Tasks to the Max

March 7, 2010

I am tired. I haven’t stop moving all day long, but I got a lot done… and, that’s all that matters, right? ;-)

Snack

Before Mal and I headed out to tackle our monstrous To Do list, we shared a Peanut Choco Nature’s Path Chewy Granola Bar that the company sent me to sample.

IMG_6972.JPG

It was a really yummy bar– chocolaty, peanut buttery, and sort of cinnamon-y.

IMG_6974.JPG

IMG_6975.JPG

Then, Mal and I hit-up Dunkin’ Donuts for some caffeinated energy. The beautiful weather also called for iced coffee! ;-)

IMG_6977.JPG

The first task of the day was washing Mal’s car, which was sort of like a mini workout.

IMG_6985.JPG

It was fun, too! :-D

IMG_6986.JPG

So fresh and so clean.

IMG_6987.JPG

Oh, baby! ;-)

IMG_6991.JPG

Our next stop was Best Buy to buy a new microwave. (We finally broke down and decided that we needed one in our lives.)

The microwaves at Best Buy were so expensive! I had no idea that microwaves cost so much, so instead of buying the first one that we saw, Mal and I ran over to Kmart to comparison shop.

IMG_6993.JPG

Surprisingly, Kmart’s microwaves were more expensive, so we went back to Best Buy.

IMG_6994.JPG

We ended up purchasing this beauty from Best Buy. Looks sort of futuristic, doesn’t it?

IMG_7006.JPG

The final stop of the day was the grocery store, where Mal and I battled some serious Sunday afternoon crowds, but we made it out alive in about 30 minutes. Not too bad!

Lunch

Mal and I arrived home after 4 o’clock, so, not surprisingly, we were starving for lunch. I threw together a couple of bagel sandwiches with all of the fixings for us.

IMG_7008.JPG

On my bagel sandwich: deli ham, Swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and sprouts. It was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in awhile! The Everything bagels were an excellent choice by my husband.

IMG_7009.JPG

IMG_7016.JPG

On the side, I had some cucumber sticks and Pop Chips.

IMG_7010.JPG

IMG_7011.JPG

And, a pickle!

IMG_7013.JPG

After lunch, Mal and I took Murphy for an hour-long walk around the neighborhood. On our walk, we stopped by Dave and Marie’s house for some puppy playtime. Murphy played his little heart out and now he is totally pooped! He’s snoring away in his crate right now.

Then, Mal and I cleaned our entire apartment and started on 3 loads of laundry.

And, finally, the very last thing that we had to do was hang our pictures, which took FOR-EVER!!! 8-O But, now everything is hung and our place is just about complete. Thank goodness!

Here’s another little preview of our apartment. I think the grand tour will be next Saturday!

Dinner

Because Mal and I ate lunch so late in the day, we decided to have peanut butter-banana smoothies for dinner, which was an excellent decision.

IMG_7031.JPG

Mmm… smoothie! It totally hit the spot.

IMG_7033.JPG

I also enjoyed two coconut date nut rolls for “dinner.”

Up next: PJs + couch + movie.

Good night, guys!

I love Sundays where I get a lot done. You just feel so much better about Monday! I still love those keep calm signs, I need to find one that fits me.

Watch where you put your microwave. The heat from the microwave might cause your fridge to work harder to stay cold.

I love all the photography and art that you hung up. There’s something about wall art that really personalizes a space. I’m in a college apartment and I haven’t hung any art because I don’t want to make any holes in the wall or anything. But your pictures are making me consider some art in my own life!

Tina, I think there’s an iPhone app that would let you compare prices of things on the spot.My boyfriend’s Droid has one where he can scan the barcode using the phone camera and it will tell him the price of that item at other stores. I’m sure someone’s thought of that for the iPhone.

I experienced the same ordeal when buying my microwave. Lowes actually sold my current microwave for 35 dollars less than Wal Mart!

Amy B @ Second City Randomness March 7, 2010 at 11:34 pm

My biggest annoyance with buying a microwave was seeing it on sale for $20 less two weeks later… I wanted to throw my current microwave against a wall when I saw that… grr! But at least I would have been able to acquire a new one on sale…

Gosh you have been busy!
Did you know the original ‘keep calm and carry on’ posters were designed as propoganda posters for use in WW2? I had always thought they were put in the underground bunkers to get people to carry on walking through. Apparently they were actually intended for use AFTER the Nazi’s invaded Britain . . . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keep_Calm_and_Carry_On

Oh my gosh! My husband and I were THIS CLOSE to buying the Very Same Microwave at Target yesterday!!!!!! (we don’t own one either at the mo., and have decided to buy…) … instead of getting it though, we decided to research our online options. :-) (though I had an Oster toaster once that withstood daily use for more than five years and was still going strong when I sold it on craigslist. Wow!)

Everything bagels are totally a food weakness of mine. I’ve been plotting to make my own whole wheat everything bagels one of these days since I can’t seem to find them anywhere in stores.
