Ready for Monday?

March 15, 2010

Anyone else feel like they didn’t have a weekend? Saturday and Sunday totally flew by for me! I’m not sure that I’m ready for Monday quite yet.

So, I got my official race time: 24:56 (8:02)! Wahoo! PR for me! My previous 5K PR was 25:35 (8:14) at the Jingle Bell more than a year ago, so I’ve definitely made some progress since then– even though I haven’t been running very much because of my bursitis. I think that my faster time is due to Body Pump. My body is just so much stronger, so I was able pick up the pace and really push myself without any training.

Breakfast

I craved creamy oats for breakfast this morning, so I made a batch of old-fashioned oats + oat bran with banana.

IMG_0006.JPG

In the mix:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops Nuttzo

VinoVoyage II

Remember my post about the VinoVoyage last fall? Well, I had an absolute blast at it! And, the event first initiated my working relationship with Gordon’s. You never know where you’ll make a connection! ;-)

The next VinoVoyage is May 13, 2010, and it is THE wining and dining event of the season! The event includes a tasting over 250 wines, a buffet dinner, DJ, dancing, and live jazz music. It was such a fun time last year! I can’t wait!

Question of the Day

What was the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

I can’t believe I am going to NYC tonight!!! I’m excited, but I feel so unprepared. I haven’t packed or done anything yet! 8-O

I studied abroad in France for a month. Not technically a vacation because I was taking classes…but it sure felt like it! We visited Barcelona, Paris, and lived in Toulouse. I fell in love with French culture!

Yes! This weekend zipped by. But, then again, it always goes so quick.

My best vacation was when I studied abroad in New Zealand. It’s the most amazing place I’ve ever been to.

A pr in those conditions is a real accomplishment, Congrats!
I have yet to beat going to Disneyworld as a kid, I was completely in awe that a place like that existed and that my Dad was willing to take me there. This spring break I’m going back to Florida (but probably no Disney).

My best “vacation” was a 3 1/2 month trip around Europe post college grad. I use the word vacation loosely though because all that travel on a tight budget was hard work!! Well worth it tho :)

Congrats on the PR, and your’re lucky. You’re heading up here just as it’s supposed to get nice and be in the 60s all week! Best vacay was one of the two cruises I went on, or just a week in OBX. Haha all vacations are awesome.

Best vacation – my honeymoon with my husband to Little Dix Bay on BVI. We still talk about it almost 3 years later. It was amazing and we hope to go back there again soon. I highly recommend the resort to everyone!! Gorgeous!

Have a safe trip down here tonight! At least the weather should be much better tomorrow!

Great run!

My favorite vacation was the summer before I went into fourth grade, when my parents took me to all the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites from the “Little House” books. We started in Wisconsin, where “Little House in the Big Woods” was set, then went to Kansas (Little House on the Prairie), Minnesota (On the Banks of Plum Creek), and then out to South Dakota (On the Shores of Silver Lake and all the rest). We ended in Mansfield, Mo., where Laura and Almanzo went after they married.

I was a huge fan of those books, so spending time seeing all the places Laura lived was the coolest.

My favorite vacation was a 3 week trip I took the year I turned 18 up through Canada. On the way back south I spent my 18th birthday in New York City watching Angela Lansbury in “Mame”. That trip is full of memories and it’s been a VERY long time ago.

I can’t believe that body pump helped your race time! That’s awesome!! I am still working on my Lose the Dough challenge but I haven’t been very consistent with weights. They have a similar class at my school’s gym called Body tone (at 7AM!!!!) but your success is really inspiring me to wake up at the insanely early hour of 6am just to try it! I’d love to see a huge difference like that.
Plus if my bod looks anything like your goal picture for lose the dough then it would be well worth the lost hours of rest!

Best vacation is always the last vacation I took!
We went to Sydney, Australia last year. I grew up there, but hadn’t been back in many years, and my husband had never been. It was a blast being back in my 2nd home!

Congrats on the PR. I’m always surprised at how much strength training makes me run faster.

I went to Rome, Torino, Switzerland and Paris on a week long trip with a friend while studying abroad. We saw so much and had a blast. I would love to go back.

The best vacation (so far) has to be last February my husband and I took our first bike (motorcycle) trip to Arizona. We didn’t plan the date right because it was unseasonably cold (35 every morning). But we bundled up and rode the whole week.

Hmmm, well my weekend was my first ever in Paris, and I spent most of it at a Parisian hospital being told I might have to cancel the rest of ym trip and go home… so can I say this vacation is simultaneously my best and worst?
