Sunday Night Tradition Addition

May 31, 2010

What a weekend!! 8-)

For once in a long time, I actually felt like I was able to enjoy a vacation… and it was so awesome!  Now that blogging is my full-time job, I rarely take time off, but, sometimes, it’s nice to take a break– even though, I still posted photo recaps of my weekend with a total of 25 words! ;-)

Breakfast

Mal, Murphy, and I spent the night at Fanny Farm with Dave and Marie and their puppies. We all slept-in and puttered around the house in our PJs before heading to breakfast at Bagels Plus in Acton. I ordered their grilled veggie sandwich with Swiss cheese on a toasted sunflower seed bagel.

Sunflower bagels rule. I had no idea how delicious they’d be. They’re similar to sesame seed bagels, but I guess I prefer the flavor and chewiness of the sunflower seeds over the sesame seeds.

Mmmmm! I can’t wait to replicate this sandwich at home! :-D

I also drank some iced coffee with breakfast.

Lunch

I have a crazy, crazy week ahead, so I spent 5 hours catching up/getting ahead on work for the week, so I never really ate a “real” lunch. Basically, I ended up snacking all afternoon long.

I started with a bowl of granola + Puffins and soy milk X 2.

Then munched on a TON of pitted dates.

And some walnuts. (These photos show just some of what I ate!)

I finished off my snack attacked with some pickles.

Dinner

For dinner, Mal and I headed to Milton Marketplace to grab dinner and a few groceries for the week.

On the menu tonight were Make-Your-Own-Salads. So fun! :-D

Check out this salad bar!!! It seriously has everything– marinated tofu, Asian coleslaw, edamame, stuffed grapes leaves, sun-dried tomatoes, chickpea patties, falafel balls, hummus, buffalo chicken tenders, breaded artichoke hearts, every bean salad imaginable, and tons and tons of fresh fruits and veggies. I could have easily made a $20 salad with all of the different options.

The salad bar also had Cinnamon and Sugar Pita Chips, which I grabbed for dessert.

Mal and I ate our salads while celebrating Sunday Movie Night. (We watched Duplicity with Julia Roberta and Clive Owen.) The Make-Your-Own-Salads were such a hit, we might add this meal to our weekly tradition.

I also enjoyed a few M&Ms while watching the movie.

I’m making overnight oats then reading in bed.

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend! And what a brilliant salad bar. I’m jealous! (Just a note: I think you meant ‘pottered’ not ‘putted’ around the house)

Wow. I can hardly handle the AWESOMENESS from this post! That salad bar is something I would die to visit and sunflower bagles? No idea those existed, but now they’re on my Must Acquire List. I need to move to Boston sometime soon…

I live in Boston and have never been to Milton Marketplace. I love salad bars and this one looks amazing! I can’t wait to check it out. Thanks for the post :)

That bagel looks AMAZING! I want to try to duplicate it too :)

And I LOVE Milton Market!

This may seem stalker-ish since I’m not a frequent commenter, but the other day (I want to say Monday, but I could be wrong), I was driving in the Milton-Quincy area, and I saw a pug and a guy that looked just like Mal walking…now seeing your Milton market post, I’m thinking that this really was them. :)

@Steph: We actually didn’t walk Murphy that day because he was so tired from our trip to Maine. Must have been a lookalike!

I am super inspired Tina. This may sound like really weird, but I want to start food blogging as well. It’s sort of been an ambition of mine, plus I love food but I have had trouble with my image for a while. Like I panic when I make a mistake and eat something not healthy. I too am an avid runner and I make it a goal to exercise everyday. I’m just entering college as a Freshman in Grand Rapids, MI. Have any suggestions? :)
Keep blogging!

Hey Tina! I have been hearing about this place for so long and I finally went to the Fruit Center last night and I hate to even admit this, but I couldn’t find the salad bar!!! I was too embarrassed to ask and I had a few things in my basket so I just bought them and went home. Where is it??? :)

That salad bar is H-U-G-E. I’m a little jealous. And that sunflower seed bun looks delish.
