Can you believe that I have never visited Philadelphia?! I’ve lived in the northeast for my entire life, but I’ve never been to Philly. Ok, so, I’ve driven through the city on various occasions, but I haven’t spent any considerable amount of time there. So, of course, I’m really look forward to seeing what it’s all about this weekend.

I’m a big dork, and I am especially excited to see the “Rocky Steps” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I can’t promise that I won’t reenact the scene from the movie! 😉

Breakfast

For breakfast this morning, I rocked the Overnight Oats in a Jar. I really love this breakfast– mostly because I don’t have to do a single thing in the morning when I wake up, except eat! 😀

Mal and I go through peanut butter like it’s our job, but we actually had two jars going at the same time, which is why we suddenly have another empty one. We’re not that nutty about peanut butter! 😉

In the mix:

  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1/4 cup Mad Hectic oatmeal
  • 3/4 cup vanilla soy milk
  • Chia seeds
  • Flaxseeds
  • Walnuts
  • Raisins

Pack, Pack, Pack

Packing used to give me serious anxiety. I used to dread it. But, now that I do quite a bit of traveling for my job, I’ve become pretty good at packing. I’m definitely not an expert, but I am getting the hang of it. Now, it takes me much less time and energy to get everything together.

But, it’s still hard to say goodbye to this adorable pug face. 😕

Ok, so I’m a bit of an over-packer. The thought of under-packing totally stresses me out. I HATE forgetting something important– like the time I went to Seattle for my sister-in-law’s 30th birthday and didn’t pack a single bra (besides the one I was wearing). Thankfully, we had time to swing by the mall to buy me a couple, including a strapless one for my dress. That was an adventure!

Back in October for the POM Blogger Harvest Tour, I listed what I packed for a 3-day trip. (I never check luggage– even for long trips.) Looking back, I’m surprised by how much I brought with me. I pack so much less now! For me, the key to not overpacking is making sure that just about every piece of clothing I bring works with at least two different outfits. For instance, I packed a long raspberry colored sweater for my trip to Philly, and it goes with three different outfits. So, instead of packing 3 different sweaters, just one does the trick. Same goes for shoes. I rarely pack more than 2 pairs (+ sneakers) for a trip.

#393 Maren

I love to eat tofu on sandwiches. I had such a hard time eating sandwiches once I went vegetarian and tofu steaks and hummus saved the day!

Congrats, Maren! Please email me at tina@carrotsncake.com with your full name and mailing address to claim your prize.
