Monday with Murphy

May 10, 2010

It’s been a busy Monday for Murphy and me!

Now that I work from home 4 days a week, Murphy and I spend a lot of time together. I love hanging out with my cutie-pie pug, but he’s the type of dog that always wants to be with you. He constantly follows me around the house and always wants to sit in my lap. It can get a little annoying, but Murphy is so stickin’ cute, I usually don’t mind that much. ;-)

After breakfast, Murphy and I went for a 30-minute walk around the neighborhood, and then I went to Body Pump while he napped in his crate. When I got home, we played with Bone and Egg for a little while, and then it was time to get back to work. While I worked at the dining room table, Murphy chewed and chewed and chewed. Chewing took up most of his morning… like it usually does.

Now Murphy is basically sleeping in my crotch as I work at the coffeetable in the living room. I’m sure it’s comfortable for him, but my hip is starting to hurt!

Before lunch, I decided to dye my hair (via $4.99 Clairol box). I only dye my hair a couple of times a year just to brighten it up. My natural hair color is dark brown, but it gets sort of dull after awhile. Hair dye seems to liven it up.

While I dyed my hair in the bathroom, Murphy sat on the bath mat and stared at me. He was very confused about what I was doing to myself.

Snack

Before starting on lunch, I snacked on a mini Apple Cinnamon Muffin.

Lunch

I tried a yummy new recipe for lunch today. A few weeks ago, I received the Lean & Green Meal Cookbook to review on CNC. While flipping through it, a recipe for Zucchini Fritters immediately caught my attention.

In the mix: eggs, egg whites, grated zucchini, onion, onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper.

It was basically an egg pancake with grated zucchini in it. I liked it a lot! :-D

I wasn’t sure if the Zucchini Fritter would be filling enough for lunch, so I added some leftover garlicky shrimp couscous with brussels sprouts on the side.

After lunch, I wanted something sweet (surprise, surprise!), so I spread peanut butter and caramel sauce on a piece of whole wheat bread. It was awesome.

I’m working for a few more hours and then I am heading downtown to take a food writing class. I’m always trying to improve my writing, so I’m definitely looking forward to this course. I’ll let ya know how it goes!

See ya for din! 8-)

P.S. Starbucks is holding daily Happy Hours from now until May 16. Just visit a participating Starbucks between 3 and 5 p.m., and enjoy a half-price Frappuccino. Maybe I’ll get one for dinner? ;-)

I’ve been thinking about doing a semi permanent red tint to my hair but have never, ever dyed my hair in my life. is it hard to do yourself?

I’m thinking of dying my hair for the same reason you mentioned. Well, to brighten it up *and* cover the grey in my case. I’ve had it professionally done in the past, but I’m looking to save some money. Hopefully I can be successful!

My dog love to snuggle if I’m sitting on the floor, but she only rarely wants to come up on my lap if I’m on the couch. I think I’d love Murphy’s closeness, but I’m big on snuggling :)

And now I’m off to mix up peanut butter with maple syrup and eat it on bread, in an approximation of your treat!

Please keep the Murphy pictures coming! I love pugs! I had two of them before and now have a pug/beagle mix. I love looking at your Murphy pictures and first fell in love with your blog just due to them. Now I chime in just to see what you are eating for the day!

My puggle Stanley is always following me around the house too. If I’m sitting down he’s usually under the table or desk. If I’m on the couch, he’s right there leaning up against me or on my lap. Dogs are such great companions! Please keep the Murphy pictures coming. What a cute dog!

I have a mini-Dachshund named Clyde and he’s VERY needy and wants to be with me all the time when I’m home too. I kinda think we should have named him “Shadow”! Also, I love your blog and I grew up in NH, so reading your posts and seeing your Boston pics makes me happy and makes me think of New England. Go Sox! :)

Murphy is so handsome! I have 3 Pugs so I know exactly what it’s like trying to get work done with them sprawled out all over you.
