Sunday Night Tradition Addition

May 31, 2010

What a weekend!! 8-)

For once in a long time, I actually felt like I was able to enjoy a vacation… and it was so awesome!  Now that blogging is my full-time job, I rarely take time off, but, sometimes, it’s nice to take a break– even though, I still posted photo recaps of my weekend with a total of 25 words! ;-)

Breakfast

Mal, Murphy, and I spent the night at Fanny Farm with Dave and Marie and their puppies. We all slept-in and puttered around the house in our PJs before heading to breakfast at Bagels Plus in Acton. I ordered their grilled veggie sandwich with Swiss cheese on a toasted sunflower seed bagel.

IMG_0002.JPG

Sunflower bagels rule. I had no idea how delicious they’d be. They’re similar to sesame seed bagels, but I guess I prefer the flavor and chewiness of the sunflower seeds over the sesame seeds.

IMG_0003.JPG

Mmmmm! I can’t wait to replicate this sandwich at home! :-D

IMG_0008.JPG

I also drank some iced coffee with breakfast.

IMG_0006.JPG

Lunch

I have a crazy, crazy week ahead, so I spent 5 hours catching up/getting ahead on work for the week, so I never really ate a “real” lunch. Basically, I ended up snacking all afternoon long.

I started with a bowl of granola + Puffins and soy milk X 2.

IMG_0010.JPG

Then munched on a TON of pitted dates.

IMG_0013.JPG IMG_0015.JPG

And some walnuts. (These photos show just some of what I ate!)

IMG_0017.JPG

I finished off my snack attacked with some pickles.

IMG_0019.JPG

Dinner

For dinner, Mal and I headed to Milton Marketplace to grab dinner and a few groceries for the week.

IMG_0001.JPG

On the menu tonight were Make-Your-Own-Salads. So fun! :-D

Check out this salad bar!!! It seriously has everything– marinated tofu, Asian coleslaw, edamame, stuffed grapes leaves, sun-dried tomatoes, chickpea patties, falafel balls, hummus, buffalo chicken tenders, breaded artichoke hearts, every bean salad imaginable, and tons and tons of fresh fruits and veggies. I could have easily made a $20 salad with all of the different options.

IMG_0003.JPG

The salad bar also had Cinnamon and Sugar Pita Chips, which I grabbed for dessert.

IMG_0004.JPG

My salad:

My dessert:

Mal and I ate our salads while celebrating Sunday Movie Night. (We watched Duplicity with Julia Roberta and Clive Owen.) The Make-Your-Own-Salads were such a hit, we might add this meal to our weekly tradition.

IMG_0003.JPG

I also enjoyed a few M&Ms while watching the movie.

IMG_0004.JPG

I’m making overnight oats then reading in bed.

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Your fantastic looking bagel sando reminds me of this fabulous bagel sandwich that I used to get a Finagle at Bagel when I worked at the Harvard University Box Office. I went to BU but hopped the red line to work at Harvard and it was a great way to get off my own campus and take in another. I don’t remember the details of my ever-so-amazing bagel (it’s 9 years and a lot of beers later)…but damn was it good.

That looks like such an insanely delicious day to me! I wish we had a place like that make-your-own-salad place in my city in Australia… instead, I’ll just have to triple the amount of sugar and cinnamon in my oatmeal and pretend it’s a bowl of pita chips! :D
