Body Pump 73 is sa-weet!
It’s so different from 72, but in a good way!
The squat track is totally ridiculous. There were a million single squats, which had my legs screaming for mercy, but the music motivated me to keep pumping right to the end of the song. Similarly, the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” track for shoulders was painful, but oh so fun!

Tonight, my gym hosted a “Fridays are for Friends” event for the release of BP 73. Members had to bring a non-member friend in order to attend the launch class tonight.
A few weeks ago, Julie emailed me with a couple of questions about Body Pump. She had never taken a class, so I invited her to the launch event tonight. Mal took our friend, Josh, to the class this evening. He also wanted to see what Body Pump was all about.

The nice BP instructors set up our equipment tonight.

It was so nice to meet Julie! She’s as sweet in person as she is in her blog.

The gym provided refreshments after class, so we lingered for a little while. Mal and Josh refueled with fruit and bagels while Julie and I tried some smoothie samples.

Dinner
Dinner was totally random tonight. I was so hungry when I got home from Body Pump, I threw together something quick and easy. I ended up making a peanut butter and banana sandwich in a pita.

A little while later, I made some Almond Joy “Ice Cream.” Apparently, I’m on a banana kick this evening. (I ate 3 bananas today! I’m pretty sure that’s a record for me!)

I still haven’t started packing for my trip! GAH!
It’s going to be a late night!

I am so glad people get excited about Marathon Monday! All of the cheers along the course definitely help to carry the runners. I have experienced a lot of great things in my life, but there are no words to express how amazing it feels turning on to Boylston Street and seeing the blue and yellow balloons at the finish line. It makes me tear up just thinking about it!!

For Kerry, training for the Boston Marathon has been more than a physical task. It’s also been an exercise in shifting goals and adjusting expectations.
In January, Kerry injured her IT Band, the group of fibers that runs along the outside of the thigh to the knee (a very common injury among runners). She had to adjust her training to include less running, and more swimming, RIDE classes and strength training. With just over a week to go, she’s back running and excited for April 19.
Kerry writes: “I’m feeling like it is a very doable accomplishment. I had no idea what an emotional journey this would be. I’m not very good at accepting what I don’t have power over. Being competitive, I had a time in my head — to complete the marathon in under four hours. But I’m changing my goal and working on being proud of just finishing.”
Danielle
Age: 24
Location: Boston, MA.
# of marathons: 9 completed, 4th time running Boston

My goal in life was to run one marathon, but then I became addicted and now my goal was to run 10 by the time I graduate from grad school, which is perfect because I graduate May 7. Other marathons I have run include: Miami (FL) Marathon (2), Chicago (3) and New York (1). Good luck to everyone running on Marathon Monday and if you see big blow up bananas while you are running, that is my parents and family friends!!!

i can’t wait to hear about your trip this weekend…PLEASE tell me you’re going to the beach too?! if so, soak up some sun for me
Yay for bananas!!! You can never have too many…
I’m also jealous of Body Pump! My gym has something similar and I can’t wait to try it when I can exercise again!
What fun! Sometimes I wish I had a bigger gym so I could try out some of the really cool classes..but then again, I’m glad it’s not anymore crowded than it is! Glad you liked the new version!
Have fun !!
Body pump sounds awesome sounds so awesome, I have heard nothing but good things.
3 bananas in one day! you’re a monkey!
Sometimes those easy meals are so necessary! Looks yum!
There ain’t nothin’ wrong with eating narners
I would love to try Body Pump! Looks like a great class!
That looks like so much fun!
And you better get packing
I love Body Pump! I’ve been going twice a week and I feel stronger and firmer. It’s just like you said- quick and dirty.
Hi,
I just love your blog. Maybe, because I’m a total Les Mills fanatic, so it’s nice to read what other people think about the classes. Thou I’m not so exited about release 73, bit boring I think. It sure makes me sweat, but I’ve been doing more Body Combat and Balance now.
But I’m so glad you liked it!
I have always thought that Les Mills isn’t so big in USA? I’m from Finland and I don’t think there are many gym’s here whitout Les Mlls classes..
I also hope my english is understandable and there isn’t too much mistakes
Yay Kerry!!!!!
You know, I feel like a lot of people would think that your Almond Joy Ice Cream isn’t the most visually appealing treat out there… and yet to me, it looks so incredibly delicious and enticing! Funny how the mind works
Looks like your gym has a huge studio! That’s awesome!
mmm smoothie samples. Sounds like my kind of gym!
Love the new body pump! I really hate the music haha but the workout is great! I think this is the best abs that I’ve seen in awhile!
In other news: MARATHON LADIES!! My gym (Healthworks in Copley) is closing the gym to everyone but runners on Marathon Monday! After you race if you want a shower, have to pee, or want some food & a beverage, head over to Healthworks on Dartmouth street right next to the Fairmont Copley Hotel and you’ll be welcomed right in!
PB&banana in pita is one of my fav meals! Body pump sounds so intense!
Squats and me have a love-hate relationship. I dread doing them but they make me feel great!!
Have fun packing tonight
Wow @Danielle – 9 marathons completed!! I think whatever marathon bug is out there, she’s been well and truly bitten by it
Class sounds FUN!!
Your arms look SO ripped! =)
Still haven’t tried Body Pump, my sister absolutely loves it!
I usually stick to one!
I ate 2 bananas yesterday, not very common either.
I had so much fun!! I am really tempted to rejoin QAC…AHH!! what to do?!
I love when gyms have fun promotions like that. I know they are just trying to get more members but it’s so fun to get to try new classes
Yay for Meghan and the other marathoners! I might be a little bias but I definitely think Boston is the best marathon, so much spirit!
I love how Mal embraces body pump
The classes I’ve been to rarely have men! How much weight does he use?
@Hannah: Really? No one has ever said anything like that about it.
@diana(mymarblerye): A lot! Twice as much as me. The BP classes at my gym are 1/3 male, so he’s not that out of place.
Looks like a lot of fun and I’m sure a ton of hard work last night.
Last weekend our BP instructor was saying that the bicept track is tough.
Tina, you are look buff!! Your arms look great!
Love that you took one of your readers to the body pump class! Tina you are so sweet
Thanks for posting my profile!
