Favorite Day of the Year

Murphy, seriously?!?

IMG_1152.JPG

My dog has a serious peanut butter problem. He looks ridiculous in this photo!

After I made my breakfast this morning (which included peanut butter), I wiped my hands on the towel by our kitchen sink. They must have had a little bit of peanut butter on them because, not a minute later, Murphy started licking the towel for remnants of peanut butter. What a freak. He has serious PB issues.

Snack + Workout

Marie and I woke up bright and early and took Body Pump with “Vicky” this morning. I love that Vicky whizzes through class! Our workout is over and done with before we know it! Today, however, she didn’t give us enough time to switch our weights between triceps and biceps, so I ended up doing 23 pounds on biceps! Let me tell you, my muscles were screaming! 8-O I stopped a few times to rest, but I’m glad that I challenged myself.

Before I headed to the gym, I snacked on a homemade granola bar.

Breakfast

After my workout, I threw together a quickie breakfast: a Joseph’s pita with peanut butter and sliced banana inside.

I loaded up on both PB + banana! ;-)

I also had a chocolate whey + iced coffee + vanilla soy milk beverage with breakfast.

Calling All Boston Marathon Runners

In the coming weeks, I’d like to write a blog post about those of you who are running the Boston Marathon. If you’d like to participate, please send me a little profile about yourself (age, location, # of marathons, blog link, fundraising info, etc.) and a photo, and I’ll create a blog post devoted to all of the Boston Marathon runners.

If you didn’t know already, Marathon Monday is my absolute favorite day of the year– even more so than Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, and my birthday. I’m pretty much obsessed with the day, which I explain here and here. Obviously, running the Boston Marathon is my ultimate dream, but I have walked the course 3 times now with the Jimmy Fund. With my stupid hip, who knows if a marathon is in my future. But, even still, I love everything about Marathon Monday!

Question of the Day

What is your favorite day of the year?

Omg your dog cracks me up! So glad you caught that on camera. And he must get his PB obsession from his mom. :)

My favorite day of the year is a toss-up between Christmas EVE and my birthday. Yeah, I’m a dork, but at 25 (almost 26 – May 8th), I still love my birthday. Christmas Eve just holds so much magic. There’s always so much anticipation and I luckily still feel like a kid a lot, so I enjoy it!

This is my first year in Boston and I just learned about Marathon Monday. Do people take that day off from work?

I’ve run Boston the last 3 years (I’m passing this year to try a new marathon and return to another I haven’t run in years) and it’s such a fun day!! NYC on the first Sunday in November is the same way, it’s just one big party with 40,000 people just happening to run by. I can definitely see why you look forward to Patriot’s Day!!

Marathon Monday was a lot more fun when I was at BC- never been quite as fun since then. But it is a good time :) I would love to run Boston someday but my knee doesn’t let me run much either so, it’s not looking good for me either.

On the other hand I love your dog! Seriously. Not only is he the cutest thing ever, but SO smart- peanut butter is the best food!

Hahaha omg that pic of Murphy is so funny. Clearly he enjoys PB just as much as his mama.

I love the random sightings of friends or old acquaintances I see running every year. I always get the day off, my husband doesn’t, so it’s a mini-me day! I walk all the way to the finish line, and usually go up towards Kenmore a bit and just watch the stream of people and cheer. I have seen high school friends running, old co-workers, friends from art class, you name it, I love it! Alas, I have awful knees, so I don’t run unless I’m being chased :) I do bike though, does that count?

Like mother like puppy-son :-)

I love Easter. Even with all the extra work for my job I love the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ and enjoying the beauty of spring.

My dogs do the same thing, anytime something is wiped on the kitchen towel – so annoying! My favorite day of the year…is not an exact date…but it always includes a summer day, at the lake, or on a pinic, soaking in the summer rays with no agenda:)

Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) April 1, 2010 at 11:28 am

My favorite day is a tie between Christmas and my birthday. I understand Murphy’s love for peanut butter. :)

That’s the funniest photo (and story) of Murphy so far!! And I love how your pita is just a vehicle for peanut butter and banana – you’re a woman after my own heart :)

Great idea with the pita. Your biceps are going to be hurting tomorrow. You will have a good reminder of your hard work.
