! I stick with black 99 percent of the time. It’s so easy, and it’s what I feel most comfortable in. Still, I love bold colors on other people.
Congrats on making it into the cookbook! Your recipe doesn’t happen to include barney butter, does it?
Congrats! I find it very interesting that you get a lot of comments regarding eating “bad” foods. I am also considered to be “healthy” (whatever that means) by friends and family. So many people seem to think eating healthy is an all or nothing approach. After a day at my inlaws where I took pains to eat a diet filled filled with veggies, whole grains, and a 6 mile run, my father in law remarked that since I got myself a scoop of light ice cream after dinner I had “undone” my whole day. I seem to encounter this “logic” all the time and it DRIVES ME CRAZY! Wow, I used a lot of quotation marks in this comment.
Congrats on the book! I’m a pretty colorful peron — in almost every aspect of my life
*person — DUH!
Congratulations on getting into the cookbook AND having your recipe as the kick-off!
Those flowers are gorgeous. I keep meaning to buy some for the house but never do. Even small ones make such a difference!
Way to go with the cookbook!!
I’m like you. I love colours but I always seem to wear neutral colours or BLACK. Sometimes I looks like a widow with all the black I wear.
Oh, and I love the article. It’s all about give-n-take. You definitely don’t have to give up indulgences to lose or maintain a healthy weight. Thanks for writing it!
Congrats on getting your recipe published! Whats so different about Barney Butter? There are SO many nut butters out there. I need to ration myself otherwise they will take over my kitchen.
Love the flowers – they are gorgeous! I wear a lot of black and dark blue, so I like to mix it up with bright magentas, yellows, and aqua… when I remember
I wear a ton of bright colors, but orange is my favorite! I have an orange kitchen, lots of orange clothes and a few really cool orange purses.
Those flowers are so pretty! I need to drop some hints to my husband…but he did just buy me tickets to see Paul McCartney, so I can’t put too much pressure on him!
i can only wear red and khaki to work.
But i’ve been trying to buy different color blouses for this summer! PS. you also look great cause of all that body pump!
High five! That’s amazing news. Beautiful flowers to brighten the week and an amazing announcement on top.
That cookbook looks fab and I’ll definitely have to sign up for the recipes of the week. I love findings new things to try!
Congrats! That’s exciting! And those flowers are so pretty! I love bright colors, I didn’t even own a black shirt until I went to college, shocking right?
My favorite color is blue! I like red too and really like to wear white, especially in the summer.
Congrats on your recipe, definitely going to sign up for the free ones!
Lovely flowers! I found that fuschia top you wore very cute!
Congrats on the cookbook!
I noticed that I tend to wear a lot of neutral colors in the winter months, and a lot more bright colors in the spring and summer. Must be something about the seasons! I also have to beware of black now…my cat Cody’s orange hairs just LOVE finding their way onto my clothes.
I also realized in my home, that I really have a thing for the blue/brown combo. I’m attracted to it every time I go shopping for home decor…I don’t know what it is?!?
I think bright is best in most situations, but keep it more neutral in an office setting.
I love BRIGHT colors- they energize me & make me happy! Green, blue, orange, yellow, you name it
What a neat idea with the cookbook! I also started incorporating brighter colours in my wardrobe – a bright coloured or patterned blouse can really spice up a boring business casual outfit!
Those flowers just made my morning. I love flowers with bright colors like that. Actually…I love all flowers
I know what you mean about wearing dark colors…we wear a lot of black and we now have 2 orange cats…I think we should have gotten black cats (but we love our little fur creatures so it is totally worth it). You do look great in bright colors. I stick with earth tones…taupe, brown, green, black…
Have a great day!
I like RED. It’s all over my house. And warm colors. I wear a lot of dark colors, but more recently I’ve been shifting more toward bright colors, particularly red and yellow. Though I nice emerald green has my heart every now and then.
The color scheme in my house includes light blue, beige, dark blue, burgundy! We kind of went with the colors in an antique oriental rug given to us by my parents – it works!
In terms of attire, I’m definitely a neutrals person… but do throw in some fun color from time to time! (Rarely pink though, and never neon!)
