A Very Active Day

April 27, 2010

I.am.exhausted. Physically exhausted, that is. I moved my body so much today. I went to a yoga class, took Murphy for a 45-minute walk, and then went to Body Pump this evening. No wonder I’m pooped!

I’m going to sleep so well tonight– and I’m definitely taking tomorrow off from any kind of exercise. My body needs a break. I can just feel it, ya know?

Snack

Before Body Pump, I snacked on a Coconut Carrot Cake Muffin and some prunes. I munched on a few more prunes, but I didn’t snap a pic. You know what prunes look like! ;-)

Dinner

After Body Pump, I took the quickest shower ever and headed straight to the kitchen to reheat some leftovers for dinner. When I was out with Jen last night, Mal made a yummy recipe from Real Simple: Cheesy Baked Pasta With Spinach and Artichokes.

A day later, Mal’s meal didn’t look very pretty…

IMG_0006.JPG

But reheating it in the microwave made it all better! ;-)

This was a really great dish. It included lots of my favorites– artichokes, spinach, pasta, and cheese– how could it not taste delicious?!

On the side, I had a salad topped with the last of the Carrot and Apple Slaw.

Dinner was filling, but, of course, I had room for the other half of my Oreo Blizzard! ;-)

Only having half of a Blizzard to eat was just not fair! It left me wanting more. :-?

I’m taking it easy for the rest of the night. My body needs some R & R.

Good night, bloggies!

Hey Tina! I tried Body Pump last night based on your excellent reviews of it..lol..was thinking of taking another class today except that I’m walking like a little old lady when I go down the stairs today (must have been those lunges). Luckily I heeded your advice to go light on the weights otherwise I’d be in much worse shape than I already am ;) But I loved it..such a great way to do strength training!

Isn’t it even more fun and rewarding to take a rest day after you’ve completely exhausted your body? haha…a Blizzard is a nice reward too!

That always happens to me when I eat sweets, ESPECIALLY ice cream! I end up craving more once I’m finished, than I did before I started! That blizzard looked YUMMY!

I’m glad to see you eating prunes– whenever I eat them for a snack, my hub always makes fun of me and calls me an old lady!! I need to show him this post so that he can see that I’m not the only prune-lover out there! :-)

Don’t you just love how men pick at and serve up their portions out of a pan? They are oh so graceful. :) But at least it doesn’t alter the taste! Enjoy your evening, Tina!

Enjoy the R&R. The more I exercise, the more I learn to love and need rest days.

That pasta looks soo good!! Anything with artichokes and I’m sold :)
I’m really interested in purchasing the Mad Hectic oatmeal, but as of now it’s really only in my budget to buy one. Which of the flavors is your favorite? It’s between the Chocolate Raspberry and the French Chocolate. Any suggestions? :)

Artichokes and spinach are two of my favourite things too! And I think I’m lucky that we don’t have any Dairy Queens in Australia. I’d spend WAY too much money on Reese’s blizzards, I think…

this comment is really random, because i live in london, and have no idea how i found you, but i read your blog everyday, i’m trying to get a grasp of a healthy atttitude towards food at the moment but am in a band and its very tricky to keep a healthy lifestyle and be sane about the way you look whilst releasing an album! but your blog is very inspirational to me. so i just wanted to thank you for what i’ve gained from your blog and your healthy attitude towards food. and hopefully i can give something back to you in the form of music, so this is my band http://www.myspace.com/pullinemergency and the new side project i just started http://www.myspace.com/weareabigdeal. it’s not a very fair exchange, but it’s all i got!
thankyou

Artichokes always works so nicely in creamy pastas and dishes. I love the blend of ingredients in that pasta dish.

I saw that carrot and apple slaw in the RS mag. I have been dying to make it. It looks delish. I am hoping to get around to it this week :)

i made that same recipe last night! so good. i’ve made it once before and made a few changes last night. i used shells (since that’s what i had in the pantry), added some slices of leftover fresh mozzarella on top, and i threw it in the oven to bake for a little bit before i put it on broil. (i think the recipe just called for broiling and i wanted it to be more gooey) – it definitly makes great leftovers!

How many rest days do you take a week? I try to take 2 rest days split in my week. If I don’t, I get burned out fast. I work out so much that my body will tell me to slow down (usually by catching a nasty cold).

Reply

Tina April 28, 2010 at 12:42 pm

@Lisa: Depends on the week. Anywhere from 1-4.
