Spelt + Hemp

March 2, 2010

This morning’s breakfast included some new goodies: spelt flakes and hemp milk. Well, technically, hemp milk isn’t new to me. I used to drink it all of the time, but, one day, my cheapskate instincts kicked-in and I stopped paying $4 a carton for it. But, hemp milk is so good for you with all of it’s omegas, calcium, vitamin D, etc., I just had to bring it back into my life!

Breakfast

For breakfast, I enjoyed the creamiest batch of banana oats in a jar.

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup spelt flakes
  • 1/2 cup vanilla hemp milk
  • 1/2 cup non-fat milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 banana
  • Wheatberries
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon

Makes 2

Oats in a jar are easily one of the best ideas I’ve gotten from the blog world. I get really excited every time I empty a nut butter jar! ;-)

I also had a glass of iced coffee with hemp milk and a splash of vanilla soy milk for some added creaminess. (Hemp milk gets all weird in iced coffee.)

Siggi’s Giveaway

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I raved about Siggi’s Orange & Ginger yogurt? It was SO GOOD! Well, the nice folks at Siggi’s sent me a bunch of coupons to giveaway on CNC.

I have wanted to try the siggis brand yogurt for awhile now! I havent eaten any dairy or yogurt in years and recently fell in love with greek style yogurt!

I love ANYTHING grapefruit so the grapefruit would be my top pick. Orange ginger is a close second. Citrus and ginger are the best.