Congrats on the cookbook! I love color… but only like one or two colors in an outfit. Hah. I shouldn’t even call them “outfits”; my daily attire is some kind of tank top with a pair of shorts. I can get away with that, ’cause I’m 15, hahah! Today I’m wearing a bright blue tank (that I may or may not have worn yesterday…) and short jean shorts (my mom calls them Daisy Dukes, but they’re not!) However for decorating, I love more muted and natural colors like tans, creams, and golds. So warm and peaceful!
My two favorite colors are bright orange(my walls) and bright green(my bed spread)
i LOVE color…bright and vibrant
they’re all over, but i would say i use a lot of greens, oranges, and blues…so pretty!
I tend to dress in black with a splash of pink or red or purple. My house however is brightly coloured (yellow kitchen, purple couch, purple and red bedsheets etc)!! And all our crockery and cookwear is a mish mash of colours. We have so many coloured mugs!
My office is also the room I teach private lessons in so it’s mostly neutrals with some chakra colour decorations and a pale blue desk. <3 it.
I would love to have a pug and it will happen one day. I have already decided I must have a black pug though!
I am always partial to anything to anything green or cranberry colored. I am drawn to them.
I’m all about neutrals. Bright and flashy is just so not me!
I love wearing bright colors. Especially yellows and blues.
Congrats on being in the cookbook! I’m thinking of trying those banana oatmeal cookies. Mmm.
I’m a big fan of bold colors (especially for home decor, too!). I have a thing for royal blue- it’s one of my favorites to wear and decorate with.
Congrats on the recipe!!! I’m sure it’s delish.
I have SO much black in my closet. I think I own 7 pairs of black pants. But I enjoy spicing them up with bright colors on top. Especially in the Summer
My husband calls me Johnny Cash, need I say more? I have been trying to wear more color, but I really like black & don’t see the problem! I just signed up for the emails of the recipes, I’m so excited-thanks!
Congrats on the cookbook. I’m going to sign up for that email.
Blue!!
I apply it to almost everything and plan on painting my bedroom in a seashore blue this summer. And my closet is packed full of blue attire.
my house is pretty neutral, though i like pops of color in the kitchen with my pots/pans etc. i also have blick on the walls, since i rent.
My room and workspace is always really bright, but it is easier just to wear darker and neutral colors. Now that it is summer I can’t get away with it anymore though. Bring out the yellow and the blue!
Congratulations on having one of your recipes published in a recipe book. That’s so cool!! I signed up for the weekly emails!
Color is so important in my life…it makes my day better + brighter, especially when I need a kick in the pants.
I’m all about the pinks and jewel tones!
CONGRATS on the recipe!!!!
The colors seen in my home and “office” are usually warm but neutral. My clothing colors are usually in the cool category. When it’s comes to flowers I like anything with a rich color that brightens up the room.
I LOVE this topic, it’s actually one of the first I blogged about when I started blogging a few months ago.
Anyone interested in my post can check it out here!

As a Pug owner, I’ve definitely incorporated a lot of khaki…but we found a solution! I met my first shaved Pug last summer, and mine has had a hair cut ever since. It takes about 20 minutes at a groomer, they really don’t look any different physically, and he sheds a lot less (and when he does they’re tiny hairs). He also seems to enjoy his monthly “beautifying.”
It’s so awesome that your recipe is kicking it all off!
There is nothing like fresh flowers to brighten a morning. What a gorgeous bouquet to go with a scrumptious BB breakfast!
That’s so cool that your recipe is being published in the cookbook! I emailed that cookie recipe to myself and will try it soon. I love your recipes Tina!
Congrats on the book- that’s awesome!
I have a vizsla and were told they don’t shed… HA. It was a marketing ploy
I love my sweet girl, but I understand that lint brushes don’t take care of all the hair.
I love wearing CORAL! I actually don’t own much coral, but necklaces that are coral or turquoise just scream summer to me. And coral looks good on everyone
I love bright colours! I try to wear at least one bright in part of my wardrobe (today its my orange nailpolis). But I love bright pinks, and teals! I have to make an effort to wear yellow more often though!
In the Fall and Winter I wear tons of browns/khaki and maybe the occasional hunter green. In the spring time I really like to start bringing out the colors – bright pinks, blues, etc
Congrats on the recipe! I just signed up : )
I love love love bright colors. My closet is full of pastels, and my room is bright pink & orange! I’ve also been a ‘spring fashion’ girl because those colors suit my skin tone best.
