Body Pump 73 is sa-weet!  It’s so different from 72, but in a good way! 😉 The squat track is totally ridiculous. There were a million single squats, which had my legs screaming for mercy, but the music motivated me to keep pumping right to the end of the song. Similarly, the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” track for shoulders was painful, but oh so fun! 😀

Tonight, my gym hosted a “Fridays are for Friends” event for the release of BP 73. Members had to bring a non-member friend in order to attend the launch class tonight.

A few weeks ago, Julie emailed me with a couple of questions about Body Pump. She had never taken a class, so I invited her to the launch event tonight. Mal took our friend, Josh, to the class this evening. He also wanted to see what Body Pump was all about.

The nice BP instructors set up our equipment tonight. 😉

It was so nice to meet Julie! She’s as sweet in person as she is in her blog.

The gym provided refreshments after class, so we lingered for a little while. Mal and Josh refueled with fruit and bagels while Julie and I tried some smoothie samples.

Dinner

Dinner was totally random tonight. I was so hungry when I got home from Body Pump, I threw together something quick and easy. I ended up making a peanut butter and banana sandwich in a pita.

A little while later, I made some Almond Joy “Ice Cream.” Apparently, I’m on a banana kick this evening. (I ate 3 bananas today! I’m pretty sure that’s a record for me!)

I still haven’t started packing for my trip! GAH! 😯 It’s going to be a late night!

I am so glad people get excited about Marathon Monday! All of the cheers along the course definitely help to carry the runners. I have experienced a lot of great things in my life, but there are no words to express how amazing it feels turning on to Boylston Street and seeing the blue and yellow balloons at the finish line. It makes me tear up just thinking about it!!

For Kerry, training for the Boston Marathon has been more than a physical task. It’s also been an exercise in shifting goals and adjusting expectations.

In January, Kerry injured her IT Band, the group of fibers that runs along the outside of the thigh to the knee (a very common injury among runners). She had to adjust her training to include less running, and more swimming, RIDE classes and strength training. With just over a week to go, she’s back running and excited for April 19.

Kerry writes: “I’m feeling like it is a very doable accomplishment. I had no idea what an emotional journey this would be. I’m not very good at accepting what I don’t have power over. Being competitive, I had a time in my head — to complete the marathon in under four hours. But I’m changing my goal and working on being proud of just finishing.”

My goal in life was to run one marathon, but then I became addicted and now my goal was to run 10 by the time I graduate from grad school, which is perfect because I graduate May 7. Other marathons I have run include: Miami (FL) Marathon (2), Chicago (3) and New York (1). Good luck to everyone running on Marathon Monday and if you see big blow up bananas while you are running, that is my parents and family friends!!!
